But guys, I loved the final final word of John the Baptizer: his head is on the block, he turns his face toward the window and beholds a lamb (!), the light is reflected on his face, and he says, "Thank You" to the Lord. A beautiful exit from this world to the next!

Yeah and I kept wondering who Shimon was at the Sanhedrin who was angry at their decision regarding Jesus and watching previous seasons I found out it was Shimon, son of Hallel. I initially thought it was Simon, the pharisee who had leprosy whom Jesus healed, who gave a dinner in honor of Jesus where Mary anoints Jesus' feet.

I wonder if Shmuel is going to be the one who pays Judas the 30 pieces of silver to help him bring in Jesus to the Sanhedrin because Shmuel now wants to help Jesus exonerate himself-only to realize too late that the Caiaphas and Sanhedrin have no intention of letting him go.

As you talk about forgiveness the scene that impacted me deeply was Matthew talking to Jesus about how Peter has treated him, completely oblivious to his role in Peter's behavior. How Jesus with just a few questions gets Matthew to understand how he impacted Peter's life and livelihood and why in fact, he should apologize to Peter. I felt the sting...things I held against others while ignoring my actions that may have created the problem.

The Thomas/Ramah bit tied into the opening scene with David/Bathsheba and the loss of their son. That you can pray to God for healing, and sometimes He doesn't heal, and we don't know why. I'm just envisioning a tension from Thomas when Jesus raises Lazarus in a few episodes.
@abbykittle5058
@abbykittle5058 4 месяца назад
I'm thinking the same thing. He's going to be wondering why in the world is Lazarus going to be raised, but not Ramah? It will be incredibly interesting to see how they portray Thomas' arc moving forward.
@judyridgeway-mills3076
@judyridgeway-mills3076 4 месяца назад
I think that this is where the "doubting" starts manifesting. Ramah isn't healed. Lazarus will be healed. Then, the Messiah doesn't even try to save Himself? I think Thomas will definitely question the Messiah's TRUTH and ABILITY. A test of faith, for sure.

In my emotional response I forgot about the scenes with David and Bathsheba. 🙏🏻 Was so caught up in why Jesus said it wasn't her time when God knows our time. His knowing was the one thing that gave me comfort and peace in the grieving process when my dad died. I was so confused and I let my grief plow through. Now I see it as perhaps she was not going to be resurrected until later (Revelation). My husband saw other theories like Jesus wasn't going to perform another miracle of that caliber in front of a crowd including Quintus and other Romans.

I prayed for healing for over 9 years! Prior to that I asked God to use me. The night of my first knee replacement, God gave me the opportunity to pray the salvation prayer with a 90yr old lady in my room and another lady who was terrified of the dark. If you pray to be used, do it sincerely and wait for God to use you His way. I love the scene of Little James when Jesus explains why he wasn’t healed yet. Spoke volumes to me! Helped me understand that God’s ways are not my ways. Season 4 is off to a great start.

Always love your reactions, even when you don't love everything! To be clear...our healing of the blind man was, as we often do, a combination of more than one blind man healing, and we de-emphasized the specific location in favor of the larger meaning and power of the healing and how it can naturally connect to what else happens.

Hey Dallas! Always nice to see creators interacting with fans! Question for you if you don't mind my asking. Why did Thomas run TOWARDS Quintus when he's the source of the danger? Was he just turned around in the crowd and was panicking as he tried to get Ramah to safety? Thomas walks right in front of him, which confused my whole group! Maybe we missed something? Edit: sorry if that came off the wrong way, I think I was still reeling from everything. The episodes were excellent, just still a little brainbroken from the ending. I think I understand better now, brother. Thanks for doing such a good job. BTW, what does Thomas' necklace say?

The controversial death of Ramah will signify who Thomas is, leading to one of his only recorded sayings, specifically from John 11:16, "So Thomas, called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with Him.”" This occurs before the resurrection of Lazarus, hence, this event explains why Thomas said that statement to the rest of the group later on that we will probably see in Episode 6/7 of Season Four. It will also illustrate why Thomas is a "doubting Thomas".

yes I thinking about this passage and then of course can't ignore when he sees Jesus after the resurrection and declares "my Lord and my God". This is the beauty of scripture, there is so little written about individual characters which is, I think, for us to meditate upon and put ourselves in their place, or in the situation and think about how we would react or what it was like for the characters involved.

