Let's examine this sketch: 1 - John Bluthall's hair 2- Mr. Lovely Legs Ireland 3 - The choosing of the chalk ceremony 4 - at 1:06 - the chalk 5 - at 1:14 - the Guiness Beer - watching this on the original broacast - the funniest thing i've ever seen as a 13 year old... 6 - at 1:57 - the reference card 7 - at 2:25 - the delayed 'x' 8 - at 2:40 - "The referee's having none of that and he's wiped it' 9 - at 3:14 - rubs off the X an absolutely astonishing sketch.
I was in a pub in Bray during the World Cup in the 90s it was very much like this sketch with the waiter spilling stuff and the lads scrapping round the tv screen
@@beneire6955 the one at the left side of the road where main drag comes to seafront big bar goes back long way I was pretty hammered myself at the time.
@@bobdownes162 I'm sure there must be some. The Irish outside of Dublin refer to Dubliners as 'little Brits'. The Dubliners refer to the rest of the population by an obscene Irish word, that I haven't found an English translation for! The best Celtic jokes about the English I've heard were by Welsh comedian Rob Brydon. They were rather gentle piss takes, rather like a younger brother teasing his big brother. I imagine if that had been a Scottish comedian the jokes would have been much more vicious.
Tis Irish Bob saying hello Bloody marvelous. When tv was worth watching and enjoying laughs with family and friends. Irish Bob enjoyed this sketch Enjoy yer weekend ahead 🤗😇😎🇮🇪🇨🇵🍀☘️🦾🩺🥂
@Station View black people tell jokes about black people.. asian people tell jokes about asian people.. ..and in this case a man with irish heritage is mocking irish people.. ..but I guess if you really search hard enough there's racism everywhere... it's become a really popular pastime...
I love the goons , and Milligan, I have got many on his books, and quite a few goon shows on LP, I met Spike back in the eary 1970's at his art exhibition in Aldgate East London.
The good old days when people could laugh at themselves , at each other and nobody was offended . These days it's just the opposite which is sad as laughter is a great healer .
What do you get if you cross Spike Milligan with Dave Allen? ~ They tried that once at their local lodge and got a serious warning from the pope and then a stern letter from the Irish PM's office ordering them to cease and desist immediately before one of them became pregnant...
Totally daft but crazy funny. "Those legs should be illegal"! Spike Milligan was unique, a comic genius and a true Brit. What would he make of Covid Britain 2020?
while i admit spike milligan was never one of my top 5 comedians i miss the days when we could laugh at ourselves and others without being accused of racism.and im sure there were countries doing sketches along these lines about us brits.
