Having watched the entire video (likely for a second time) I just have to say: what a fantastic piece of information. Love all the little “outbreaks in song” you do when stuff inspires. The U2 one when you dialed in the e-bows. All the little musical ideas you throw in there. Just a joy to watch and extremely useful.
It is my pleasure. Reading your comment helps keep my joyful tank full, so we can continue on many more adventures together. Thanks so much for your kind encouragement and support.
This sounds great with your uplifting style - there are a lot of demos and walkthroughs that are pretty dark, which is great, but I love hearing it with a lighter mood as well
Yeah, with all of the pre-release buildup I was not quite sure where things would go. For me I want to see if I can take a something preconceived as “dark” and find the light in it. Thanks so much for watching.
That last song was amazing....very touching when you talked about your father...I've lost mine years ago.....reminded me...brought me some tears! Music is all about emotion...and you Sir, you know how to bring it very well! That's a great gift! Thank you!
It is my pleasure. It is such a privilege, although sometimes a scary one when you are drawn out by the music you are experiencing in the moment. I have embraced those times as I have realized that all of us are going through this journey together and those moments take us to places where we can experience healing and joy. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your kind words. Joyfully! 🎹
Eissom, that is so very kind of you to say. My feeling is that each instrument or sound has a seed, an idea, a hidden treasure on the inside, and the fun is the excitement I experience I begin that search. Thank you so much for watching and again, for your kind encouragement. Joyfully!🎹
You know what Simeon? I am still listening to this lovely review and I suddenly say to myself, I've got to get this library.. I immediately login to Spitfire Audio, and guess what? It is reduced from €449 to €269! How's that? I've now subscribed to your channel 🙂
Wonderful walkthrough! I love how you apply the the sounds and the way you play so well together. You really understand the mood of the sounds. You are are truly great musician, Thank you for your great videos!
It is really my pleasure, as I so enjoy being able to share my experiences with you. Solstice is really a unique library in co tent and approach which allows it to be the perfect library for when you need something a little out of the norm. Thanks for watching, and your very kind support. All the best.
Thank you Marcas. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share my adventures with you. There are so many amazing sounds and tools we have available to us today. It is a wonderful time to be a music creator. I really appreciate the kind words and support.
Thanks so much, Solstice was one of those libraries that captured your imagination. I also wanted to try and show a lighter side of it as the marketing had been a little darker. All the best, and I so appreciate your kind support.
Oh Simeon - you're videos are always just so much fun to watch, and this one is no exception. You're passion and excitement are so infectious and inspiring! Thank you for another wonderful video. Cheers again from Australia!
Thanks so much. I do tend to get carried away and so glad that you enjoyed coming along for the ride. These libraries are so massive in scope that it is impossible to cover everything, but try and do my best. Thanks for the kind support, it really means so much. All the best.
Another fabulous review....The Lord has truly used you as a vessel as you have been given a wonderful musical talent, and a story telling personality, to not only show off the various products that you review, but also a testament to your love of him ....Thanks for being you !!
Thank you my friend for the kind encouragement. I am so thankful for His grace over my life. It is a real privilege to be able to share with you. Blessings to you and yours.
I am so glad you enjoyed being with me on the Solstice journey, it was a lot of fun for me. Many more Joyful Journeys ahead, I look forward to seeing you there. Joyfully! 🎹
Welcome to the channel and thank you so much for your kind words. I just try to be myself while sharing these experiences coming from my perspective. I am so glad you are enjoying the content. All the best.
Yes, that was my initial hesitation about what the library was about, it actually freaked me out a bit 😳 I wanted to approach it as looking for light in the middle of all of the potential darkened, and I think I found lots of it 💡 I am so glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks so much for your kind support. All the best.
yes, it's amazing. I got it the day after came out. It is huge with so much stunning content. I am a big fan of Spitfire, everyone of their products I have are essential for me now. They all have such polish and sublime audio quality. You could spend years going through these things and never reach the end. 10/10
So glad you are enjoying Solstice. It holds so many surprises inside of the deep content provided. You could really spend days in the Cassette Tape Orchestra. Thanks so much for watching. All the best.
So glad you enjoyed the walkthrough. I think you will find so much to discover with Solstice, the Cassette Tale Orchestra is full of untapped potential. Thanks so much for watching along with your kind support, much appreciated. All the best.
Helpful as always - thanks for the walkthrough! Sounds a lot like the instruments used by Dead Can Dance (4AD) Not to mention, I had no idea this one library had so many different sections!
