the sharpei are one of the oldest breed of dogs, so they are like that since hundres on thousands of years

It's common for Shar pei puppies to be noisy like that, they usually grow out of it as they become adults and their snouts lengthen. Speaking from experience lol

My mom has a Shar Pei mix and while she doesn't have the wrinkly body, she has the cute hippo face that all Shar Peis have. She had to have this same surgery to help her see.

@BondiVet She sure is. She's a Shar Pei/Terrier mix (nit sure which Terrier. I think Staffie) and she'll be 5 in November. I believe she had her surgery when she was about 2, but it helped her out immensely.

My parents had Shar-pei before I was born. Both of them had to have entropion surgery and one of them eventually went blind when she got older. I have heard many stories about what characters they were and this pup is living up to that.

Main thing is, that Mr Wilson can see much better now. He can see everything in front of him. Mr Wilson thanked Dr Chris. They did an awesome job on him. Sure anything needs tended to Mr Wilson health, his parents will make sure it is seen too. 😊

My Shar Pei had an eye lift too. It's not uncommon. And he snores like this guy breathes.

The original type sharpei are so much healthier and better, still cute, and don't need these kinds of surgeries. I really wish they were more popular outside of Asia instead of these horribly malformed poor babies.

Shame there's no real regulation on purebreeding. He's suffering through no fault of his own but because breeders of this are obsessed with folds. His breathing wasn't much better.

i do understand that but they were originally bred as livestock guardians, so the loose skin was needed to protect vital arteries and organs but i do agree they dont need this much skin anymore

I was just about to comment this, you can tell the breeder has very little idea what they're doing (how do you breed a dog so bad it's eyelids turn inside out and snores 24/7??). One thing i took note of is how the owner mentioned that the dog will growl at people.. so the breeder probably didn't socialise the puppies enough either.... As someone who wants to go into animal breeding and husbandry this whole situation is making me cringe

The breathing difficulty is prominent in all dogs with short snouts unfortunately, boxers, pekinese, bull dogs, Boston terriers any dog with a mushed nose will experience this sad experience!!!! I don't understand why breeders would subject these beautiful animals to this torture......

These dogs can have an operation that cuts off some flesh inside their throat to enlarge the air flow tube . Sorry for my lack of vocabulary , English is my 2nd language .
