Being a year into Splatoon 3's life and having gone through many splatfests since it's release I decided to speculate what possible themes Splatoon 3's finalfest could be. I put my 3 favorites into this video and what possible outcomes they could give us for the future of the Splatoon series. Glad to be back with new videos for you all, I ended up scrapping a video concept before this one which lead to a longer delay between videos than expected which I apologize for, I'll see you all very soon, take care of yourselves :)

my personal finalfest pick is “which would you rather live in” the past vs the present vs the future not even as like a weird time travel splatfest but more like “instead of living in the moment, i like to dwell on the past and see how i could’ve changed things.” the outcome of this fest potentially being: returning to the past with the great turf war and expanding upon that. remaining where we are now and continuing to splatoon 4 in the current mollusk era. or splatoon 4 moving ahead after a massive time jump shrouded in mystery

Ooo 😯, that does sound nice, even if I might be a little more biased for the SS vs OTH vs DC idea (hmmm...maybe we should call it idolfest for short?). 🙂 If this were to happen, I'd want past or future to win, maybe unless that means no Splatoon 4 (3 is my first game, and I wanna enjoy more official splatfests! And more importantly, I don't want this franchise to end what feels too soon after I got into it 😢😭). The only other thing, is that team present might end up at a disadvantage, as this would be another of what Inlike to call a rematch-fest, where 2 of the teams were a Splatfest team in the past (like the money💰 vs fame 😎 vs love ❤️, or 2023 Frosty Fest's Friends vs Family vs Solo), as apparently, Past vs Future was a Splatfest theme back in Splatoon 1 (past wom btw, SOMEHOW; I would've figured that team future would've won for sure, and would've picked it if I had a WiiU, Splatoon, and was more willing to give new games a try, as I might've been a little too afraid to do so out of fear of not liking it and being stuck with it, not to mention having wasted money). Edit: Sorry, forgot to explain, that due to it being a rematch Splatfest, present could possibly be at a disadvantage in said case, because of OG Splatoon fans rushing to pick past or future, in an attempt to maintain/retry claiming victory. That being said, fame probably lost because love and money were already the more popular teams, not.just because of them being returning themes, but also because fame alone doesn't seem as valuable in comparison to the former teams to most people, obviously. And solo won, likely because it probably consisted of the most players who dedicate a good chunk of their free time playing the game, resulting in said players gaining enough experience to make them extra tough opponents (that's probably also why they won the popularity vote; because it's players probably had the most people actually playing in the Splatfest). At least z those are my theories as to why fame lost, whwre solo won, when it comes to ti the new teams in rematch-fests thus far

I thought of a game mode splatfest in the past, but it feels wrong for turf war to be one of the options when splatfests are settled by turf war. I was thinking Anarchy vs Tableturf vs Salmon Run. It fits in with already canon info about Deep Cut, since Frye is the self proclaimed best at Tableturf of the 3 and salmonids tend to ignore Big Man altogether because they supposedly confuse him for a salmonid. And it also fits the running theme of Splatfests since Shiver is almost guaranteed a win, Big Man would have a chance of sniping, and Frye is screwed! :P

For those honorable mentions, I got a few ideas: For Shark vs. Eel vs. Ray, it could deeply affect story mode, as that creature could become a protector to an upcoming threat (Maybe the two losing teams), but the winner is also worshiped in this land. For DJ Octavio vs. Commander TarTar vs. Mr. Grizz, maybe the winner could end up realizing they are recognized, so they start changing their ways. For the other two, maybe they just wouldn't care. For Splatoon 1 vs. Splatoon 2 vs. Splatoon 3, the only idea is that Splatoon 4 would be most similar to whichever game wins.

Here's my take on the Final Splatfest. Where do you want to explore more? Land, Space, or the Sea? I think it'll be cool if we can battle in space or battle inside of a cool aquarium or dome. As for land, I can expect like a new location away from the Splatlands. Maybe like an icy environment or something like that. As for the story, I can imagine the characters are struggling to claim more turf for the species. It's kind of like the great turf war scenario. It's up to us to bring peace to both conflicts. I don't know, but I think it'll be cool to have a theme like that.

