SPIKING THE FAIRWAYS - COURSE MAINTENANCE

In order to help us golfers playing there is lots of maintenance that needs to be done. In the UK over the past month we have had extreme weather with high levels of rainfall. The greens team at Halifax West End Golf Club, have been on the course this week to break surface tension, to allow the fairways to breathe and help water to move through the soil profile to help maintain firm fairways.
In this video Darren Arber will look at the process from using the ‪@GreenTekturfcareequipment‬ double quick to a clean up pass with the ‪@JohnDeere‬ fairway mower, to help fairways to remain playable and tidy for golfers

Not to be pedantic but...that isn't spiking the fairways Darbs. It's a GreenTek Double-Quick Deep Slitter, being used for it's designed purpose, slitting a fairway or playing field. Excellent bit of kit that will help our fairways in the coming season 👍👍👍

It was work that was being carried out so I took the opportunity to get some footage. The greens I am sure will be next to get some aeration work, just need to get the green s to firm up a little so we can get the machinery on them. @@darrenarbergolf It can for sure, they do an attachment specifically for greens called a 'Fine Slitter' which is different to the Deep Slitter which is considerably larger and more intrusive. Debi and I were fortunate enough to be invited on a demo day hosted by GreenTek and Russells. We had lots of beautiful kit demonstrated to ourselves and to other clubs from throughout Yorkshire. Very interesting (possibly expensive) day for all that attended 👍
