Thank you so much for introducing the idea of normalizing long term making. It does take a long time to make things and we shouldn't pretend otherwise! It's such a breath of fresh air every time you say it
Congratulations on getting back into teaching! I’m sure that your students will have a wonderful experience. I love this genuine and more casual format, too. 💗
I love your wallhanging co-host! Also the piece with the shells on it. Such unique pieces with lovely, calming textures. Regarding technical spinning...I have tried to be a technical spinner several times, feeling like that's what a "real, serious" spinner is. Every time, though, it took the joy out of the craft for me. I am much happier spinning intuitively; my yarn and resulting knitted or woven projects don't suffer from that approach, and I'm much happier and more joyful in that style of making! Do what makes you happy. 💕
Those rolags were gorgeous as fiber and your spinning really did them justice! Delicious yarn snacks, all ready for the next phase of your making journey! Always a delight to join you on your explorations. ❤❤❤
A lovely calm and inspiring episode! I am definitely intimidated by the idea of spinning a sweater's quantity of fiber! I think it's the perfectionist part of me that's keeping me from pursuing that project. Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
I just love the different effects you got from different ply's, would be interesting to see how different they knit up as well. I am not a spinner and weaver but absolutely love watching you do it and talk about it. The Citrine top is still as beautiful as the first time you showed it. I love her textured patterns. Finishing that gifted top with I-cord should be sufficient, it is so gorgeous. Happy crafting!
Always lovely to spend some quiet chatting time with you! I love listening to such a knowledgeable person as yourself and I think attending a class that you were teaching would be so special. I love the design of the top you were gifted, it’s beautiful. Take care and thank you x
I so enjoy your genuine, in-the-moment format. It feels very honest and real to me. I also appreciate the idea of long-term-making. That also is genuine. Your spinning is an inspiration to me as I have only been spinning for about two years. I look forward to seeing your making journey continue. And your smile and welcome in is just the best. It warms my heart.
Seeing a notification for your new videos always brings a smile to my face! Short or long, I enjoy following you progress. I know that I want to spend quality time with you so I make it happen: tea, knitting or spinning in a quiet place to slow things down. It's my time to pause. Your unique content just flows. I love it. And I'm sure many others do too! Wishing you a great weekend in your making 🧶 I'm very excited for Knit City Montreal. I hope you will like our corner of the fiber craft world 🍁
Thank you so much for your content. I frequently have your videos on while I am working on my own projects, and 30 minutes or more are just perfect. There is no such thing as "too long" in my book, and honestly that's what the pause button is for. I really enjoy your "hey, I thinking about something and I want to share" style of podcast. It refreshing and fun, and conversational. It's like I am sitting here with a fellow multicraftual makers chatting and making, and I love that.
Thank you for another wonderful podcast Marce. The sun is shining for change here in London city so I can imagine I'm in Florida 😆 I certainly made the right decision to start my morning watching you. I have said it before and I'll say it again I really enjoy seeing you sharing your progress in a slow and mindful format. Don't get me wrong I understand that there are times when things are time sensitive but in the main life is 100 miles per hour as it this beautiful craft we enjoy why not savour it. I also love your curiosity to learn more about what you doing and the materials you are working with. Never say never but I don't think I'll ever spin but you make it look like an interesting journey which I'll continue to live vicariously through you 😀 Take care looking forward to seeing what you'll be exploring next time
So pleased to have met you at MAFA 2023. I’m enjoying your sharing your making practice. I’m trying to improve my spinning and I look forward to being with a fellow traveler.
I’m just a few minutes in, but I get it! I’ve often feel the same. Embrace the slow process…and yes, I’d love to hear about what your working on again and again! Ok, now to watch the rest while I finish up a weaving on my rigid heddle that been an 18 month long project. 😮
Lisa, your podcasts have been such excellent company for me while as I’ve been at the wheel this month. Thank you for what you share. Your weaving WIP looks so good!
I’m loving this window into your process and inspiration, as it happens in real time -well, your real time. A bit delayed for the viewers, but you get my point. This episode about your long-term experimenting and playing and discovering the spinner you want to be is just what I needed to see and hear at this moment in my own spinning journey. You helped me understand that I don't yet have enough direct experience of my hands on fluff and wheel or spindle to have a direction for my spinning, or to know what I want to do. This is the time to figure out what I like doing, what feels good to me, and what spinning techniques and challenges tickle my curiosity and interest and inspire further exploration. My conclusion: It’s time to PLAY! Time to try different breeds x different spinning tools x different fiber prep & spinning processes and find out what processes feel good in my body while I am doing them, and what results (yarn characteristics) make my heart and my eyes and my knitting fingers happy. Your snack sized skeins are my new guide for how to approach my spinning explorations. I have two breed-sampler packs, plus the Long Way Homestead breed of the month fiber, that I had not figured out what I wanted to do with. You inspire me to have fun playing with them AND, most importantly, to take all the time I need to explore spinning them. I don't have to produce giant skeins of finished yarn. I can make lots of little ones, and enjoy discovering how the different fibers want to be prepped and spun, and what I like. Thank you so much for all this. harpingJanet
Awesome marce, so love this space inspired by your confidence in sharing your pace in life and craft. The spining vibes are just blooming around the globe exciting how each individual finds their place 😀 .

