Let’s be honest, not all beauty products worth spending a lot of money on. And especially if you’re on a budget, which most of us are, you might wanna check this video out ! Here are the products I believe it’s worth splurging on and I will also mention where you should save ! Please remember this is just an opinion, the truth is I do not know you, your life or your priorities so please do not feel judged, pressed in any way to follow my advices.

I love your philosophy behind why you choose to splurge at the end. The “I don’t know you” part had me laughing and smiling because for so long, RU-vid was saturated with “beauty you tubers” that plugged for a product so hard just because they made commission off of a code, but had no value behind it and would stop using it as soon as their new sponsor came in. You talk about these pieces with value highlighted behind them, breaking it down to how important it is to get your money’s worth of a more expensive product. I wish you would have been around when I was 15-20 😭❤️

Hair stylist here... The mason Pearson brush is all about the name. It’s JUST A BRUSH. If you guys want to know some good ones, let me know none of them are over like 10.00. I also have been a theater/film wig and hair mistress for 25 years. I’ve been around the block a few times . Make up brushes... Wayne Goss brushes. TOTALLY WORTH IT .

I bought the Wayne Goss Eye Brush set, and then I bought the BK Beauty brushes. Lisa J has it all over Wayne Goss. BK brushes, for face and eyes, are the ones I go to again and again.

As a dentist I can say there’s much more than just investment needed for a good tooth brush to be actually beneficial for your teeth. A sonic toothbrush like your Sonicare is worth the investment as an electric one, no matter the price can do more damage than benefit. However a classic toothbrush with soft bristles is just as good as any Sonicare and there’s absolutely no need to splurge on a device for better oral care. Anyhow love the video :)

@@katieosull63 They are all beautiful and unique - depends what colors you love! They work really well as stains and blushes mixed with other creamy products too. I love rosy tones so my favorites are Blush and Myth, but I also really love Jazz out of the reds - they are all beautiful!

I work for a premium beauty brand so nearly all my skin care is free. My mother was a skin care fanatic and she had amazing skin and no wrinkles at all( even though she loved the sun a lot) Her secret was to use something a bit "greasy" as she got older and I have to agree with that. I just turned 50 and I have no wrinkles. I use the Weleda Skin Food only as an eye and lip contour. I do believe most modern formulas for eyecreams do litlle to protect the fine skin around the eyes. I always like to equate it like when you want to keep leather supple, you need to work some grease into it! haha as for shampoos and conditioners I have to disagree. I have very long thick hair and cheaper products are an absolute nightmare for me! I need salon quality ones because in addition the water where I live is quite hard. I use organic castor oil for my eyebrows and eyelashes in my night routine. I like to add almond and/or argain oil to my body lotion and use the argan for my hair applied overnight before I want to wash my hair ( I only wash it every 3 days). The brand Fushi has great organic oils.

I agree on the “greasy” part. Just before I turn in for the night I apply a little bit of pure Shea butter as an eye contour because I find it’s so good for the “crow feet” area. I also use it as lip balm. Perfect.

I’m 22 and starting to look for something for my under eye area. Do you recommend I use Weleda Skin Food beneath the eye as opposed to fancy creams targeted for that?

@@brooklynwaterfield5776 yeah it's thick and oily hard to spread though , the parfum is a bit strong. I bought it last month. I think for greasy one any butter would work or a cream like embryolisse. I would be careful and put just a bit to avoid milia.

I'm so glad you released this video, it is SO helpful!! I completely agree with eyeshadows...I was so scared to use it when I was younger because I had the cheapest brands and they were very difficult to apply--very chalky and hard to blend. I finally got myself Naked2 from Urban Decay and the difference was NIGHT and DAY! Sooo much easier to use and the colors are beautiful.

When I was younger I splurged on skincare. I would never do that again. Most “splurge” lines are over fragranced and therefore bad for skin. I look for effective ingredients and formulas now plus prescription products as needed (retin A for me). I splurge on makeup, clothes, shoes and handbags now. Again, though, I look for quality not price.