I watched the three episodes last night. I have never gone to a movie where it shocked me so big and so hard, that I literally couldn't move until after all of the end credits had played through! I heard everyone else around me getting up and going out of the theater, but I had to just sit there! This is so strange, but even today, (the next day) I have had moments where I found myself just sitting and being just kind of aimless, as if someone that I loved had really passed away. There in the theater, the first thing I was able to say was: But He was right there!! Like He was physically right there and I said to my mom, that I am afraid I would have ended up being so angry at Him and possibly even hating Him. She said, that's the thing, He's always... Right There. I said, but no, like He was standing right there at which time my dad spoke up and said, He's always Standing Right There. I'm sitting here right now, writing this and tears are now pouring down my face and it feels like The Holy Spirit has put a little tornado in my chest. He is here. He's right HERE with me. Right here and right now. He is here. He Loves us and He wants us to know that The Father Loves us. Blessed Be The Name of The Lord. Job 1:21

I applaud the Chosen's decision to highlight a spectacular athleticism of Salome's dance. Brienne from "Let's be honest" recognized the dancer as someone who is actually a famous dancer. This may be a historical source for the Chosen: The illuminations in "Holkham's Bible Picture Book": "She is depicted balancing on her hands, arching her back, and throwing her feet backwards into mid-air as if to perform a somersault. Such acrobatic entertainment would have been familiar to a medieval audience from the performances of jugglers, acrobats, and dancers at real-life festivities." This description looks a lot like what we saw in episode 1
@tinabernstein4470
@tinabernstein4470 4 месяца назад
What blew me away about the ending was the way Jesus respectfully said "It wasn't her time". I saw merciful healing for those who have dealt with the sudden loss of loved ones to accidents or murders, and then hear that those who have been healed or survive are called blessed. Of course those events are worth celebrating, but we prayed and believed for their protection. It can be confusing, painful, and isolating. Surprised about the Thomas/Ramah comments... for one it gives a bit of insight to 1st century "dating" that our youth could use lol but the writers were spot on creating this story line that ultimately will speak volumes about what it means to follow Jesus through very difficult times. Well done!!

Like I told a friend, I begged God to heal my son, but in His wisdom, sovereignty, and perfect love, He essentially said no. It is a life struggle that we wrestled with about why God Heals some and others He takes home. Yes, it is extra biblical. But it is relatable. I wish they would have tied it to the same vane as the blind man's healing. His ways are higher than ours! His thoughts are unfathomable. But...God is good, and everything He does is good.

I also thought the scene with Ramah at the end, when Jesus said He loved Thomas and [God] loved him, but it wasn't her time and he was so sorry. Another interesting plot line is how Shmuel (spelling?) appears to be truly regretting his past actions. I'm anxious to see how that plays out. Love watching you two, and the great insight you bring to the scriptures. Yes, this is a "TV show", and they take some liberties to tell the story and flesh out the characters that we know so little about. To me that makes it enjoyable. I am mad at the show,, the ending for episode three needs to be rewritten,, this character could have been written off in a more beautiful way as only The Chosen knows how,, they are great at bringing beauty to this story of the life of Jesus like no other show or movie out there. To me all of the death and sadness in the Bible have a redemptive end,, the ending of this character and in the way it was done was Not like The Chosen,, it looked forced, for shock and not thought through,, we all know that Thomas has a doubting tendency,, probably that is what The Chosen it’s trying to drive into our minds,, but the Bible doesn’t need our help on any of that. In my opinion they could have wrote the character off in a more beautiful way. I also think The Chosen needed to spend a little more time at Caesarea Philippi and truly show to this generation how dark and horrible was the culture surrounding Jesus and his followers

What I love about your commentary… I can’t watch these episodes yet because of my location, and suddenly the internet explodes with a ‘controversy’ that we can’t watch or judge. I have disagreed with some marketing choices that have been made with @The Chosen however because you guys are so grounded in the bible it helps to watch your ‘spoilers’ because you are a discerning source and that means that I can watch future episodes with a ‘grounded’ perspective 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I thought the entire 3 episodes were mesmerizing. Jesus did not heal everybody. He did not keep his own earthly dad, Joseph from dying. He did not break John out of prison, He did only what His Father was doing, He did only what pleased His Father. There were lots of demon possessed, sick and dying people everywhere Jesus went. The healings recorded were to show that Jesus is the Messiah. “If everything he did was recorded the whole world could not contain the books.” In light of this, I believe the writers could imagine romances happening, the brutality of the Romans was far worse than depicted, the controversy and chaos surrounding Jesus was intense. Thanks for the reaction videos. Grace and Peace

