I believe they *did* briefly advertise for new members, but this was during the difficult period around 76/77 following not only Phil Judd's departure but also the rhythm section

What a fluke indeed that they had the talent and tenacity to stick around until it worked out. Pure kiwi gold!

Fantastic insight and I especially loved the glimpse of the old bridge at the end :)

I remember as a kid in year 6 in the 80s I asked my friend at school if he liked girls....he stared at me silently and suddenly replied, no!...I like Split Enz. :) that was 32 years ago I first heard of them. Awesome band.

@Coldacre This footage is from the January 1983 "Enz of an Era" concert the group perfomed in His Majesty's Theatre (NZ). I know this thanks to having read Mike Chunn's book "Stranger Than Fiction" (MUST read for all Enz fans).

Eddie looks like David Bowie in the beginning of the clip. Nice popped collar there, Tim.

Yeah, Tim always looks so surly. Never heard of him being a bully, though. Any anecdotes?

What is the song they're rehersing at 5:49?
@bernardjharmsen304
@bernardjharmsen304 7 лет назад
The song at 5.49 is a cover of fellow kiwis the La De Das hit 'On Top Of The World' which is actually a John Mayall original

But why didn't they release "Amy" as a single? I reckong that would have been a great A-side, perhaps backed by Maybe.

Tim Finn is an arrogant self centred bully....Neil however is a legend.

I think Tim is a lot more complex than that.
