I am really enjoying bringing these libraries into the Unify ecosystem, there is a grand scheme that is shaping up to be the source of Unify being the hub of a "meta" Orchestration Template. The more titles we can unify the closer we can get to something amazing. When adding a reverb, also look at adding BRUSFRI to take care of the studio and ambient noise.

I will definitely have to get this one. There's a few other Originals, and a few from the SA Recordings line, that are on my Spitfire Audio wishlist. But this one has moved to the top. I just need to get through this month and next, cause I"m almost as broke as an artichoke! Plus there's the NI summer sale, and I want to upgrade my KK Ultimate 12 to KK Ultimate Collector's Edition 13 this month. So I'm prioritizing! What's really nice about this is how it's designed and curated for film, and how it fits well with other Spitfire libraries. And since Christian is a media composer, he really gets it. Thanks Simeon, for another well done demonstration!

And even if it's something I already have, I still want to watch your videos to learn about the features and the sounds, and some of the contexts they can be used in. I did catch that little video Christian did about creating this library. It's nice that he loves processors, hardware synths, and gadgets, and combines that experience with his orchestral and scoring experiences, and all of his sampling experience. Greetings! This may sound like a "noob" question, but how do I run Cinematic Pads as stand-alone? Just as it is showing on your computer screen, herein. I just recently ordered and downloaded it, yet I remain completely stumped on how to actually OPEN this instrument interface and play it, as-is (via my midi keyboard which is already installed on my computer and all drivers functional). Racking my mind as to which folder I am to open and/or which master file to execute? The Spitefire website instructions for Cinematic Pads are not very helpful on this specific subject (very limited information on running the application), because the information only pertains to "opening inside a DAW as a plug-in." However, I am not wanting to use it as a DAW plug-in, but as a stand-alone application for live performance/audio output. Just as is the case in this demonstrational video that you have, here. How did you actually open this instrument? What am I missing? Is it something so obvious that I am overlooking it? Note: I have been a user of other sample libraries/instrument interfaces such as Native Instruments (currently using the latest Kontakt version 7), Waves Audio, Lunacy Audio (Cube player/interface), Arturia (Pigments 4, Augmented Brass, Augmented Strings), etc, etc, and have NEVER had any problems, whatsoever, as stand-alone functionality of these other sample content providers. So what's the deal with Spitfire? Where is its stand-alone "player" application for loading its sample libraries/instruments? And where is the root content folder, for that matter? Thanks in advance. (P.S. I do love what Spitefire is doing, to be clear, and very impressed by the content. But I have become frustrated as to how I am to just simply play the sample library, in a stand-alone GUI interface window. Where do I launch the interface/player? What have I overlooked? Very perplexed and stumped.)

@PraiseTracks 11 месяцев назад
Hello my friend. So I am sorry for the confusion. I actually capture the plugin window for the display, there is not a standalone version of the Spitfire plugins, I run everything for my videos and livestreams through my DAW. When you install the library through the Spitfire App you can designate the location for the VST and VST3 plugin locations in the settings. After the install you would need to rescan for new plugins inside of your host application. Sorry for the short response, I got your message as my flight was landing and wanted to get back to you as soon as I could as I know how frustrating things can be. Let me know how things go and if I can be of any further assistance. Thanks for watching. Joyfully!

@PraiseTracks Wow. I am most grateful for your thoughtful reply! I didn't even expect it so rapidly. Haha. Please travel safely, Simeon! BTW: A pleasure to make your acquaintance, as I being a recent finder-turned-immense fan of your channel! In any case, now that is beginning to make sense. So, what you are saying is that once I open Spitfire Cinematic Pads as a plug-in inside of a DAW, the GUI window for the instrument will then appear? The thing is, up until now, I have only used DAWS for intensive audio-based production (actual wav manipulation through intricate graphical splicing/dicing, chopping up, extruding, combining, etc), not MIDI control. I am relatively new to the world of MIDI control beyond basic instrumentation. I have always enjoyed the challenge, even preferring (albeit tedious and painstaking work) in "micro-manipulation" of recorded sound, via wav engineering. Hence, the world of MIDI plug-ins is a new horizon for me. Moreover, I have relented in still relying upon "obsolete" DAWS to record said audio output of stand-alone virtual instruments as well as hardware instruments, in manipulating and mastering my production that way. Again - much more tedious and time-consuming going that route, but also more rewarding and robust (due to much finer resolution and needle-point accuracy in sound design.) But, anyway - okay. I guess if I want to access the audio instrumentation of Cinematic Pads that badly (*if* being the operational word), then MIDI DAW plug-ins here I come. Bahhh. Side note: Currently running on older Sonar (Calkwalk) DAWS, as I have never had any legitimate resson to spend on the "latest and greatest" DAW, if all I ever have done is direct audio (wav) manipulation. Since even the "obsolete" Sonar DAWS from as far back as 2008 (Sonar Studio 7 is what I mostly still use to this day) could sample at 96kHZ, and also backwards compatible with legacy 32-bit applications, on top of its 64-bit native architecture. A dual compatibility that many of the "newest" DAWS no longer support. I call that a handicap, not an "update", to lock out loyal consumers from no longer being able to work with a treasure trove of legacy content that they invested into. What's more, anything beyond a 96kHZ sampling rate is more than would ever be enough outside of overkill. (Even 48kHZ is sufficient for most projects to the current day.) But, I digress. I guess I will have to resort to obtaining "new" DAW software, if I want to use non-standalone plug-ins of recent release that require up-to-date compatibility. Thankfully, there is the [as for now] free offer of Cakewalk by Bandlab, without having to fork out yet more $$$ just to use Spitfire content for audio output. Thanks so much, again. I will report back on my "noobish" plunge into the deep end of the MIDI plug-in pool. 😆🤣 And again - travel safely, my new and treasured friend!
@PraiseTracks

