I've been super inspired to dye lots of wool lately, so per Chris' request, I'll be showing you my current dye jobs, plus the view from Michigan Fiber Festival with mini-haul! I'll also unbox weaving stuff, linen and a cool kit, and some harder to find fibers for a future breed study extension. It's a lot, so grab a project, and let me keep you company!

Aw, Annie, thanks. I probably took a whole five minutes instead of the usual three. If it is not super fast, I can't keep it in my routine! I also have a giant unicorn horn zit on my forehead that you couldn't see at all 😂. Yay, lighting!

Yay! I am glad you liked the pygora! To dehair the pygora I put it on Viking combs and then do two passes. I then dizz it off slowly, leaving the guard hairs behind. The Shetland was washed and combed from a fleece I bought.

Seeing your fiber festival got me so excited for the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival too! I haven't been in ages and I'm just itching to see what's new out there! Plus, I'll be taking a batt-making class and a blending board class that I'm looking forward to. Your dyed braids are just scrumptious and I can't wait to get mine! Did I hear John say he wanted to look at spinning wheels?!? I drove by it on Sunday to take my son to college in GR from Wisconsin, and would have loved to stop at the festival. Swooning over all of the ‘goras! And the merino silk is amazing 😻

Yes! He has toyed with the idea of trying to design one that's really different forever, so it will probably never happen. You just never know with either of us. If he is fact finding, it's not off the table.

Wow those fibers you dyed are gorgeous trish and the fiber fest looking like so much fun and the wool painting is amazing. The shawl pin is also very pretty, mmmm yak and silk blend druel. To de compact your merino if you steam it it will fluff it up ready to spin I found this little tip on RU-vid. Midnight blue from dharma is really nice. I have 3 full fleeces of the fine shetland still have one to wash though and it all to prep still lol. What a fantastic happy mail. The yarn you spin is to die for thank you so much for sharing trish I really enjoyed watching this xxx love and hugs sweet lady x

I know I’ve told you this before, Stephanie at Deep Dyed Yarns is my local shop. I miss our Monday knit group. We hadn’t gotten back together yet and now the COVID numbers keep going up. Her shop is small so it’s really hard to social distance. I’ve done several of her samples. Love her yarn and fiber. ❤️

I have just started spinning. Like 8 days ago! With a drop spindal. I'm so hooked! I crochet, but last year for making hats for the homeless, in my area, I bought a knitting machine. I can not wait to make a hat with yarn that I have spun myself! (I bought the fiber and spindal from etsy. I shouldn't have gotten one with sari silk ... for my first fiber. But, it's going great so far

The fibre festival near me had been cancelled last year and again this year because of all the restrictions, etc. Really miss having that event to look forward to new items and ideas that are created from attending. Well, that was awesome! Those braids you dyed are gorgeous and how cool is it that you have a 'wall of wool' at your LYS. That braid you spun at the end...was that the wool you dyed when you put dye on the bottom of your pan and then layered the fibre over it and put dye on top? It was a delicious spin at any rate!

I would love to see a link to the linen weaving yarn you purchased... I think you said they were on Etsy? I have two cones, but have found the numbering for linen even more confusing than cotton. The one cone I bought is so fine, I may have to ply it on one of my wheels before I can weave with it. The other is thicker but still much thinner than the 8/2 cotton.

Help!! I warped with my new warping rod and a couple of pegs with warp cotton on them were loose and I screwed the top down really tight. What did I do wrong? Could it be I may have lost count and had less string on the peg than its neighbor peg?? 😩 it wasnt a disaster but it wasnt perfect like yours. 😞 and yes I like it when you keep me company.

I'm not exactly sure what you are describing. Did you take any photos? Maybe you could email? I have noticed that there can be a slight learning curve, but each time you use it, it will get a lot better!

Oh Trish, I know you have been eating low carb, I can really see in your face that you are loosing weight in this video. I hope you also see the difference in how you feel. I'm low carbing too, after a diabetes diagnosis back in March. I feel so much better not eating sugar, do you find that to be true as well?

I am, yep! I have done it before, but then it was true Keto. This time more just low carb. I am still eating a hamburger bun or a potato or something maybe twice a week. My anxiety is much better if I don't eat carbs, and I do generally feel more energetic once I get through the weird beginning part. But yes, I have lost 16 pounds, so a drop in the bucket, but not nothing, right? Thank you for telling me you can see it!

Hm do powder dyes have a shelf life? I have greener shades from probably 6 years ago??

I have never used greener shades, but I would use my preferred dyes forever as long as they stay dry. Some of them get really weird when stored after mixing