Albion Solstice does have a different sound due to being recorded at Castle Sound studios instead of the usual places, it gives things a different sonic personality. Thanks so much for watching.
@@PraiseTracks Thanks for sharing your review. I'm on a quest to find and enter as many contests as I can to win Albion Solstice. From all the reviews I'm seeing, the consensus seems to be that this is the best Spitfire Audio library yet!
It is indeed a very unusual library but one full of so many possibilities. Remember that the introductory pricing is for a short time. Also if you own another ALBION library you will receive an additional discount. Thanks so much for watching. All the best.
@@PraiseTracks Thanks for the great content I am a music teacher so I will pick this up with my EDU discount after the intro price is over :) Thanks again for your great overview of this library!
@@ricgus3, That is great. I need to make a bumper sticker that says "A Music Teacher Saved My Life", and I can think of many other things that could be added to that just fill in the bank: A Music Teacher _______ Inspired me, opened new possibilities for me, and on and on. Keep up the wonderful work you are doing. Thanks as well for your very kind support, I am blessed to be able to share on this platform with you.
Spitfire pre-sale weekend again. Get $20 for every $100 spent on libraries that are 40% discounted. So my pal and inspiration Simeon must have done one of his beautiful presentations on Solstice right? He sure did, and to start things off the man gives me goosebumps with a terrific little folky song… Lovely! My main interest / trigger for further research is the fact these recordings were made at Castle Sound studio, where one of my favourite Scottish band used to record (The Blue Nile). I’m sure you’d like their music too Simeon. Anyway… thanks for making these cool videos. Invaluable.
This has such a unique character to it, especially the strings where they experimented with the DPA spot ultra close mics. Lots of fun to be had. It is also worth noting that the Originals Intimate Grand Piano was also recorded at Castlesound. Thanks as always my dear friend for the kind support and confidence. Joyfully!
Omg I just finished paying off my 5th Spitfire Library.... but you talked me into it lol! Your breakdowns are always so helpful. Second time you've helped me make a final decision. Thanks :)
It’s always a pleasure. I hope you find much joy and success in your projects as you experience what these amazing libraries can help you achieve. Thanks so much for the kind support. All the best.
LOVE the solstice song......un-notated tradition is similar to the world of folk tales/fairy tales: the oral tradition--stories passed down from "unlettered" authors and eventually written down and becoming literary folk/fairy tales. Beautiful demonstration!
Thanks so much. I really love the unexpected moments when I just find myself waking up in the middle of a song. The sounds really have a way of taking you into those interesting places. Did you watch till the very end? I did get a little carried away. 🤓 I so appreciate the kind support. All the best.
@@PraiseTracks I did make it to the end...the gorgeous Celtic tune starting around 48:30 was inspirational...you did not get carried away---you were "in the moment." I also LOVED layering the nursery with the piano pad--superb!
Omar, Looking back at this, I might have misspoke. I pulled it up just now and am not finding a specific way to do the transposition. I did notice that it responds to pitch bend, so I am able to shift it that way. You can also use the TUNE knob at the top of the Kontakt interface to shift the pitch that way, the only thing is going to extreme in one direction or the other might cause some artifacts. Sorry for the confusion but hope this gives you a little help. Joyfully.
Hi there. You are one hell of a musician. I am in awe of your talent. I do have a question. What software are you using to show what notes, chords, and intervals you are playing on the video. Let Spitfire know I bought Albion Solstice based on your review!
I am so grateful for the support, sharing and letting the developers know about the videos is very helpful, and I really appreciate it. For the on screen display, I use an application from Gospel Musicians called MIDIculous. It not only features the onscreen displays but also allows you to load an audio file and change the speed so you can use it as a learning tool. I am also working on ways to provide some video clips you can load into it to learn. You can learn more at www.midiculous.com All the best!
@@PraiseTracks yeaaa its def in my top 5 favorite movie scores along with jurassic park theme, leaving hogwarts and fawkes the phoenix from harry potter and fairytale from shrek
I am not a fan of the spitfire dry sound. It sounds unnatural. The strings are especially bothersome. When you release the keys, the sound just dies as if the life got sucked out of them. This is a problem with spitfire - either too much verb or too dry. Not a natural decay, but truncated.
So this was the first library that they did at Castle Sound Studios, which really did put things into that drier environment. Air Lyndhurst is the very opposite being very wet. I agree that I find the “sucking” effect problematic at times and try to find ways to lessen it somehow. Thanks so much for the feedback. All the best.