30:54 I think the Thomas Ramah thing is defintely setting us up for future seasons somehow. Dallas has intent in everything he does. I sort of thought all along that Ramah would not be here through the whole series. I just did not know how they would remove her. That removal was definitely shocking. 😮

I went tonight. No one in the theater moved or spoke until the credits were almost over. This season so far is mind blowing. My favorite part was Simon becoming Peter and his scene with Matthew. And, his biceps. 😂😂😂. The show levels up every season. Three episodes in and I’m an emotional mess. And I agree… Thomas and Ramah have never been my favorite story line and this latest twist is not my favorite either. Surprising, shocking, but ehhhh.

Boy, I hated the last scene and left the theater unsettled. But at this point I can appreciate some things about it. Jesus had talked earlier about how He came to bring not peace but a sword (which I'm glad was shown). I think there is metaphor to be found in Ramah's death by a sword (surely not a coincidence!). I also think that the scene reflects life, in that tragedies occur every day which God could prevent, halt, or restore, but He doesn't. (I know you guys know this better than anyone.) At some point in our lives we all have to face the question, "Why did it have to be this way?" and choose to follow Him anyway. I feel as though The Chosen is purposely confronting us with that question; it was even in the trailers. I really, really wish that they had written a different story but I have to admire how this awful scene reflects how we must choose to respond to tragedy when God doesn't do what we want. I am left wrestling with many thoughts!

Thomas & Ramah was heart wrenching…mainly because Jesus is standing there knowing what has to happen and He’s enduring the tragedy with His disciples just like He does with us today when tragedies happen in our own lives. That love that comes across the screen is a wonderful picture of the love of God towards us. Yes, Thomas maybe doubting going forward but I’m calling it here first…Ramah is resurrected after Jesus is resurrected as a fantastic character arch! Matthew 27! Here we go!

Ramah is a fictional character. We are expecting a retelling of historic Biblical events, not fanfiction. Honestly, if I wanted to watch a Hollywood rewrite ( fantastic license in fictional characters)I most definitely would not sit in a theater for over three hours having my emotions played with over an emotional, unnecessary death.

@@warrgailnone of the saints raised at Jesus's death are named, so if they want to include that part of the Easter story, they have to use fictional characters to accomplish that. Much like Gaius is a "fictional character" but oh actually he is an unnamed historical character in the Bible and we didn't find that out until much later. If saints were raised at Jesus's death, that means that believers would have had to die before his death to be on stand by ready to go. I can't wait!

We only got episodes 1-2 in Aus, but I was struck at how deeply S3 E8 with Simon & Eden paralleled S4 E2 to the point before anything happened I was CRYING. It’s like Simon/Peter’s hyperfocused reconciliation arc. Like everything else is quiet & only one thing matters. Also lowkey loved how he broke the stick while walking away from Jesus after their campfire chat 😅 Genuinely made me wonder if they’ve written him as an INFJ, which would make sense if people saw him as a leader even if he didn’t see himself as one. And then working to become that and let Holy Spirit speak through your weaknesses… so beautiful!

I was hoping to hear what you thought of the arc and internal conflict we are seeing with Shmuel, and your thoughts on the comments made by the high priest at that meeting of Sanhedrin. It gave plausibility to what has always seemed odd, and even unlikely, for the Jewish leadership to handoff the Jesus “problem” to Rome rather than dealing with a Jewish “radical” within the faith.

My favorite on John the Baptist is when he walks up to Jesus in the field and breaks his chains and then turns his arm/hand showing Jesus the way he prepared. With Ramah, I feel like your insight about Thomas is possible but also I see it as another example that those that follow Christ still face hardships and death. We are not exempt from pain, suffering, or death.

Let’s not forget when Lazarus died, Thomas makes a pretty snarky comment in John 11:16 Then Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]) said to the rest of the disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.” That scene could have a pretty dramatic punch too after this
