While I was watching, I realized that with some slight modifications, this build can also be Cid/Shadow from Eminence in Shadow lol Ps: Adam from Record of Ragnarok would be dope if u made a build for him
Human Drunken Master Monk, with the best wraps your DM will allow (to represent Adam's knuckleduster/s). You'd probably need a ton of AC via Bracers and such
I'm an amateur dm and player, mostly player. My wife, a drama teacher, has had me run several dnd games to help the kids learn improve. This year I'm gonna let the kids pick their setting and one option will feature this build and a couple other of your anime ones as the final bosses. I love your channel
I love hearing stuff like that, especially exposing a younger generation to the awesome gameplay and storytelling experience of role-playing games like these. I'm so happy I can contribute to that in any way.
Welp guess ill be the first to comment. Thx for the builds and thx for making Sung Jin Woo. Love the show and manhwa, reader of the manhwa since there were still 20 chapters
Well thanks so much for being my first comment, I binge read the entire thing, so I'm happy I didn't have to wait for chapter by chapter LOL. I tried that to go too spoilery with some of the particular summons he gets Midway through the series, Aunt I'm wondering if you'd be able to guess the ability that I was referring to with the undead warlock considering it's something that shows up in literally the last few chapters of the webcomic
@dndbuilds I do actually. I'm not gonna spoil if someone reads this but it's the ability he gets at the end fighting the dragon. I have been thinking for a like a week how to do it and surprisingly I went similar
@@dndbuilds The build i was thininking of was 14 lvl shadow sorcerer, and then either undead or hexblade warlock with max charisma and dex somehow. Leave con to mid stats since he's a glass cannon and go for mostly summoning and buff spell's like haste
@@samwilson7292 I'm always a fan of rpg styled anime, especially when the rpg itself plays a massive role. Like Log Horizon, for instance, as opposed to SAO. LH lays out the mechanics of the game pretty well while SAO is admittingly a mess.
@@MagusAgrippa8 Solo leveling is what your looking for then heads up tho It isnt as much of an rpg as log horizon because it mixes rpg elements with concepts of reality but the rpg elements are still a big part of the anime
Fun fact, I wanted to make this build about 6 months ago before there were any solo leveling builds and this is almost identical to what I ended up making. He's currently at level 12 at level 6 in both warlock he'd blade and shadow sorcerer and I can tell you, this build really is incredibly strong.
I was thinking maybe 17 levels in Oathbreaker and 3 levels in Assassin Rogue. I could just dual wield scimitars, so you can technically still get Sneak Attack. But I suppose, 17 levels in Hexblade with 3 levels in Assassin Rogue makes more sense
I went Hexblade Paladin since if I'm going to put a good number of points into CHA I might as well get the auras to make myself good at all saving throws, have the ability to purge poisons and heal without burning spell slots, and can do a Vital Strike via Smiting. Oathbreaker also boosts Undead and Fiends within your area, though I personally went with Oath of Glory for Haste since that replicates his movement ability by making him faster, hit more times, and raises his AC.
@@dndbuilds Yeah, that's always the problem with anime builds when the protagonist had a wide breadth of abilities. You can't reasonably get everything with 20 Levels. I also took Telekinetic for the +1 to CHA and to replicate his dominator touch since Invisibility is a Warlock Spell.
Got D&D tonight. I'm going to need those 20's. I'm playing a Fire Genasi, Efreet Genie Patron, Pact of the Tome Warlock. Basically using my genie parent as my patron.
Yo this is different than what other people tried to make him W can’t wait to try this build, funny thing is in my current campaign I’m a hexblade warlock and wild magic sorcerer
That's true, there's way more trade-offs than I initially thought with that spell, I got so excited about it when I initially misread the spell's description
It seems to be a popular one at least based off the first day, so I'm happy you got in there too, and a triple thanks for being a patron in general it really helps
Since i dont know the source, Not much to say other than i love the build, i may not always comment but i always watch, spoilers arent a big factor for me when its a build that interests me. I am hoping you could try to fit a build of Fate/Stay Night's Archer into this series, always love seeing other interpretations on that guy
I only watched the anime, and until his "job change", I was more focused on Fiend bladelock, maxing his blade damage and taking spirit shroud and shadow of moil. But now that he has, your build is probably better. My multiclass was swashbuckler rogue, for the sneak attack damage, layered with all the warlock stuff. I also took shadow touched for the same reason. (Although his "stealth" skill is more like greater invisibility) all in all, good build. And thank you for avoiding echo knight and gloom stalker. I hate those subclasses!
I also upgraded to shortsword as his "dagger" is as long as his forearm. I wish WOTC would clarify what longsword, greatsword, shortsword, scimitar are instead of drawings that don't really explain what these blades are.
I've read the manhwa and I did a build for a short campaign starting at level 12 last year. I Rolled well getting 18 and double 16 these were my highest and I think I went for a Dex paladin oathbreaker with 2 short swords I had a blast with it and proceeded to level up twice which allowed me to cast Find Greater steed (Mine was a pegasus Re-flavored as a shadow dragon), I also bribed The Gm with lots of snacks to allow Control undead to be used on multiple targets he agreed as longs as their collective CR didn't not exceed my level. He also allowed me to reflavor my undead as shadows and gave my character a cloak that could store undead and summoning materials (Bones, blood, souls, etc). For a race I asked if I could use the mark of shadows elf and slap that mark on human so it's mark of shadows human and he agreed.