I feel like maybe sky, space, or sea would be a better theme. Even though shiver has won splatfests countless times it, this theme would even things out. Technically inklings and octolings have already established their home on land, so it would be really interesting to see where their new main city (plus it would be cool to see a cloud city or sky landers inspired city)

Ooooh, and what if maybe each theme is connected in a way, like Land is connected to Octo Valley, Space is connected to the rocket fight at the end of Splatoon 3’s story mode, and the sea is connected to the Deep Sea Metro, maybe as like a shifty station type deal, maybe as the special Final Fest stage it can be an odd mix of those three things, and much like the Splatoon 2 Final Fest, it can have special mechanics and such for each team, like maybe Land has Octavio fists, Space has either a claw swipe, Mr grizz killer wail, or maybe even the rocket octobot vacuum blaster thing we used to defeat grizz, and Sea can maybe have NILS statue mouth laser, or some sort of more train related thing, that’d be dope

The bird vs snake vs boar idea is not only realistic but also an amazing final fest idea. The "where would you rather live" idea just feels like a normal theme to me, and the "pick your favorite idol group" just doesn't seem realistic to me. It would feel weird for shiver and fry to choose a team that isn't their own.

First you misspelled Frye(sorry if that was autocorrect, it’s annoying when I’m just trying to write my oc Molla’s name because it suggests to change it to Molly instead. WTH). Second, each group reps their team. HOW DO YOU NOT THINK THE IDOLFEST ISN’T REALISTIC?! It would work if Splatoon 3 ended up like Splatoon 2 because Splatoon 2 ended up somehow getting another years worth of Splatfests.

Big Man and Shiver would have to swap Teams for “Who’s the best idol group” Shiver being the new leader, she had to take over Deep Cut’s name so it only makes sense for their leader to try and make their group win. Big Man works with the Squid Sisters and helps produce music for them, having a strong bond.

Why not have the other two groups defend their team. The colors of the idols change depending on the town you’re in. So the Sisters defend themselves in Inkopolis Plaza, Off the Hook reps themselves in the Square, and Deep cut reps themselves in Splatsville.

For the best villain theme, instead of being the best villain, it could be whatever fricked up thing they've done to people! Basically a bad (but cool looking) fate! So the splatfest would be Sanitized vs Brainwashed vs Fuzzed! There weould also be special cosmetic effects for each team (can also be applied to best villain, and I originally saw these concepts from a reddit post) Each team would have special gear and ink, and their inkling/octoling would be affected by that fate (Sanitized skin and eyes and idle animations would act more zombie-like, Octarian Tattoo for Brainwashed and have glittery ink, Fuzzed are a bit more wild, and ofc have fuzzy hair and ink)!

Though its pretty similar to the idol group splatfest idea, an alternative idea could be "What's your favorite city; Splatsville, Inkopolis Plaza, or Inkopolis Square?" All of the idol groups would join together to host this splatfest and show the uniqueness of their homes. It could include more lore about each separate city that truly shows how different they are to one another. The splatfest would last for three full days, with each idol group rotating around the three citys and singing a new splatfest song. Each rotation would happen each day (so if you want to still hear a different idol groups song after they rotated, if you have the dlc you could just go to that city to hear them again). Instead of "whats your favorite idol group" or "whats your favorite game", I feel like this final fest could instead have players decide what they enjoy the most out of the environment of all three splatoon games and their cities. Not only could it help the splatoon devs understand what the players would like in Splatoon 4's hub world, but it could also have a story purpose. Perhaps a much greater evil, more powerful than even Mr. Grizz and Tartar, has befallen the splatoon world and the other two cities were destroyed, or an alternative where said other two cities survive and the winning one is used as a hub for the enemies, whoever they may be. Perhaps, due to DJ Octavio helping us in Splatoon 3, maybe the Octarians finally fully ally with the Inklings to take down this threat as an overwhelming army. I feel like it could be really interesting and heartbreaking to either fight your opponents in a place you once viewed as safe, or to walk through those safe places, now destroyed and reduced to rubble. Maybe you could even start as an agent and lose and impossible boss fight against the final boss, watching as those places get destroyed, much like in the "lose situations" of the actual games. Maybe the Great Zapfish isn't even stolen this time, rather destroyed, and the remaining cities are actually plunged into darkness.

