Marines demonstrate SPIE (Special Patrol Insertion/Extraction) rigging, after fast-roping onto a helicopter pad during Marine Week St. Louis. Marine Week provides an opportunity to increase public awareness of the Marine Corps' value to our nation's defense and to preserve and mature the Corps' relationship with the American people. It is fun. I was in 3/7 K Co and never did stuff like this (we did other crazy stuff, though). It was only when I changed MOS to a Travel Clerk when I got to do this. We buzzed around mainside on Camp Pendleton for 15 or so minutes, and then returned us to earth.

when they use this kind of extraction do the guys ever get pulled in the helicopter or do they just hang there till the get back to the base?

@SuperMaxmeister I admit i know "everything" about the usmc but i love the history of it. I mean i have a coffee table book all about the history of the usmc and its about as thick as a table xD