I've seen people with amazing skin and after talking to them realise often they use very simple, natural, minimal products, as in yogurt and honey masks, oil for cleansing, etc. I love buying products, but just can't justify the pricey ones.

Love this!! I have a Booda Organics bar soap that works perfectly for my hair, face, and body and gives me extra budget for good moisturizers and serums! Loving all of the skincare from Krave right now and still reasonably priced in my opinion. Completely agree on the lipsticks!!

Re: Mason Pearson brushes, yes, they're ridiculously expensive, BUT they last forever (I've had mine for 40 years!) and it feels SO good on the scalp, and really does a great job pulling the oils through the strands. This is such an amazing guide and I think you are spot on! Love your style and work! Thank you! One thing that is kinda small but a big deal to me is hair ties/scrunchies, I can’t use rubber bands or “regular” hair ties. My hair needs silky hair ties or the plastic ones that don’t leave lines in my hair and help against frizz and tangles!

I absolutely love that you did this vide!. It is always useful to get an opinion from a professional makeup artist, as you work with these products all the time. I have spent so much money on makeup products and I'm just a regular person who got over enthusiastic watching YT videos. I will never use all the makeup I have in a lifetime and I am starting to take the approach of quality over quantity is what I'm going to embrace going forward, while only buying the products I NEED and not just what I WANT. Bonjour Andrea. Merci pour la vidéo. I agree with all the recommendations you say in your video. I am a painter and was an art restorer in Florence Italy and I believe the brushes are THE investment to do and the products that will sit first on the skin should be made of good ingredients. The good brushes have the hairs well glued into the ferrule and the ferrule is well glued on the handle. I used the same rules for my makeup brushes I use for my makeup brushes. Thanks

Rather than investing in expensive Western skincare, invest in Korean mid-price range skincare. The formulations are better & they are often not heavily or not at all fragranced. My favourites are COSRX, IUNIK and Benton.

Excellent video! Very common sense. I have changed from trying too many products to finding my fav go to products and you know what? Now I don't mind spending money on those, because I will use them over & over again. As fun as the beauty channels are , they often encourage random spending - not targeted spending. If we are not a make up artist , we don't need 12 foundations. (I have 4 fav's) . It is an illusion to buy 8 drugstore foundations and think you are saving money . Buy one or 2 ones you love (in whatever price range). While some things look expensive, if you only buy one, instead of 8 to try, you end up with a great product that suits you & your lifestyle and your money spent is ultimately saved & within budget . Great video!

Loved this video and totally agree with you. I have an eyeshadow brush I bought in 1999 from Trish McEvoy. It was a big splurge at the time, but I'm still using it. Wash it once or twice a week and it's like new. Now I don't bother with the cheaper brushes at all. You can tell by the feel and how they work with your makeup. Thank you!

After watching this I went online and bought the Sara Happ Dream Slip. I am obsessed! It’s the best lip balm I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried a lot of them. I splurge on foundation and mascara because that's what I use every day. My eyelashes are super long but there's like a 5-minute pause between them :)) thank God for Lancôme. A yearly splurge would be the whipped blush from Shiseido, everyone thinks I have a lovely natural cheek colour 😅

Thank you for an informative video. I have 2 super expensive (for my budget) products in my skincare. They are both Sensai products. One is the Silk Peeling Powder, and the other is Total Lip Treatment. I used to use budget to mid-range exfoliants that ,I'm sorry to say, destroyed my skin. The Silk Peeling Powder gives me a nice exfoliation without destroying the skin barrier and leaving me with a dry, tight face. The lip treatment has saved my lips last winter, and this one! I use it as a night mask, and put it on in the morning as a base. During the day I might top up with an EOS stick.

Great video! I used to save on nail polish until I purchased Chanel nail polish. I definitely think it’s worth the splurge. Also agree with hair tools. I purchased the Dyson hairdryer 3 years ago and my hair has doubled in volume and actually grows because it’s not damaged.