I think if they went this route, they could have it where your choice dictates what hub city you have for that splatfest regardless of dlc or not, kinda like how in Squid vs Octopus in Splatoon 2 it gave players who didn’t have Octo expansion the chance to be an octoling. For the announcement, maybe Deep Cut invites the other idol groups on the splatcast for fun and the Splatfest comes out and all three idol groups pitch in their ideas and make it a friendly competition.

i feel like a "which idol group is your favorite" splatfest would be sooo cool. maybe instead of deep cut picking the options, all of the idol groups could have their own brodcast stating why theyre the best. maybe depending on which group you choose, you go to that groups respective hubworld (ss: inkopolis plaza, oth: inkopolis square, and dc: splatsville) like how for the squid vs. octo splatfest you got to change to a specific species!!

I think the pick your poisons idea is AWESOME. And it would make sense for each character to choose their team, maybe Deep Cut would even have a big fight before the Splatfest about it and make up afterwords - raising the stakes like the Splatoon 2 did while also making sense for their characters since they were each made to represent that poison. I was also thinking for impact, that the winning poison will be the next game’s villain. For greed, it will be a figure like Mr Grizz (or maybe even just Mr Grizz again) who exploits people for money, for Anger it could be a group of octarians who refuse to make peace with inklings (or maybe some inklings who don’t like octarians in their cities), and for Ignorance it could be someone fighting for what they think is right or using propaganda to cover their villainous schemes. I think the poisons idea is honestly the best, especially since it stands out as choosing from three bad options rather than neutral or good options like basically every other splatfest.

I could see Splatoon 4 having a bit longer of a time skip. The conflict that started alongside the results of the Final Fest has been going on for awhile now, and the story mode is focused on the mc fighting alongside (and against) inklings, octolings, octarians, and the other marine life races (maybe including some salmonids?) in a pretty massive conflict similar to the turf wars Cuttlefish and Octavio lived through. The storymode covering the conclusion to the conflict and reaching a peace which would also bring greater implications for the world as a whole (like changing how splatfest results are treated in their society or exploring the mystery behind splatfest selection a bit) Also, i think another way to go about any of the splatfest ideas where several characters are pitted against each other is making the winner embody the worst or opposite aspect of their team, (or have it become a dominant force in general) while the loser is the opposite, and the remaining team is either neutral or a separate party. That could maybe help with the whole Best Idol Group Splatfest idea or the poisons one you brought up. (Like for poison the winner could become the worst their poison embodies, while the loser could become the opposition to their poison, and the last in between) think it's a really cool idea.

Well i feel a big part of splatoon is thequestions, even tho the fans sometimes ignore them, for bird snake and boar, the question could be. What would you like to overcome, shivers greed (she loves money), fryes anger (she gets fired up fast), and big mans ignorance (has been shown to prefer living alone and was labled as while more grounded than shiver and frye he js very biased for his own views).

the ones i've though of are mind/body/soul, past/present/future, and earth/sky/sea. i really like pick your poison splatfest, i feel like the potential for it is really high. i still think mind/body/soul would be the super cool

I have come from the time after side orders release and I noticed something that made me believe that the pick your poison splatfest is likely going to be the finalfest. So, spoiler alert, after you complete side order, you unlock inkopolis square and in it is the train station. In splatoon 2 it looked as though they were constructing something, because all the metal bars and things, where the train station is so maybe they already planned splatoon 3 and the dlc for whatever outcome was of the final fest and maybe they also did that for splatoon 4.

DJ Octavio vs Tartar vs Mr. Grizz could determine the aesthetic of the next game. DJ Octavio puts the hub in Octo Valley/Canyon, with an all-octoling idol group. Lots of floating platforms, gushers, ride rails, etc. This could mean carrying weapons around in the hub world. Tartar gives the next city an art style inspired by Octo Expansion and Side Order, with the lore being that the place was established by the Denizens of the Deep. The lobby would be a train station, with C.Q Cumber serving Judd's role as tip giver. Mr Grizz would have the next city use the scrappy aesthetic of Salmon Run with some Alterna elements thrown in. The battle tower could be made from pieces of the spaceship used by Mr. Grizz and/or Ark Polaris, kitchen utensils scattered throughout the city, a Holland-style wall with turrets to keep the salmon tides out, and, of course, 🗿. Although, it wouldn't make sense in-universe to have a splatfest of 3 villians who most the populous don't even know about, so instead it could be phrased as something like: Which style is freshest? Hypno, Sanitized, or Fuzzy? And like Splatoon 2's final fest, there would be cosmetics given to you depending on your team, with a pair of hypnoshades for Hypno, Sanitized shades for Sanitized (along with sanitized ink colors) and fuzzy octoling goggles for Fuzzy. If we want to get really crazy, the goggles could have kelp that grows with your splatfest rank.

