Split Barge Corksand - Discharging at sea 

I was on one of these , though we carried rock , building the breakwater at Rhos on Sea , N Wales coast

Interesting video. I had seen the Corksand in May at Cuxhaven (Germany).

By 'eck! Pitty the poor bastard who's out on the dredge material when a misinformed crew member pouches the lever to open the bottom hatches!

How do they empty the resultant water after they close the bottom of the barge.? Or do they just leave it in there until it goes out when the next load is dumped?

The Maricavor barge was good to watch during operations on the Tyne. I spent a couple of days just watching it from under the red lighthouse on the Groyne, no videos though. I'd love to see a drivers eye view on the Komatsu backhoe! How do they know what's been dredged already and what hasn't? Amazing stuff.
