I use to heat my home with splid wood for over 30 years. It would take 5 trailer loads of wood to do that per year. The way this looks, a guy could have the machine split the wood over the top of the trailer thus eliminating the need to hand-load the trailer. That would have been awesome. Great video Captain!!!
@CaptainKleeman
@CaptainKleeman Год назад
Absolutely, that's one of the cool things about it. Aside from cutting the tree down, you don't ever have to touch the wood

The evolution of axe to small box store log splitters to the machine mounted wood processors. Not only do they get more advanced and complicated, but more expensive. In the end, it all depends on your budget and justifiable need.

Okay. Now that I’ve got the wood chips out of my eyes from being in the line of fire for the action shot I realize I’m slipping up and not being fully prepared with all the required PPE to watch a Captain Kleeman video. I’m sure in an 8 hour day you’ll split a huge pile of wood if you aren’t running a commentary and moving cameras around for all the great action shots. I predict that the pile of logs you have prepped will be gone much faster than you think.

I just finished putting a backup camera on my skid steer and video’d it. It does have a second input, so you could also mount a second camera like you did and done! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Cut and split all the firewood to heat my moms house thru high school and college. Although I’ve moved beyond that I will always have a passion for the tools and process’s behind it. Not sure how innovative my idea is, probably saw it somewhere before and just copying it. A metal square tube mounted thru a sleeve with locking screws could be mounted to the top of the splitting wedge reaching back towards the saw. Adjust the needed length and lock it down. It will stop the log moving forward when the log hits the end of the tube. The splitting sled with cut wood will continue forward under it. Just clamp the log in place before retracting the sled. You can get fancy and make it with various lengths and drilled holes for pins instead of friction locking screws. Also could devise a mount that’s removable so you can switch between wedges. Not sure if C&C wants you welding to it. 😂 hence the idea of making it removable. This certainly is the nicest style of splitter I’ve seen if you have something to power it.