5:10 The first one could be like a ridable companion in the next game, so you could ride a shark, use the eel like a skateboard in the air, or ride a manta ray. This could also change the setting so that traversing with the companion is easier (sharks = water, eel = sky stuff or really tall buildings, manta ray = idk).

That honestly sounds really fun! However for the rideable Manta Ray companion, maybe you could use it like a hang glider and/or a hoverboard. Possibly either, depending on the type of area or stage. As for the rideable eel companion, you could skate, fly and borrow into ditches Plus as a fun extra detail, aside from splatfests and Big Runs (If they still so Big Runs in Splatoon 4, sometimes the splatfests could even double as racing events, where you can race with your companion

I have a theory. In the Final Splatfest, the final boss songs that play in battles might change depending on what main hub you have selected. For example: If your main hub is Inkopolis Plaza, The original Calamari Inkantation would play in battles. If your main hub is Inkopolis Square, Spicy Calamari Inkantation and Fly Octo Fly would play in battles. If your main hub is Splatsville, Calamari Inkantation 3MIX and Spectrum Obligato - Ebb and Flow (Out of Order) would play in battles.

I’ve always been a fan of a past vs future vs present, not necessarily in that order for the idols. It could be a “if you could time travel would you go to the past future or stay in the present?” Type of question It could influence how the next games plaza would look with a futuristic style, a style from the past say “squid Victorian” or something or with present style that incorporates something from all the plazas so far and a touch of “remember the past and anticipate the future” As for the story, if past wins it could be a new villain trying to revive the past. It could be something similar to Tartar, like wanting to revert everything back to primordial form or something like Mr. Grizz with reviving mammals but those might be overdone. Maybe instead it’ll straight up revive humans, not create a new world with more intelligent life or bring back mammals in general but straight up humans with the “true” villain being Mini Judd with the respective idol being a front man If it’s the future, villain wants use technology to enthrall everyone now and in the future be the absolute ruler and uses what they think is a device that gives them glimpses into the future to make sure they’re on the right track and uses the idol as a marketing strategy. Cut to the hero actually time traveling to the future and seeing everyone controlled by their technology in a “the future is for the machines organic life is servitude” kind of way. If it’s present, uhhhh I don’t have anything for that one.

a really interesting one would be: "what species is your favorite?" but instead of snake, boar, and bird, it would be "octoling, inkling, and salmonid" and like that it could really set up a story of a great turf war 2 for the next game

I really find the Idol Group Splatfest to be unlikely because you have to consider their motives, why would 2 of the Deep cut members be on team Squid Sisters or Off the Hook and not well.. Deep cut?

Splatoon 1’s final fest decided the characters of splatoon 2, splatoon 2 sort of created aspects of the plot of splatoon 3, assuming we are going off of the three main aspects of a story, splatoon 3’s final fest will be setting, what setting has a trio of possible outcomes, land, sea, sky, Frye is land, shiver is sea, big man is sky, (for clarity, sea is like pirate, or some creature that can swim)

I have a great idea for how the Poisons Splatfest could affect the next game! Basically think it could be the villain's main flaw/motivation: for instance Greed would be a villain driven by a lust for power and anger would be a villain driven by a desire for revenge. Ignorance is a lot more abstract, but I think it could involve the antagonist's refusal to accept change (and maybe trying to return the inklings and octolings to the ocean?) If anyone has a better idea for Ignorance lmk

I'd go for mind vs body vs heart, it's a more symmetrical set of complicated, prime concepts which would follow the trend of the last games with chaos vs order, or idol A vs idol B, while remaining mysterious for what they would entail.

