I think its great for those times you have lots of heavy big logs to split up without breaking your back. Its not any slower than rolling them over by hand, lifting up onto a top loading splitter and you have to move the split pieces then too all in the same spot where you can cherry pick the big chunks, grab, move then split into a nice pile to pickup later. Great concept. Would be nice for smaller tractor too if having the appropriate hydraulics up front anyhow.

I have a 20 ton inverted splitter i use on my kioti 2610..its not breaking any speed records but i love it and my back doesnt hurt

That's a genius idea, I love it. I really needed something like that last year, I had to split lots of 4ft - 5ft beech rounds. You can pick up large pieces and dump them whilst splitting, you could say that Paul picked it up quickly 😉 I appreciate this splitter might not be for everyone, but then again splitting wood isn't for everyone. I have a splitter I run on the back of my 1023e. I've had no problems with it and it gets the job done

Seems like the biggest negative about the SS 2824 is that the ram doesn't have a relief cut for the wedge, so it can't shove it far enough forward, resulting in the wood hanging on the wedge. What I'm looking at is one for my mini-ex, made by Split Fire (model 4209).

I guess this was ok. No one on this video promoted Paul's Channel.

Looks good to me Brock. Big rounds would be easy to handle and good way to get them down to size you can handle. Wolf ridge makes great products.

Its one tool you can use in your wood processing. For me, it's going to make my life so much easier. I get all tree service wood and most of it is 24" plus and the time and effort it takes to noodle those down so I can move them is exhausting. I can pick up the logs with my backhoe thumb, cut the rounds into one pile then pick up the rounds with the new splitter, swing around and split and pile up into more manageable pieces right next to my splitter. No more noodling, no more trying to roll huge rounds to the splitter etc. There is no perfect way to do wood! Unless you're spending 150K on a actual processor that can handle everything you throw at it you're trying to find what works for you. I'll gladly give up 5 minutes in a day to not have to maneuver 100+ lb pieces of wood.

Great video .We have a Wolf Ridge SHO splitter and a conveyor, great units USA MADE. Split Fire makes some skid steer units, there units split in both directions. They also make units for excavators .we have on for our takeuchi mini ex and it is great for large rounds.We have a commercial firewood business so it helps with the large wood that our other machines cant handle .

I think that splitter is great. Grab the wood from a pile or where ever, move to the pile and split it... nice and easy, not touching it a dozen times, plus gives me another reason to buy a skid steer...lol. thx for the video

For me, it's all about getting the wood split. The skid steer splitter for the big rounds is a great way. I see people posting about using the expensive machine to split, but for the big rounds, use it to pick up and move the rounds to the top loading splitter is the same usage. If y'all are worried about the hours on the machine - My question is what did you purchase the machine for? if you don't want to use it then why did you purchase it? Nice machine, I have used one a couple times and loved it,

I have a homemade splitter for my skid steer. It’s definitely not for speed, but when your are getting big red oak, poor ash for nothing, it’s worth the price. No diameter is to big. I just chop it small enough to lift and finish them off on the 30 ton.

I think a skid steer splitter can be a very useful tool for alot of people. Brock have you ever used a horizontal skid steer wood splitter versus the Wolf Ridge vertical wood splitter in this video? People say that it is easier to see what you are doing with the horizontal style splitter. IDK. Maybe a comparison video would be interesting?

There are splitters on the market that connect to tractor hydraulics those are slick too, BUT you have to lift the round into it. Not having to lift the big rounds.. count me in

Howdy Brock! Like you said... that particular tool is for a niche market. If someone is overly criticizing it, they ain't in the niche lol. I don't know why some of these keyboard commandos have to be on the offensive so much. Maybe they are just miserable people, and for some reason they feel obligated to share their misery with the rest of us. If I offer up some constructive criticism I try to bookend it with some positives as well. Luckily my channel isn't big enough to attract the whiners yet. Keep up the good work my friend! looks like you could fire em right into the back of a truck or a trailer, if stacked in tight wasn't a priority, i really don't see a reason to complain about its function and would be happy to hang one off my bobcat if i had enough wood volume at home to justify the expense, but in louisiana we only get a winter about every 10 years, while the ac runs 9.5 months of the year, every other year

Why not split that big round that was sitting there, that is what it would be useful for, stuff to big for a man to move by himself! Will it do that?

The big logs its meant to split, it doesnt split. Piston looks too weak and looks like the vertical splitter is too short. I would never use a system like this.

The pieces are a mess and not split cleanly. Lots of shards.

How could anyone not like being able to sit in a climate controlled cab and move huge rounds around and drop the splits in a pile ? Never having to lay a hand on them a single time. Take my money please.

I built small boats no one had ever seen the type. Any product that's breaking an old traditional image is met with universal criticism...at first Hang in there, but recognize flaws, make adjustments, and continue the concept. It takes time for the public to get their heads around it.
