Thanks for the nice video, I had my glider spin in high winds as it was blowing me over the buildings, it was sudden full rotation, SO, I did hands up, head up to see what was going on. by then it had reopened right over the building in the right direction thank GOD, for a Touch n Go or a Safe Rooftop landing,... So I landed the glider safely rather than a touch-n-go in the high wind only to land again down the ridge. "Never continue a risky Flight when there's a perfectly good landing spot to ended it, and walk away free and unscratched"

I just bought an epsilon 9 9 and the aspect ratio is low. I live in the devil's bowels as far as rotors and turbulence far from that kind ocean it's all hilly flatland kind of. I got lessons coming up and a guy is going to tell me into the air for the start so I get some flying experience before I have to do foot launches. I love all your videos you really capture the ideas about these spins and give some numerical data. These problems will eat 100 ft pretty fast. I saw your video about a partial collapse and various settings on the carabiner width. How does this carabiner with setting affect these spins installs

This stuff is good to know as a guy goes around trying to avoid spending and twisting and stalling. That emergency turn was good. If you're an idiot and you need to turn real bad you could jam on one break and turn it loose real quick. It will cost you a lot of altitude so you need some air space. It would seem to me you could twist the lines.

My aspect ratio is low. Is it necessary for a person to stall and spin in order to fly correctly? I love it when you put the amount of altitude you lose doing these maneuvers. We love numbers what's your aspect ratio on this wing?

Very nice video. I’m not sure about the “release point” because it seem counterintuitive to me with the pitch control. When you say “don’t release the brake when the glider is behind you in a spin”, because our body pendulum is swinging down and the glider is coming for a big dive I guess. So if we release the brakes in this condition, what can happens ? A big collapse ? Thank you anyway :)

Thanks Pierre. In a spin, if the glider is behind, and rotating, try to hold it until it starts to come in front, the release the brake and continue the same way, bleeding the energy out.

Hi Pierre, yes, if the glider is behind you then it shoot asymmetrically and often collapses on the outside, if you don't brake the dive. If you release in front then this shooting is minimised.

"Using spin to enter a thermal" Is it possible to use this technique in low aspect ratio wings?

Hi there, we tried with comp wings years ago and it works at first but you get pushed out and that's not great, while in a spin. It's better to use nice banks 360 with good cadence, that way you can centre on the core.

what happens if you weight shift in the opposite direction from the brake?
@jockysanderson5659
@jockysanderson5659 3 года назад
Hi. it enters the spin a bit earlier and flatter as there is less roll into he turn.