For the 4th it could be based on the four elements of alchemy and while also have a bit of a fate theming because the number 4 is considered unlucky in Asia, 1 - fire - burning 2 - air - suffocation 3 - water - drowning 4 - earth- burial

The winner of it is so predictable, the Japanese city would definitely win because of the majority of the player base being japanese, naturally they’re gonna want to see their culture in the next game. It just doesn’t really feel fair for team frye and big man

4:00 I think you can actually sort of tie this to each campaigns villains in a way, The inkling of ignorant towards the octarians situation, Inklings partake in salmon run and trying to get as many golden eggs as they can (which could be seen as greedy) and the main antagonist of side order is just a very angry person

Now that all 3 idol groups are performing in Splatoon 3, an idol group final fest has some serious potential. Imagine this: each idol group represents themselves, so members of each idol group perform in one another's cities. Anarchy poisons would have Marina with Ebb & Flow, Callie with Bomb Rush Blush, and Big Man with Anarchy Poisons. Meanwhile, in Inkopolis Plaza, Pearl and Shiver are performing a cover of City of Color, and in the Square Marie and Frye are doing a cover of Color Pulse. Then, for the second day, the idols switch around, so Marie, Pearl, and Big Man perform Anarchy Rainbow, Marina and Frye perform Ink Me Up, and Callie and Shiver perform Fly Octo Fly.

As for how it could impact the next game, perhaps it could determine the style of music and overall aesthetic of Splatoon 4? For instance, if the Squid Sisters win, the next city would be a historical place (somewhere full of memorials and stuff), with bands playing classical instruments like string pianos and bagpipes. If Off The Hook wins, Splat 4 could take us to Octo Valley, which has been recently renovated after DJ Octavio opens its borders, with an Idol group consisting of rival Octolings and Octarians. Lots of techy music. If Deep Cut wins, the next city will lean even further into the blend of cultures aspect, perhaps as a sort of pioneer aesthetic as marine life from various cultures set up a foothold in new territory. Bands would vary widely in genre; Country, Salsa, Celtic, etc.

the splatoon 1 vs 2 vs 3 one would be terrifying because it could decide the game balance and process of splatoon 4 if 1 wins, 4 goes back to the roots with less balance and more fun focused weapons and stages if 2 wins, 4 tries to add more competitive value while also keeping stages gimmicky and sizable for both playerbases and if 3 wins, 4 continues to be straight lines and full competitive focus ..3 winning sounds miserable and i hope that does not happen edit: not to mention that this would take place in splatoon 3 and splatoon 3 is the best selling of the trio. itd have a reallyyyy big advantage

Hypothetically if Futuristic vs. Desertic vs. Tropical happens, Im personally on Team Futuristic. (Not because im a shiver simp, just hear me out.) Team Desertic is just no. If anything it ruins the point of Splatoon of it being in a big city. If it was based on the Wild West I'd kinda see it but aside from that, no. Tropical i can almost see happening, but theres one problem. Where would be the news? The tv's? The shops? The WIFI? If the inkling and octolings have 5G then i could be possible but still no. Futuristic i can see happening the most and the team im personally on. It's literally the spirit of splatoon. In Splatoon 1, it was a regular plaza. In Splatoon 2, it was close to Town Square like in New York. And in Splatoon 3, it's a big city. And Splatoon 4 being even more advanced and maybe with a new species would be perfect!

If callie won, would Marie have went missing, or would it still be the same? 1. Side order was based off of chaos winning the final splatfest, while order lost, hence splatsville being all anarchy and stuff, and the said side order dlc. I think my favourite theme would be one that dictates a new playable species of characters in Splatoon 4. Like Manta Ray's, Jellyfish, Shrimp, or even something new like a Shark. Then, whoever wins can have a new city modeled after that particular species' culture.

Futuristic vs Desertic vs Tropical would be nice. That third honorable mention wouldn't work as Splatoon 3 is some players first Splatoon game, it caters too much too much towards the veterans that have been there since the beginning.

As much as I like the poisons one we have to remember it’s rated 7 . Not that a 7 year old couldn’t handle it but pick your poison isn’t the best theme to end it on. They’d want something fun like the idol one. Personally I love the poison one and judging by the image 3:25 it also shows ouroboros which Nintendo seems to be obsessed with lately (Splatoon,Zelda,Xenoblade)

Here's my idea, Land vs. Sea vs. Sky The winner affects the city in S4, Land wins - Normal-ish City (Like Inkopolis) Sea wins - Maybe like a harbor city. Sky wins - A metropolis woth sky-high building, similar to Crableg Capital's surroundings.

I still think there is a chance for a 3rd wave of dlc. it just doesnt seem right that we have only seen a quarter of the splatlands at most and deeo cut has had minimal involvement storywise. would be a chance for agent 4 to show up as well. like perhaps we are bandits with deep cut and we stumble upon 4 and some plan by some guy or something
