Couldn't agree more! And It's looks even more fake, having at the same time such a strong and intense relationship between Kirk and Spock: there are sparkles between them! Those gazes! And the scene, where Spock loses Jim and goes ballistic: more, than when his own planet was destroyed and his mother died! Either you don't create such a strong connection between the caracters, or you stick to it. But ignoring this kind of connection, while created, is impossible and untrue. And creating a "third wheel" is not the answer, because this DOES look unnatural and fake. And the spectators can see and feel it.

@@natashanef6068 indeed! There is chemistry between them. And to be honest? If they both were single like in TOS that would make me happy (because let's face it, no one will make both main characters gay for eachother and in gay relationship nowadays because nobody has the balls), that would be enough for me. Pushing Uhura between them made me hate her to my guts and I hate this feeling because her character is so much more, BUT because of that, she's flat and gives no meaning to the show like the TOS one did. The TOS one was tender, femine, yet subtly strong and standing her ground, well behaved, without all that nasty offended unprofessional attitude (speaking about scenes when she was angry with Spock and made a scene in front of the captain during the job, wtf). Aaaah, there is so much to complain about it, I have a whole list why Uhura and Spock does NOT work!

@@noctynocturnus Totally agree. In TOS the relationship between K and S were very deep, but much less passionate. And even there there was a very warm and firm connection: they where special for each other. But here the filmmakers themselves created the connection , which has real passion in it and from the start is immensely intense. And this type of connection simply couldn't be ignored. Them both being single would be at least logical, acceptable compromise, with an "open end". But the way the filmmakers chose is wrong and bad in so many ways! It just feels wrong, like a false note.

Sorry but this is how it is: when your partner gets angry with you over and over, without understanding you even in the hardest of yours moments and brings it up every time they can, compromising you in front of your captain??? That's just toxic. Uhura just doesn't know Spock at all. When his planet got destroyed she went after him asking what does he need. With Kirk it's like he constantly knows what Spock needs and what he will do and we can clearly see how he develops such 7th sense. Their characters just progress on during the show and you can see it with naked eye: Spock learning how to trick Khan, Kirk learning how to be more patient and calm. With Uhura there is nothing but stilness, zero progress, just "what about me, me, me, me", she did not even tried to understand how Spock could feel being an almost extinct species therefore thinking about re-creating it. All she was caring about was her own ass and her own feelings. When he almost died in a volcano? "You did not care how I would feel if you died!". Disgusting.

@@noctynocturnus More than this: in the scene where she throws a tantrum in a shuttle in front of the captain on their way to Kronos: Spock had to explain to her, that he actually HAS feelings, just doesn't show them. Seriously? She WAS with him for a year or more and STILL didn't get it about him??? REALLY??? Wow!!!... Wrong, wrong, wrong all the way: so wrong it hurts. But it couldn't have been anything else: this line was superfluous from the very beginning. It has no purpose. Except to stand between Kirk and Spock all the time in the worst possible way. They don't even have sceens together, between just two of them, except very brief moments, and if they have, there's always a third party involved. This is a stillborn relationship in it's core. After all, creation also obeys its own logical laws. Creator must take them into account and can't ignore them. Otherwise it will turn out artificial, false and deceitful. The interesting thing is that this "couple" according to the logic of the plot, has a tendency of it's own to be drawn apart in every movie: as if the characters themselves want to end this. The fact that the creators continue to force it back together from film to film looks like mockery of characters.Torture! I seriously hope, if the next movie will be released, they'll stop this abomination of a relationship and character mockery! After all, THIS what Spock and Kirk are about: "I definitely designed it as a love relationship...That was the relationship I tried to draw. I think I also tried to draw a feeling of belief that very few of us are complete unto ourselves. It's quite a lovely thing...where two halves make a whole." - Gene Roddenberry. They are two halves of one whole. Solemates. T'hy'la. And they do not need any "third wheel" between them.