Tbh when I clicked on the video I just expected some Wizard (Necromancer) and Rogue multiclass or something like that, but damn this build is crazy. One of your best builds so far in my opinion.
I tried making a build like this I want to say, 4 years ago. But it was also my first time doing D&D having moved from pathfinder and I had no idea what my plan was for it. Now lets see what you have.
Building this for an Upcoming Campaign. DM is willing to give a free lvl 1 feat so I will alter this to a different race. Meaning I will get Tough from Wild Spacer Background and Shadow Touched at Lvl 1. Also thinking of taking Inspiring Leader or Mordtly Armoured as a replacement feat for Shadow Touched at Lvl 4. Both would fit this build really well. Inspiring Leader gives Temp HP to all allies(including summons) equal to level+ Charisma mod once per day for the price of a 10min speech/break Medium Armor Master will increase Medium armour effectiveness by adding a +3, rather than +2, to your AC based on Dex mod and it negates any stealth disadvantage while wearing Medium armour. So you could be running around in Spike plate without drawbacks and this stacks with magic gear too. E.g +2 Breast Plate + Medium Armor master = +5 total AC boost
Awesome to see you tackle these OP characters like Jin (or Ainz Ool Gawn and Rimuru) xD a bit more grounded, but I'm playing FF7 right now, and considering you have build Cloud and Sephiroth, how about Aerith or Vincent. I feel either would be pretty interesting to build and both are fan favorites xD
If you go Divine Soul sorc instead of shadow you get access to animate dead (which can be reflavored as shadows) and not have it restricted to once per day, that way you can drop those other undead themed spells (not Shadowspawn, def keep that one) and grab some other on-brand spells for Jin-Woo instead. Like having his AOE murderous intent reflected as the slow, fear, hypnotic pattern, or even synaptic static spells. 🤷🏽♂️
you dont have to use a dagger since most of the daggers he uses are actually the size of a shortsword so that can help with damage and still fit the theme
Picking warforged wouls make u able to be virtually immortal and gives him resistance to posion and allows himntonmake armor apart of him to make it invisible while granting him extra durable, qlso bloodlust would work good through somthign like a oathbreaker channel divinity and there aura gives a buff to their minions just like sung jin woo does
I think this bill would be very interesting if we swapped the sorcerer levels for swords Bard levels and swapped metamagic Adept for magic initiate sorcerer
14:59; obviously you've never used Silvery Barbs. It is not an overpowered spell. Shield and other defensive reaction spells are far stronger. For example, you're a lvl 10 wizard and you're fighting a creature with a three hit multi-attack and a legendary action that allows it to attack after every turn. You can cast Silvery Barbs to avoid one hit or cast shield to potentially avoid all of them.
I always felt like advantage and disadvantage as a reaction with a first level slot is pretty powerful when you consider it can be used against anyone. Shield only benefits you, silvery barbs can save anyone in the party while also giving someone advantage
Makes me a little sad people seem to forget the novel exists. The novel is great and gives a lot of insight into other characters' thoughts and what not.
@dndbuilds I'm not a RU-vid guy, so I don't make my own videos, but if you ever want to dabble in 3.5 builds for a video, I'd be down to help! I have almost every available source book and dragon magazine in pdf form and over a decade of experience with complex character building and DMing.
I think I actually included that as an idea on the character sheet, I was considering throwing in bigby's hand for the same purpose but that seems a little too over the top
interesting build and it does match the theme dead on, like always, however, with tthat dagger damage, and haste, and all that, why not take a few rogue levels, i know it would majorly slow down some spell progression, but those sneak attacks would be nasty, when you laid the stats out like you did i was almost certain you were gonna do a warlock/rogue multiclass
I actually did build him a while back but I got slammed with copyright stuff, so I had to delete it. It is still up on Patreon but I can't really risk posting it here again.
Once you get finger of death, it's unlimited zombies since they're permanent. But you could also do some coffee lock shinnanegans for more, plus you hexblade and shadow hound things
I actually made him a while back, and the video is still up on my patreon, but I had to remove it from RU-vid because it got some serious copyright issues. The owner of that property does not really like it being used for anything else it seems
I actually just started reading this about 2 weeks ago, and I'm super into it. The main issue with going that route though on my channel is that there's not really a lot to use for video elements as the point of reference. So I would solely be banking on people knowing the book
Yeah that's why I called it out in the video, if you got more stats in DnD I would have totally adjusted, but I had to stick with a main stat on this one for a bit of optimization.
wouldn't reborn been better for race? Knowledge from past life could be reflavored for strategic thinking Sung is kinda known for. For deathless nature: advantage for poison saving throws is purfect for his poison immunity advantage on saving throws against death could be his will to live and being resilient as fuck and as for not needing to sleep, eat, drink or breathe if i recall corectly he doesn't need to do any of those things (except breathing but it could be reflavored as having realy strong lungs wich he have) sorry for bad english (not my first language)
Does he actually summon Darkness? If the only reason you're making him a shadow sorcerer is because of the fact that he is called the shadow Monarch even though he doesn't summon darkness it's lazy for the same reason to make jjk characters sorcerers for the simple fact that they're called sorcerers.
It’s called flavor. He’s going for feel rather than taking classes at face value. DnD allows you to have a warlock that can function as the party’s rouge. As for charisma being the main stat, think intimidation. That works perfectly. I also read the webtoon so I’m doing my best to avoid spoilers
@@johannesstephanusroos4969 I was thinking some kind of Ranger, with his Rambo like skills, both in fighting, stealth and using the environment to his advantage.
