I much prefer the lower camera angle in the original for Robo Sandy, she's framed as a big ominous enemy looming over you, whereas in the remake the camera is top-down and kinda ruins that. Background doesn't look as good as well. They also just messed up the colour in a lot of areas, like the Dutchman boss stage. And then the worst travesty of them all, removing the fish newscaster. They seem like nitpicks but there's loads of small things like those that just kinda bug me.
The weirdest thing is I think Robo-Sandy in the remake is actually bigger and I much prefer her redesign. But her quicker, almost jerkier animations compared to the slower, more imposing animations in the original remove the atmosphere from the fight. Robo Patrick tho I think is far more noticeable with this though. In the original, yes he was a bit goofy, but due to a mix of the lighting and constantly lidded eyes, he looked twisted and almost disgusting. Like a complete corruption of Patrick with none of the comedy. Remake Robo-Patrick’s design, while more obviously robotic and more detailed, loses his personality entirely. Thankfully Spongebot Steelpants picks up both of their slack visually and atmospherically.
Damn, did anyone else have the habit of leaving the nose till last and hitting it with the bubble wand when it got close with KAH RAE TAE? I used to do that everytime lol
Yes, because it’s a joke. Bro told where the drops are going to land makes that battle legitimately nothing. Also! SpongeBobs bowling ball can roll on the goo!? As if!
I didn't buy rehydrated because I didn't think it was worth it, it would have been better if it felt much closer to the original gameplay wise and made further improvements to show that they cared, but they didn't, in my opinion.
I miss the attention to detail with the inside of Spongebot's head where you can see his eyes moving and moving his body so you can see the Chum Bucket Lab outside of him. In Rehydrated, his eyes or body don't move at all and there's no detailed look of the Chum Bucket Lab.
They just didn’t care enough in the remake to pay attention to those details…. And it makes me so sad. These are the things we original fans wanted to stay.
@@katiesherman6517 I agree, some sound effects were missing, some animations were stiff, and the multiplayer mode was too long per session and didn't feel very fine tuned.
There is a lot that they didn’t do that they should have when it came to animation. I honestly don’t think they cared enough to make the game and animation as good as the original. Sure it looks better from a graphic perspective, but the animation and about of glitches and changes hit boxes and telling you exactly what to do all the time… it just seems like they didn’t feel like staying true to the feel; the love and respect the original had.
@@katiesherman6517 agree completely, i personally love how the game looks, alongside most of its auditorial design (GOD i love the stereo soundtracks). but with the amount of glitches that occurred, the choppy animations, the overall easier bossfights, oversights and general wrongdoing of the original product, it just makes me want to load up dolphin emulator to play the OG. i want this game to be good, but damn it should have been left in the oven for atleast another 6 months. it doesnt seem like purple lamp has any intention of fixing the game up though, as its been over a year since their last update. but, hopefully, the modding community will come through. and it truly is a shame, as i wanted this game to do the original justice, but it just doesn't do that.
I noticed Mermaidman's facial expressions are also a bit more animated and expressive in the original when he talks about the various villains that could've escaped...definitely glad I've ordered the original too...the superiority of Robo Patrick and his environment in the original, and in my opinon some of Robo Sandy, and the Rehydrated Spongebot Steelpants being creepier, is also something I notice really well with the comparison. Sandy's expressions in the Robot Patrick look more emotional in the original in my opinion too actually. I do love the new King Jellyfish fight, since he looks more like an actual Jellyfish and less like a giant tentacled muffin, and his moves are more distinctive and-(buzzing sounds, followed by screaming and sizzling)...*cough, cough* I'll stop here...
100% agree, and the original colors were far better in the industrial park. The green slime and Patricks pink. It was just an intense fight and memorable fight.
I just have one question for you: did you play the original? I don’t mind if you didn’t or did, (I like the remake too, I just don’t think it can compare to the original) I just want to know if you had that experience of trying to beat these bosses in their prime?
I think robot spongebob in the original is better hes not creepy like the Rehydrated one and kind of cute. You can also see the inside of him through his eyes specifically some of the platforms your be going on.
But instead they are in a long winded multiplayer mode that can last over 30 minutes, personally I think it would have been better if the rounds were limited to about 10 and the lives of the players were limited, I also think it would have been better if they had more variety stage wise and event wise, a random boss at the end you could actually fight couldn't hurt either, in my opinion.
@GalacticHypernova when i saw the bfbb remake update i thought for a sec that they'll try to do it so i checked a boss fight place and THE BOSS WASNT EVEN THERE!
This is why I don't Enjoy the rehydrated bosses, they felt like they were sped up and they were, it was over way to quickly. Also the robot Patrick didn't feel as intense, mostly because of the rehydrated slow spin attack and lack of attacks. Robot spongebob felt ok, but I would go back to the original, it also had better animation. Mini bosses were ok, but the prawn boss was better done in rehydrated. Overall, I gotta give the original the points.
I think I like the way the Flying Dutchman's movements and attacks in the original then the newer one despite looking cleaner. Heck the Robo Patrick Seemed off in the newer one. Maybe because they tried to make him look like a realistic robot.
I can’t be the only one who prefers the original animation. Like sure the new one is more polished, but the older one had more life to it! The new ones are like robots, stiff movements that look like if they move too slow they will die or something! And also, for the most part, the original was harder when it came to the bosses (ex: telling you how to beat the boss with… any of them…. I guess they don’t thing people can figure out basic patterns or something?) I don’t know, I have big opinions about the updated version because I grew up with this game… Don’t even get me started on the basic enemies! The new tar-tar robot can go die in a ditch with his new hit box!
i think the original games animations are absolutely goated. they are perfectly expressive and extremely charming. the remake not so much. i think the biggest issue is that they made the animations way snappier and quicker. its really apparent when having them side by side like this. the originals animations are a lot smoother and floaty. the models were well animated and expressive despite being an older game. in the opening prawn cutscene you can really see how the remake is way snappier and lifeless compared to the original. and in the opening robo patrick cutscene you can see how the posing and animations are way off and less expressive. when the remake came out i remember complaining that the models for the characters didn't look great. but now i think the models are fine and they were just animated really poorly. (should mention that i'm mainly talking about the cutscene animations. the in game animations aren't all that bad.)
The one thing I absolutely do not like about Battle for bikini bottom, are Mr. Krabs and Mermaid man’s voices. They do not sound like they were originals at all. But other than that, I love the game.
I think the original is better because the characters like Patrick SpongeBob and others are the same as in the SpongeBob cartoon the movements of the original are smooth and the remake the movements are fast the original there are more shadows
@@joshcoy6748 both are the same But i hate they put tracks were the ice cream splotches land from the patrick boss in the new one, i loved the difficulty from the original were it doesn’t tell you were its gonna land
the old clothesline move which is bugged in the remake and was never fixed. why didnt they record new voice lines for the remake. Why didnt they just patch the game later, WHY DID THEY LEAVE THE REMAKE IN A SHITTY STATE ????????????????????? WHY DOES THE COSMIC SHAKE SUCK SO MUCH. all that wont be answered because they dont care about fixing things
34:34 I like the spongebob boss in the new one better but I hate the fall animation cause old has spongebob moving while in the new one spongebob is still like he ain't moving his head and he fell terribly but the new model is better fall animation awful
Yea rehydrated is way easier especially when u bubble bowl on the goo it allows u to bubble on the goo to make it easier to hit patrick, it wont allow that in the original one
@@rbfilms4752 yea which makes it less fun the original was harder, looked more scary, and the robots had better animation, the only thing is rehydrated just looks better thats it
