A basic introduction to playing Spirit Island as Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares.
BoDaN is an interesting spirit, trying to trade away all of its offensive capability for fear generation. This leads to a style of play that is much more focused on what the fear deck provides; fortunately, they can look ahead and see what's coming! In this video, we play a slower build, using minor powers and trying to delay our reclaim rather than simply rushing majors and trying to spam them for the win.

A tricky spirit to play so it is good to have a guide. Your previous guides have helped alot to develop my knowledge of this game.

Glad to hear they've been helpful, and I hope this one was too! Bringer is definitely an odd spirit, but I wanted to showcase a (hopefully) straightforward way to play them.

Thanks for your guide. Watching your basic strategy 2-3 times per video! Educating! This spirit reminds me of an archetype called "milling" in TCG. Milling means force opponent discard and when they have no card to draw then win! "Milling" strategy I tried for years is very delicate to handle and so does this spirit.

I definitely see the analogue to milling! I usually compare it to an aggressive strategy like Red Deck Wins in Magic or Face Hunter in Hearthstone where the only thing you care about is the opponent's life total (fear total in this case).

@@kalennoreth Red deck wins and face hunter! This two decks will make players automatically agressive in games! Building fear fast is sure like Aggro deck in Magic and face hunter in Hearts Stone. The Lightening in spirit island reminds me of the red deck wins as well. Lingtening is fast, agressive and require a lot calculation.

An interesting option on your Predatory Nightmares turn 1: put the town into 5 with everything. Turn 2, Dread Apparitions (or a minor defend power drawn) and the known fear card will let you defend both Sands (grow into 1 as you did), killing the extra town which may reduce inland access later. Pretty funny possibility on thresholded Talons: you can rotate any towns in 1-2-3-4 and just keep hitting them every turn (not needed at this difficulty + solo of course).

Hm, that definitely could have been an interesting path! They still build in land 6, but if we get a fast power that moves an explorer or another good fear card, we might have been able to prevent that and really cut off lands 7 and 8 from explores.

Thanks for these amazing strategy videos! At 12:30, perhaps you could have used Visions to push the town from 1 to 2, then used Talons on 2 to hit a town and a city to generate 7 fear!

Definitely could have been an option, and then trusted the fear cards to stop the ravage in 1!

Nice play-through. I enjoy hearing your thoughts on your strategy. I like to choose my element after choosing any cards, just in case I need something. If it’s less pressing and I’m playing with events, I will even wait until after the event.

Glad to hear it! I am currently only planning to do the 12 spirits in the digital app, as those are the ones I know best. I would love to do the JE spirits as well, but there are a couple of issues I would need to address first. So, to actually answer your question, I probably will do the JE spirits eventually, but not very soon.
