This was really interesting! Thanks for showing how the head tilts. I hadn’t considered the benefits for long draw spinning. Maybe when you do the next video where you’re test driving all the other accessories you can demo this again. This is a very impressive wheel. It seems simple and elegant. I’m impressed that Majacraft has been able to keep it this way and, at the same time, make it so versatile.
Hi there - so it could be a number of things. First thing is check the attachment of the crank assembly to the drive wheel - there are three screws holding the crank in place, if they are loose you will get a good amount of noise. They should be a little more than hand tight. Then make sure that the conrods are nice and straight so that the ball and join are not touching - if they are touching, you need to unscrew the conrod from the treadle and shift it to get the ball/join clear of each other. Last think is to check your screw hinges on the treadles are nice and tight. If this doesn't do it, you might need to replace your hinges, but check these things first. Hope this helps!
Any idea why I would have a whirring sound when spinning. I've tried changing the material of the brake band and leader. Ugh. Maybe the standard bobbins?
I'm guessing it is the tension cord as it rubs up against the bobbin - not sure that can be remedied, unless you can loosen the tension a little. Someone once said they use cotton thread instead of the nylon cord?
HI Nancy - the only difference is the finish on the drive wheel - the pro is painted and the Suzie has laminate - with the clematis etching. The Suzie pro bundle comes with a few more accessories. Hope this helps!
