Johannes Petrus Spies (30 Junie 1936 - 4 Januarie 1996) was 'n besonder gewilde storieverteller en skrywer. Hy was saam met PG du Plessis die aanbieder van die gewilde televisieprogram Spies en Plessie - met permissie, waardeur hy nie net self volksbesit geword het nie, maar ook persoonlikhede soos Tolla van der Merwe, Koos Meyer, Danny Pretorius, Nico Nel en Pyp de Villiers landwye bekendheid verwerf het.