Mostly agree with your ranking ! I don’t spend much on body and hair but I do about skincare, and I started spending on more quality makeup products this year thanks to some of your pieces of advice and I don’t regret it ! Totally agree with everything! Something that I do and helps a lot is to make a wishlist for the products that I really want/need and when I’ll find them on sale then I’ll buy them cause I can’t spend a lot every time. But having a list helps to stay on “budget”. Btw Andreea can you pleeeease do a video dedicated to your set up (camera, lighting,background etc)with tips from alex for a good photography/photoshoot and tips from you as a makeup artist at photo-shootings ? Yes! Caudalie body butter! That is my fave too. I love it for the same reasons; rich but not greasy. When I put it on at night, the next morning my skin feels so nice.

I absolutely agree with your choices. I love my Dyson Air wrap and Elasticizer from Philip Kingsley. These products have really transformed my hair. I also love Estée Lauder advanced night repair serum and my new favourite face treatment baby facial TLC from Drunk Elephant. Paula’s Choice also has some fantastic skin care products too.But this best affordable easily absorbed SPF (and I’ve tried loads) is definitely SOS SPF 50!

One week ago I finally received my Tom Ford Soleil Bronzer in Terra and I can't stop using it! I'm a huge fan of bronzers but this one...ohh, I've watched so many reviews about it and finally purchased it with my eyes closed. I do agree with everything you said, apart from shampoo. I spend not huge amount on my shampoo and conditioner, but way more than ones you can buy in supermarket, and I can see a big difference ;)

I do agree with most of the recommendations here. I use Cetaphil or CereVe to wash after using Burt's Bees oil cleanser. I use a prescription retinoid 5 days a week and my skin looks fantastic. I use sunscreen 365 days a year!! P.S. I love your make-up today and could you do a video on the proper use of brushes? Synthetic vs hair?

Loved this video Andreea and totally agree about the Weleda skin food and the lip balm both very dissatisfying on my skin and lips. My skin still felt dry underneath it and it’s so thick!!

The body moisturizer I love during the cold and dry winters is Jo Malone Vitamin E Body Balm. You don't need to use a lot, it just melts into the skin. It has a very light honey scent.

Thanks for the tips Andreea. You are sharing which products are good and your experience. I get the main tips are, good quality, what work for the person, and how often we use it. I now use shampoo of no harsh chemicals because my scalp is very sensitive, so they are not mainstream brands and thus more expensive. I use mid range priced tools, because I’d rather keep the styling simple. Xxx

I tend to be a practice spender as well and just as you stated, think about how much use you will get out of the product and/or clothing item. I will invest in classic clothing items that never go out of style just as I will invest in makeup products I use on a daily basis, with the exception of a few. I love, love, love the L’Oréal Unlimited Mascara 💄💋💅🏼

It’s so refreshing to hear an expert say you can use your moisturiser as a primer! I’ve been using moisturiser then primer then foundation, but maybe I don’t need to!? I have dry skin...

If you have dry skin you don't need a primer. Just a good moisturizer and then foundation

Totally agree with this. I do invest in my clothes...nice natural fabrics, timeless design, and long term investment. I love all my high end makeup...but especially foundation, eyeshadow, bronzer and lipsticks. For mascaras..Tom Ford and Chantecaille for me. And for blushes, Chanel are the best. In skincare, I have become strategic. There are fabulous Japanese and Korean products that are reasonably priced...and I looove Avene lip balms. I have repurchased them many times...used to be hard to get but not any longer. I no longer use luxury.

Great video! I enjoyed it a lot, you helped me as usual to understand what products are really to splurge for make up. As for me, I decided to save on my nails. I mean - I do it myself. It took time for me to study make it perfectly (especially the right hand, you know😁) but now I save and really glad about it). With your advices I will also save on products, because I tried so many products which don’t went for me, this means I waisted a lot of money for cheap products. But now I buy an expensive one, with good quality and I adore to use it, it gives a really pleasure using it. And you know- I save on buying lux products, it is true.

I need to have better hair shampoo and conditioner as a splurge. I have curly hair so it is dryer. And need luxurious and light conditioner to keep it moist. I think we are all different and need to splurge in different ares sometimes but overall this is great council. Love your videos ❤
