If it's something I've learned, particularly when it comes to writing stories and novels and making big events believable, is that the more people you involve, the more people will wanna share their opinions and some even act like they know anything about it. Whether it's solutions or "the truth" about an event or subject. And twitter is a great example of it, where majority of the text tweets are people just throwing out their unprofessional opinions, whether good, bad or inbetween. I guess it's cause we humans have evolved that way, to communicate and fix things as a group effort, just that we likely evolved that way with 20 people in mind, not thousands upon thousands.

@@CaptainCFalcon I know this is an old comment but it's not just intrusive thoughts that made Floyd want to keep the other guy in the cave it is human instinct since we are pack animals we desire the company of others in some shape or form and he knew that a cave in was about to happen so the base instinct of being alone kicked in to make him try and get Cassie to stay with him even though it would have most likely resulted in both of them dying.

Yes, you can be stealthy with a tank. Hence, the camouflage. Tanks may be loud, but Tank vs. Tank, the other guys can't hear over their engine either. Also, since treads are repairable, sometimes they're just pretending to be broken down and are actually surprise artillery/gun nest.

Some tank killing tanks were meant to be stealthy too. Remember tank refers to gun+tracked carriage, so a Marder that "protects" the crew with a few thin metal slats is still a "tank" And so is the single man Italian CV35 "toddler tank" with the dinky cannon. They are meant to park in bushes and shoot other tanks point blank! You sneak up and as Mighty Jingles puts it "give them the surprise buttsex" by shooting the fuel drum or ammo compartment The CV line was quieter than standard Autoblinda/Puma armoured cars, even! So you could even sneak up on a loudly yapping/smoking infantry platoon

This , in my opinion, is Internet Historian's magnum opus. Not only is it proof that he can do more than just comedic videos, but the story is so well researched and dramatically told that it captivates you from beginning to end. And while the story is tragic, mostly caused by onlookers who weren't helping making the situation worse. Floyd's brother , Miller and Gerald were the MVPs tho Floyd's brother wanted to help him, even after his death. Even though the most he could do at that point was give him a proper burial Miller came for the story, but actually wanted to help. And you could argue that its him reporting the story that we know about it at all. And Gerald was a straight up GIGACHAD, he nearly got Floyd out all on his own.

So glad you finally got to see this one. I've seen several people who have wanted to react to it, but either couldn't find it (at least not an official upload from IH) or were worried about getting hit with a copyright strike if they reacted to one of the unofficial re-uploads. It might have a bittersweet tone to it, but I really do think this is probably one of the best videos IH has ever made. I love all the creativity and innovation on display from the people who were trying to rescue him. It's just a good reminder (and one I think we could use now and then) that people in the past weren't a bunch of clueless simpletons as they can often be depicted in modern media and pop culture. The people of the past might not have known as much about the world around them as we do or had all of the technology that we have now, but people were absolutely just as capable of adapting and innovating to solve problems as they are now. Hell, we wouldn't even HAVE the knowledge and technology that we do in modern day if people hadn't spent thousands of years improving on what the generations before them created while also coming up with new ideas of their own. As a side note, I also can't help but appreciate that, when many would have given up after the cave-ins, this crew's reaction was "The hole is gone? Well fine then, if that's how the cave wants to play: DIGGY DIGGY HOLE!" True Dwarves, the lot of them. Another IH video I'd really suggest is The Fall of 76, featuring the many shenanigans involved with the release of Fallout 76. If you're interested in things like this that lean towards a more serious side then I'd also check out the guy who played Floyd here, Wendigoon. His videos aren't comedy-driven like IH's are, but he covers a lot of topics regarding mysteries, tragedies, and conspiracies ranging from actual historical incidents (such as the lost Franklin expedition) to diving into the history and lore of fictional works (like the Mandela Catalogue). Though as a warning, some of his videos cover things like true crime (which can get pretty dark and grisly), so if you feel like checking out his work but you're also kind of squeamish I'd avoid the ones covering those subjects. Thankfully, at least based on what I've seen, he tends to put warnings in the title if the video contains particularly sensitive content.

