So many guitar teachers go to the extremes and either throw in so much theory that I get lost or dumb it down so much that I don't understand why I am doing anything. You have a nice mix of detail and highlights in your lessons.
I dont know how familiar you are with Suede( sometimes London Suede) but their first guitarist Bernard Butler has long been a favourite of mine. He's a fantastic songwriter and player.
This is one of those illusive songs that I always wanted to learn to play but NEVER COULD. this is an AWESOME rendition of the song that was instrumental (Classic IV version) in my first Romantic life experience... (unfortunately it didn't work out and we went our separate ways for 36 years ... then got married... for 21 years (this year)).... Thank You Adrian! LOL!
With your explanations on the Dorian mode you've once again proved that theory in context makes much more sense than hours of abstract bs. And thanks for the great soloing!
Superb lesson. Thank you. That's a scorching solo that sounds brilliant with all the bends and double stops added in. It takes that song to another level
Thanks for adding options for those of us that are new to the guitar. I have noticed this trend in your recent videos and is very much appreciated. Also, after a quick review of the beginner solo course, I believe I'm ready to start my next adventure. You have been instrumental in providing clear and concise instruction, which makes learning the guitar fun and not so difficult. Thank you.
Thanks so much for this lesson! I think " Spooky" is a fun song to play with a really cool vibe. I absolutely love that you put this lesson out for Halloween! I am very new to your RU-vid channel and you as a teacher but I must tell you I really like what I am seeing and hearing from you so far! Your approach to teaching is awesome. You have a way of making learning fun. I really like that you put something in your lessons for every skill level too! I think you are a great teacher. I am sure your students learn fast because you make it fun! All the best to you! I look forward to seeing more or your videos. Thanks again!
Great stuff! I particularly like your soloing advice regarding a “less is more” vs meaningless noodling approach, and also the simple tip of adding the sixth for Dorian scale in the real life context of a song we are all familiar with. Would be great to see the same treatment of the Mixolydian scale if you ever get around to it. Will be checking out your soloing course.
Great lesson. I really like the approach of taking time to learn the harmony, changing key, learn melody, then and only then thinking solo options. I wish I could do this with every song. Leaves more of an impression and things to take away rather than forgetting note for note stuff in a few weeks (or next day).
Great lesson as usual Adrian! I’ve always enjoyed the Atlanta Rhythm Section’s version of this cut. Guitarist Barry Bailey has some great licks for more ideas on this classic.
@@acpg It's by far the best known version of this tune in the states. It has the nice little half step modulation from E to F in it which seemed to completely flummox a guitarist that was in a cover band I played with years ago.
Brilliant! You make that Tele cry and moan and scream (My girlfriend asked me if there was any way I could......Oh, never mind). I have always loved this song and it's perfect to adapt as an instrumental piece!
I adore your channel, Adrian. Cheers. If you ever get the chance, I’ve dedicated my life to figuring out the Blackpool versions of I Wanna Be Adored and Sugar Spun Sister by the Stone Roses. If you made a video of either one I’d be forever indebted to you lol.
Hi I recently discovered your channel, and I really like your videos, I was wondering if you could make some more stooges videos. Could you do I wanna be your dog with the intro solo? Ive been trying to play that but it is quite difficult to interpret what string Ron is actually playing
Hey man, I know this is off topic but, have you ever heard John Cale's "Slow Dazzle"? Features both Chris Spending and Manzanera. It is fantastic! Thought you might get into it.
Hey Adrian awesome video! You haven’t done a Burton video in a while. You should do mystery train/tiger man from Live 1969. So many good licks! Thanks!
I've always loved and tried playing this song "great" Can you add to your lessons, your effects and settings it's always a beginner night mare figuring out why my guitar SOUNDS nothing like My practice
The course is very much for beginners, so things like modes are outside the scope of that particular course. I may well do a follow up course looking at some more advanced concepts though.