I am picking out the vm from my local Corriedale raving as I watch this. Could not be more enjoyable. Good luck with your teaching. Wish I could go. For years your toe up socks were the only toe up socks that fit me. Andrea Mowry's sock do too. What great company. Whenever I get to visit with you is a treat, so what is best for you is wonderful.
i love the way you are doing your podcasts, though i am a long time knitter, i dont know a lot about spinning and am thoroughly enjoying you taking us on your journey, it's quite wonderful!, im always so happy to see a notification that a new podcast is ready for viewing, i grab my knitting and enjoy, thank you so much for sharing with us! ♥
Lynn, this means a lot! I'm always curious if those in our community who are not working on the same craft as me at a given time are still going to be interested.
The first sweater I knit was seamed. I was so impressed with myself. Thanks for the reminder that our craft takes time. I decided I wanted to knit some blankets and one is a pieced project using all of my sock leftovers. I’m loving the play of color but it’s going to take some time and that is ok. Thanks for sharing all of your making.
I like this informal format very much. It feels very real and as always I enjoy hearing your thoughts on your crafts. I have way too much going on in my life to take up another hobby 😅 but seeing your spinning „snacks” was certainly tempting!! I do not enjoy seaming at all, probably because I’m just not very good at it. I also do enjoy the knitting in the round flow that comes with seamless designs…. however, I’m aware that I’m missing some beautiful designs because I fear my seams would be sloppy (and I’m NOT a perfectionist!!). Thank you for your inspiration, and happy spinning to you!!
This video format works very well and I love it. It’s exciting because we never really know what to expect with each upload. Having the chapters gives viewers the opportunity to easily choose what they want to watch or just watch the whole thing. I have to watch the whole thing to ensure that I don’t miss anything. 😉 Enjoy your trip to that wonderful country, Canada.🇨🇦 When I heard Montreal, I immediately saw Mount Royal in my mind’s eye. Have a safe and uneventful trip there and back. ❤
I love the new format. Kind of like "I'm so enthusiastic about this I need to tell my friends right now!" We get the in-the-moment feelings. Love it. Also, mattress stitching...I have a feeling I'm goin to be looking for a seamed garment in the near future. I'm working on a long-term blanket project that's mattress stitched in stripes (nice portable little pieces that magically transform to a blanket? Yes please) and have thoroughly enjoyed the piecing together portion. It just needs a border now.
Yes, that Corriedale "poof" 😂 Thank you for mentioning our farm my friend ❤ Ohhh, your special fleece from your trip is going to be oh-so special! I'm really enjoying your spinning thoughts ❤
Marce, love it, my most favourite podcast for peaceful moment. Youve inspired me, Ive got hand died shetland fibre and a turkish spindle that I just get out and admire. Tomorrow is the day, I have a morning to myself no more procratinating 😘
I like the organic, as inspiration hits format, and I appreciate your calm speaking voice. So many show hosts talk a mile a minute. Your channel feels like we are sitting around the table with our projects enjoying each other's company. Do you find wearing animal fibers during summer an issue? Especially when the humidity is through the roof? The few summer tops I have made are cotton and bamboo. Wool doesn't seem very practical even though I know wool is moisture wicking and breathable. I guess my brain associates wool with cozy, warm sweaters 😀
You're Canadian???? No wonder you're so cool. :) I like the chunked up style of video if that's how you can feel most comfortable and can get them done so they don't hang over your head. I think everyone just likes to see your smile and your making journey. I'm going to DM you about Montreal. It's so tempting. 🥰
Wow, you got me feeling motivated to do some spinning after a long hiatus! Though, I've been doing some seaming and finishing work on a project that I don't know if I can put down. It's been awhile since I've really gotten into a project, and I'm excited to be nearing the finish line with this one. Good luck with your mattress stitching!
You're Canadian?! That's very cool! I was born and raised near Montreal. I've lived in Nova Scotia for the past 8.5 years. I was in Alberta and Ontario before that.
Perfectionist tendencies? Don’t know what you’re talking about! (Says she who re-knits most of her projects at least three times before she’s happy with them!) 😂😉 You have so many exciting projects going on Marce. Can’t wait to see the slow progression on them, especially the Emily Greene top! ❤
A fabulous episode ❤ I like the structure and the fit of seamed garments but I don’t like knitting them!!🤣 I prefer knitting in the round…..psychological🤣Knitting in pieces, I think I should be finished when I cast off, but then I find I have the same thing to do all over again!🤣
I love your video on turkish cast on socks . So well explained and so cleared that it is a treat to work with. Your are a gem to us.😘🍇🌸 Tata Cécile from Paris