9:10 - As an answer to your question, yes, you can indeed, be stealthy with a tank. You just need to think about what stealth means. It means to not be noticed by the enemy before you shoot them. So to do this with a tank, just stay in cover and fire from long range where it's hard for the enemies at a distance to notice you immediately. Such as behind a group of trees that obscure your chunky tank shape rather than right smack dab in the middle of an open field.

This is true, but like why do you care? Reactions are way way more plagerising that what he did. He took a written media and changed it into a video, a reactor takes an entire video and makes the same video and changes nothing about it, this would be the equvilant of taking the original research and merely reposting everything in the paper and just changing the conclusion slightly
@neillocke7429
@neillocke7429 7 месяцев назад
Because its weird that he tried to hide the fact that it was plagiarism, since he's had such a clean record up to this point Plus even if you dont care you know who did? The actual author, who had to go out of their way to protect their work

@@neillocke7429 so like sneakly stealing someones work is bad obviously but blantely copying someones enitire work for reaction is fine? Sure you give credit but thats about it, it only boosts the reactor, earns the reactor more money based off someone elses work and is sometimes done against that creators direct wishes like with dailydose. Why is copyright infringement okay but only plagerism is the only one being called out here. If you care about the original creators of content being compensated then you can't be fine reactions or plagerism.

Interesting thing about your thoughts on the media's influence on incidents like this around the 1:12:00 mark, actually. There's quite a few modern examples, including several cave-ins in other countries, where because of the technology we have in this Information Age, the right people in the right professions found out about these cave-ins a lot sooner than the people in Floyd's story. I don't remember the exact country or how long it took, but I remember watching a documentary a few months back about a whole team of miners trapped in a gargantuan, total-mineshaft collapse a while back, and because news spread about it within the hour, they had hundreds of millions of dollars in manpower and equipment ready and available to dig and excavate an escape route over the days they were trapped. Granted, the one I remember looking into had many complications regarding several different mineral pockets, additional cave-ins and almost completely cut-off oxygen to where the miners were trapped, and so it still wasn't an easy or quick rescue, but the people with the right ideas were able to get on the scene much sooner thanks to the media and spread of information.

Keep in mind about "cave tourism": First of all, it was the 1920s. Not a lot going on in general back then (and it was before KFC lol). And second, it's not all of Kentucky, but specifically the southwest of the state, where Mammoth Cave is. In north/central Kentucky (near where I'm from) we've got horses, and eastern Kentucky, being located along the Appalachian Mountains, used to be full of coal mines. And many areas of the state have decent farmland too (lots of cows around here). I don't know why farmland was so crappy around there; my assumption would be that the soil is very rocky due to the caves. And people have to make a living somehow, especially in the 20s so...cave tourism!

@ZanathKariashi Год назад
Between Homer and Gerald, and maybe Burton (who was also a local), they might've been able to do it as there wasn't really anyone helping meaningfully at that point besides Miller that wasn't local. If the crowds had been run off after Miller showed up, and Burton simply did a shift removing rubble instead of immediately trying to rope pull, they'd have potentially gotten him out by the time Gerald got there. And without all the crowd, they'd have had much more time to work and brain-storm if they didn't have him freed by the time Gerald arrived. Though considering how close they came, just getting the onlookers that weren't helping with the rescue to leave would've likely saved his life.

A LOT of tank battles were stealth based actually. Tanks are loud when they move, but so loud that if you're moving you can't hear other tanks moving. A lot of tank battles were positioning, trying to stealth, figuring out where the opponent is, and getting that first shot off. There's an amazing, yet little known, Russian war movie from 2019 called T-34 that shows off A LOT of really cool tank battles tactics

For the stealthy with a tank- yes actually. The techniques were pioneered in ww2 with ambush manuevers. You throttle down or turn off your emgine, and then hull down in a pit, hide in bushes with camoflage netting, and otherwise conceal your presence. Then, when the enemy walks infront of your guns, let em have it. These days we actually dig Y trench firebases when we send out tanks, the Y shape allows the tank crew to pop out at one of any three points, preventing the enemy from getting a good bead on them before they can fire and retreat back under the trench.
