Here's a list of the parts installed in this video: -4x4sPOD Source -ARB CKMTA12 -Metalcloak compressor mount -Air Zenith air pressure gauge -RockYour4x4 remote fitting kit
Sick. It is almost overwhelming the sheer number of things you can do to a jeep. Paychecks, fly forth into the night, descend upon jeep mods, never to return.
Why do you need all those other wires connected to the battery if you have a spod....I thought with the spod all you need is a hot and ground from the item your installing?
Physical Starfighter It all depends on the load you are using. An ARB twin has (2) 40A maxi fuses. In this application the sPOD is being used to trigger the relay block of the compressor since it is built in to the compressor.
What I don’t understand is why things are still be hooked to the battery and there’s the pod. I thought the whole point of the pod was so you can hook things up the pod instead of the battery because the pod is hooked to the battery?
James Scott The pod only supports circuits up to 40 A. The twin compressor is an 80 amp circuit. We are using the pod just to trigger the relays. Everything else that you would normally hook to the pod would still work simply.
This was the best tutorial video I have ever seen. I’ve been watching tutorial videos for a long time now. These guys are true professionals and great people to ask questions. They are patient and helpful. They also trail ride hard and great folks to ride with.
This is awesome. I purchased the Air Zenith kit and need to get the remote fitting kit. Does it come with the adapter and t-fittings used to connect the Air-Zenith Pressure sensor shown at 10:41? Looking at the sensor it seems like its a different type of thread.
Was this a personal install or for a customer? I ask because there’s another popular video of this compressor failing on multiple levels. This video is a little old so how did it turn out for you? Any problems?
James Scott This was on a customer’s vehicle. The same vehicle is still running strong with no compressor issues. However, on my personal vehicle I have the same compressor and I have replaced one motor twice on it over the course of the last eight years.
just installed the MetalCloak bracket and i wish the bolt that holds the support arm was welded to the main plate because that would make it so much easier to tighten. i do love the bracket.
Great video, thank you very much!! Would you be kind and explain how did you integrated the spod with the air gauge I just got this setup and trying to figure it out. Thanks in advanced
Yair Haim The power to the gauge was connected to the small push button illumination circuit, ground was paralleled to the ground circuit up there, and the sensor wire was added and run up to the sending unit under the hood.
One more question :) In minute 10:39 you have a Tee fitting for the air gauge, can you please help with a link to buy it or the exact name? I have been searching and having trouble finding it, thank you very much! P.S: Happy 4th soon...
question...if i am planning on ARB air lockers will the dual compressor work for that as well or will i have to run the seperate compressor for the air locker also. Plan to call on monday to order the mountin bracket. Thanks!
do you have links for the products, I like that fitting kit but can find it. also tell Web site says it will work the the relocation kit but how about without relocation
Tony Barefoot The remote fitting kit is a kit we put together. You can purchase it directly from us for under $40. You can contact us through our website or call us directly. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding this installation.
I like the set up you have with the Air Zenith gauge coming on with the sPOD. I seem to be a little dense when it comes to understanding how you connected the gauge to the sPOD switch bank. From the video it looks like you connected the yellow wire to the center post of the first switch and the red wire to the top post of the first switch. Am I close? Thx and great video.
I tried to call looks like I missed you guys! I have bought the sPod with the stock air gauge in it and have been racking my brain for months as to where I can put a tank to make sure the pressure gauge works and I see this!! No tank needed and i can swap in the digital gauge?? Extremely interested in this looking forward to hearing from you.
It appears in the video that you are hooking up the ARB compressor to the battery directly (4:07 in video). If this is the case, why wasn't it connected to the SPOD for power? Thought that once the SPOD was in, all accessories would run through it. Thanks.
mikeguitarification Since this is a twin compressor it has 2 circuits (one for each motor) that have 40A fuses. If you were to use the sPOD as the control for the main power instead of the trigger circuit for the compressor assembly then you would have to have two switches used up for the compressor and have to engage them at the same time. In this case the sPOD is controlling the purple wire which triggers both of the internal relays built into the compressor housing. Otherwise, you would have to disassemble the compressor housing and rewire the compressor completely to control it by the sPOD. Thank you for the question and let me know if this answer does not make sense.
Whats included in the Rockyour 4 x 4 remote fitting kit ? I have an Spod with gauge currently installed and have the ARB along with the MC bracket but havent installed yet ... Does the remote fitting just allow you to use the compressor without having to open the hood ? Whats the purpose of the Sending unit? I just want the ability to use the compressor without opening the hood like you have it in the video - not sure if I need the Zenith option..
Have you had any experience in installing this spod & arb combination with the various big brake kits that use a larger brake booster reservoir and space or fitment issues? How did you resolve them if so?
I asked Ben at Rubitrux unlimited he’s the owner and he told me with the molar bbk with the xl brake booster the arb air compressor will not fit they recommended to mount it under the seat with teraflex’s mount if you have the bbk.
Have a question to the mounting. The plate where the compressor is mounted on, is this includes when you order the compressor or is this handmade by yourself?
Hey had a question on how this is working out hooked up to the Spod. Spod says that the Twin ARB draws to many amps for the spod? Is this true or have you made any mods to counter this?
Sauce1977 You will connect the twin compressor to the battery like the wiring diagram from ARB states. You will use the purple wire on the ARB harness to run to the sPOD underhood unit.
Cedric Johnson sorry, I don’t have a link to the kit. Usually people just call us to make the transaction. The kit includes( 2)90° fittings, (2) 3/8” push lock fittings, one bulkhead pass-through fitting, and 6 feet of 3/8” hose. Cost is $35 plus shipping
Awesome video. A few questions: 1. sPOD recommends a 5AMP fuse to be used. Why did you keep the 15AMP fuses in? 2. Did you combine both negative wires to one connection ring terminal? 3. Did you connect each red wire to its own connector ring terminal and put them on the battery terminal? Thanks in advance!
Design Thinking Nomad Thank you 1. The purple trigger wire only draws about 100-200 mA and would only need a 2-3 A fuse. The lead is around 12" from the sPOD to the compressor and the chance of a short is 0% with the length, routing, and conduit added. You are correct in noting each circuit should have a fuse for the load it is controlling. We just moved the smallest fuse provided to #1. 2. Both the 8ga and 18ga ground wires were connected together with one ring terminal. 3. The 2 10ga wires were connected separately only because we did not have a ring terminal available at the time of the install to combine them.
