Life is dandy in Bikini Bottom for SpongeBob Squarepants (Tom Kenny) and his friends Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke), Squidward (Rodger Bumpass), Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown) and Sandy (Carolyn Lawrence). However, when the top-secret recipe for Krabby Patties is stolen, SpongeBob finds that he must join forces with perpetual adversary Plankton (Mr. Lawrence) and come ashore to battle a fiendish pirate named Burger Beard (Antonio Banderas), who has his own plans for the delicious delicacies.

This is a very underrated SpongeBob movie. I love how they made Antonio Banderas a pirate and the antagonist, how they make Plankton learn what teamwork is, and how they made all of the SpongeBob characters into superheroes. Even though there is no point in making the characters superheroes, but then again Age of Ultron came out the same year, so it makes sense. I really like this movie, and it deserves more appreciation.

The movie was the first major 2D animated movie since Winnie the Pooh from 2011. Bubbles the Dolphin was made entirely by stop motion. And with the live action and 3D animation in, the movie didn't miss anything.

Fun thing about the rap battle at the end, they actually got Epic Rap Battles of History to write that. The two heads of the channel, NicePeter and EpicLloyd actually cameo in a crowd shot at one point as well

This was really good. It was interesting seeing Plankton and SpongeBob working together, and hilarious how quickly society collapsed without the krabby patty. The superhero sequence was also fun.

This movie was fun. It has the writers from the older episodes so it had that vibe to it. And i liked the superhero stuff. Also this is set before the first SpongeBob movie, which is intended to be a series finale.

This is a great effort film. Many people didn’t seem like this movie when it came out, because how over the top it is. But I think the reason the people of the bikini bottom overreacted to the Krabby patty formula being stolen is because the pirate wrote for the bikini bottom to become apocalyptic and against SpongeBob after writing to get the the secret formula. I have to give the writers credit, it’s a very interesting idea, however, it should had scenes being clear about this. There’s actually a scene that was cut where the pirate guy was telling his story about wanted to be a great cook in a visual flashback. In my opinion, that scene should have stayed. It’s truly a great scene and it made it clear why he wanted the Krabby patty recipe. I hope someday that scene will be added to the final film on streaming.

If the Spongebob series ended with the first film, and that was it, I would still find this film to be a welcome addition to the overall Spongebob franchise. It was hailed as Stephen Hillenburg retuned to be an executive producer to this film which I find to be very touching after he departed from the series ever since Nickelodeon decided to keep it running after the first film.

This sequel was a fun little adventure. The time travel sequences were very trippy but cool, the Mad Max satire with the whole apocalypse over no more Krabby Patties, and I actually liked seeing SpongeBob and Plankton working together. But the marketing was definitely misleading though since it's mostly animation and less live action. Cant wait for you to react to the show soon, Tim!

This is by far my favorite Spongebob movie. I was 10 turning 11 when this movie came out remember liking how funny it was and to be honest, thought it was better than the first one tbh.

I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised with the SpongeBob content you haven’t seen. This movie is a prime example of that. I’m sure you looked at reviews going into it as does everyone. It had an incredibly fresh rating from the critics and audience on rotten tomatoes upon release, but in recent years the audience score pretty much got review bombed by people who despise everything SpongeBob post 2004. Because of this, Sponge Out of Water, and by proxy a majority of episodes past season 3 are wrongfully discredited. Not everything is a winner. But it will not feel as alienating as you think. Regardless, I’m really happy you enjoyed this film. I can still remember going opening night (which was almost 10 years ago at this point- man does time fly!)

So this was the last film that Mr hillenburg worked on before he passed away 2018 And so his son Clay wrote and directed sponge on the run in 2020 and since SpongeBob was created by mr. Hillenburg in 1999 and he passed away in 2018 every season of SpongeBob that will continue to run will bear his name

I love this movie it feels good to watch it again it's been a while. I still have this one on DVD and I even got a box of SpongeBob Kraft macaroni and cheese as part of the prom they did at Fred Myers when you picked up the DVD or Blu Ray of the movie good times i enjoyed that macaroni while watching this movie.
