Thank you Sir! I very much need to hear this in the chaos of 2023. I feel I have no centre or calm in anything but the NOW, even 1 day at a time sends me off base.
Here we are in January 2022 and we don't know the answers to what's going to happen with the pandemic. This is a useful topic because we don't know about climate change or the future of just about everything. We need to get comfortable with not knowing otherwise life is going to be a bumpier ride than it needs to be.
You remind me of Mr. Rogers which is a nice comforting energy for adults. Unfortunately it is June 22 almost July & things are only getting worse & the anxiety & depression is so bad collectively & being autoimmune in this time has been so hard. I can’t even relax into this meditation as hard as I try, my anxiety & depression won’t even allow me to relax. What I know for sure is things are not getting better, they are however getting worse. I really tried to find comfort in this but I can’t.
This seems to be a pietist polemic. The Bible gives us guidance for the material world. It tells us of durable wisdom that attunes to the reality of the world that is held together by the logos. Micah 4:4 guides us that fearlessness is through owning ones own means of production. It tell us is Is 1:22 that fiat currency systems will fail - do you depend on a “dross” based financial system? Lev 18:25 tells us that we desecrate the soil it will vomit you out like the nations before you. These a 3 examples of far from knowing nothing, we are required to know the pragmatic knowledge of the world and live within it. This is a type of evangelical shamanism that discounts covenantal living and instead constructs a hyper supernatural Gnosticism.
