To be eligible for parole, the board usually wants the prisoner to admit guilt and show remorse. If he doesn’t. He most likely won’t get parole. So he’s in a tough situation. Will he admit he did it or will he stand his ground and stay in?

The cops and DA's are not perfect even though they think they are. My son was in jail in Albuquerque, NM for 10 months he was arrested for first degree murder. The investigator lied, coarsed, and intimidated supposably wittiness. These kids that were forced to say my son and his friend did a drive-by shooting they killed a teenager that was at a house party. Finally those teens that were the wittiness told the truth. They were facing other minor charges and/or was on probation so the investigator told them if they didn't say my son and his friend were the shooters she would put them in jail on the their non-related charges. They person that was the driver of the vehicle also came forward and told them what happened. My son and his friend were all over the news for months and his Facebook pictures were also on the news and in the newspaper. They had him on and 500,000 cash only bond he was only 22 years old and had never been in trouble with the law. This really messed him up mentally the judge and the victims mother called them so many awful name's throughout that time. I tried to hire an attorney but they wanted to charge $30,000 the represent him so I had to get him a public defender. That was the best decision that I made the public defender finally got the DA to sit down and let him show her that they had no evidence at all and on June 02, 2016 the charges were dropped and they were released. Unfortunately May 2016 his younger brother commited suicide he wasn't able to go to the funeral even though the judge allowed him to but the correction officers didn't take him to the funeral. So yeah the cops, investigators, DA's and judges put Innocent people in jail/prison. This needs to stop!!! This doesn't only hurt the person being charged/convicted of false charges it hurts the family too. The thing that really pisses me of is that the mother, judge or investigator never apologized for ruining my son and his friends life so now when my son gets pulled over for a traffic violation it shows that he was arrested for murder and he is treated like a criminal and has also been harassed by police officers and was called a lier the cops said that they know he did kill the teen and this was 4 months ago. This will hunt him for the rest of his life. I also wanna say thanks for sharing your story, and keeping it real.

The TEXAS justice system is blind..smh..my son got 40yrs just cus he fought his case and they used his juvenille record as well and me n my son believe he was basicly judged by the way he looks..i lost my 17yr old 13 yrs ago n my other son was still young n took his anger to the streets..but THE JUSTICE SYSTEM put him away at the age of 13yrs old..they could have asked him hey whats wrong kid...why u acting like this..they would have known he lost his only brother and his dad in a yrs time...SPM is innocent..my heart and prayers are with u carlos.
