The move between traditional cel animation with hand painted layers to computer animation transfers from paper, digital coloring and linking in the season 2. By season 9, it went fully digital, including backgrounds, probably animated with Wacom drawing tablets.

It's probably been said before, but the Spongebob Movie came out after season 3 if you guys ever plan on watching that. It's really good. The movie was actually meant to be the ending of the show, but Nick wanted to keep it going. Unfortunately that's where things started having a lot of ups and downs for the show, as Stephen Hillenburg stopped working on the show, seeing the movie as the perfect ending. You guys could always just watch it whenever you're done with the show, either from lack of interest or if you end up having to stop because views might start going down when you start getting into the bad episodes.

Does paramount+ put this as episode 2 of this season? I've noticed it's pretty consistently called episode 2 by reaction channels now but i'm fairly sure it was the season premiere bc the animation still looked kinda rough

I understand you have to talk every so often, it is a reaction video after all. But there are certain points where it goes on for too long, you miss jokes and story beats. Not gonna lie it's a bit frustrating, I hope you improve this in the future.