It is my pleasure. So I have been a Cakewalk user since the late 90’s starting with Pro Audio 6 ;^) I am currently running the latest version of the free Cakewalk by BandLab which has been very stable and is how I run all of my productions and livestreams, it is a very viable platform still and there are exciting things on the horizon. Your audio work sounds very intriguing indeed. So I would be remiss in not mentioning you take a look at UNIFY. UNIFY is an amazing tool that is not only a plugin but is also a plugin host that allows you to do some amazing things in a standalone fashion while giving you the flexibility to use it inside of your DAW as well. @@PraiseTracks Hello, again, Simeon! My sincere apologies for such an extended delay before getting back to your last reply. I have been caught up in a whirlwind of events and projects, for the past month, and so I've lost track of this thread and am just returning to it, now. Thank you, so kindly, in making the suggestion for me to look into obtaining UNIFY (by Pluginguru, correct?) So, if I am understanding you correctly on what you're saying, UNIFY will allow me to run virtually any VST/VST2/VST3 plug-in in stand-alone mode (via GUI window), without needing to open up a DAW to route said plug-ins via the assignment of tracks. Which means that many of the plug-ins released by Spitefire such as the "Originals" series - with no true stand-alone mode of their own (nor the implementation of a Kontakt library interface .nki instrument extension) - will now be able to run in a stand-alone window, much like Kontakt libraries do? No DAW opening and track assignment needed? Is that what you are saying? If so, then I will surely be placing UNIFY on my to-buy list! It appears to be currently offered at $79. (The basic package). Is that the one I need? Thanks again, in advance, for your experienced advice and taking the time out of your busy schedule to help!
@PraiseTracks
@PraiseTracks 10 месяцев назад
@Anarkosm , Yep, and so much more! I actually created a lot of the Spitfire Originals patch libraries for Unify, you can find them on the Plugin Guru site, of course you have to have the libraries first, the patch library makes it easier to pull things into Unify. Also, checking out some of the older livestreams on the Plugin Guru channel is a must as you will learn so much and be inspired by what you can do. The current state of Unify is the Standard edition. There are plans to release some paid updates (multiple audio outs, and external audio input are a few things that might be introduced then). I hope that my input has been helpful. Unify is an amazing but sometimes complicated solution but one well worth discovering. Joyfully yours!

Simeon, I watched sonuscore competition there and all the entrants are all online with their stuff. Maybe you know about this sample library. I did a test and asked my wife to listen to all the contestants and asked her opinion. She said that the first thing she hears is that they are all the same except for one perhaps. Would you agree that we are being funnelled into sameness by these sample making companies? The above samples are great but for me, they are just different "sameness" if you get my drift. A related issue is that these samples are produced for composers who can't actually play but they have enough fingers to create an atmosphere. For example SA are now selling recycled libraries with just different mic positions! For me, that sums it up. I'd be interested to know what you think. Brilliant video as always my friend. Praise God for your gift.
@PraiseTracks
@PraiseTracks 3 года назад
It is indeed a slippery slope but not unlike when presets were first introduced in digital synthesizers back in their day, the DX7 and D50 come to mind. When those keyboards were introduced you could not hear many popular songs without hearing either the DX7 Electric piano or D50's Native Dance ;^) and the entire Seinfeld series music was centered around the M1 slap bass. I need to check out the entries, but I have done several videos of Sonuscore's The Orchestra Complete and Elysion, which are wonderful libraries. Sonuscore is also part of the development team around the new East West Orchestrator for their libraries. Speaking about Spitfire, although these were taken from the Legacy Albion, Christian Henson actually ran them through his ginormous modular synth and effects rack which allowed him to produce some of the amazing textures here. So not actually "mic" positions but rather different Texture Perspectives, it is amazing and I feel I might not have covered that aspect of it as I should have. Definitely check out Christian's video on his processing of the orchestral material. Thanks as always for your kind support and encouragement, it really means so much. All the best, and to God be the glory!
@PraiseTracks
@PraiseTracks 3 года назад
OK, so I did try and watch some of the entries and was very unimpressed. I think the voiceover addition was very distracting and got in the way of things insomuch that I tried to advance past that section until there was just the orchestration. I agree with your observations on these as well, I would be interested in the one you thought stood out. Thanks again for the amazing support, I so appreciate it!

@@PraiseTracks Yes Simeon, my bigger point is that folk like you who are players are becoming fewer and fewer by the year. It seems that the sample manufacturers know this trend and are creating libraries that give you a great orchestral/cinematic effect based on minimal knowledge and "minimal finger movement". The sample manufacturers are doing great jobs etc giving us these wonderful sounds etc... however because the tool/product are a "one fits all", it leaves composers with little room to manoeuvre creatively. Therefore we are eating the same food but with different dressings. I know we can't afford real orchestras but the bigger issue is that composers are now told that they don't need to learn it because the tool will do it all for you. But is it? That sonuscore summed it up for me when I asked my wife to select and she couldn't because they were very similar. We both liked what Harvey did with the choir and was the only one who used a choir but the orchestrations were basically all the same. (Interesting that no-one used "the devils interval - augmented 4th"!) Anyhow when you consider all the different genres of music over the centuries, we are still stuck in the same ole one for decades. Is it because these guys aren't players? Is it that this is what the market wants (although these sounds are not winning oscars anymore) or is it that they are musically in a straitjacket because metaphorically they are each given blue paper, one pencil, and shapes to adhere to and are asked to create a new form of art but they can't because everyone is using the same materials to create. Anyhow Simeon, you are the best and always enjoy our chats.

Vortex, if you have the original Albion 1 legacy then you will get Cinematic Pads free, as it does use some of the original material.
