Hey guys I got the chance to bring out the all new 2018 Harley Davidson Sport Glide and I have to say that I really enjoyed this motorcycle. It corners great, handles great and is very Torquey. 108ft lbs of torque at 2700 rpm's instead of 3 and 35 like the other models. The mini bar wing fairing and hard clam shell bags can be removed very easily with little effort and put back on in minutes. I think this new Sport Glide is exactly what Harley needed. It has cruise control, ABS and Security standard. Check it out and let me know what you think! Thanks for watching and stay riding and stay Awesome!

Just traded my 2019 Iron 1200 in for a 2019 Sport Glide. (Freedom promise + Christmas deals + 2020 models being out = killer savings!) Man what a bike! It wasn't even on my radar. I was fixin' to get a heritage until I popped on this. This bike is a dream!

My first experience on an FXR was my aunt's old FXRT, so you can imagine my disappointment when they released this. I liked everything about the new Sport Glide except the way they look. Except today I finally saw one in person and I gotta say, it looks sharp as hell up close, and IMO when it's naked it looks the most "Softail" out of all the new Softails. Great review dude!

I saw this bike the other day on youtube and I have been hanging out for your review. I believe that Harley(as you stated) have really nailed it with the sport glide.Now I just have to wait until it comes to Australian dealerships so that I can test ride it. Great review as per usual brother. Stay safe.

Great review, thanks! I have a SP '18 and everything you stated was spot on. It's definitely the best HD out there, best of both worlds. I use it for everyday in LA ....manouvers in the traffic flawlessly ....like a knife going thru butter, and at the same time I go on long trips regularly. You nailed it by saying going on long trips, you rather be on a sports looking and feel bike versus a heavy Street Glide or any other softail/touring. There's one thing I want to point out that you kind of alluded to in the video. I keep hearing & reading from so many complaining about the failure of the fairing in not shielding the rider from the wind fully. I think they completely miss the plot with this bike and what HD people had in mind when designing the Sport Glide. Any bigger fairing and it would defeat the whole "sport" idea of this beauty. If anyone is looking for maximum wind protection, which that in itself is taboo due to the underwind at higher speeds, then they should look at the multiple offerings within the touring line. THIS is a SPORT Glide. As you explained so well, it glides thru the bends and offers an incredibly stable, precise yet comfortable ride for a sport bike. The fairing is a sport fairing. It's just big enough to shield the torso from the wind, the widest part of the body. At the same time it's small enough to let the rider feel the wind on the face....it is a SPORT bike after all, right? It's like getting a convertible car but never putting down the top. Worse still, put the top down but slide down the seat so as to avoid the wind. I personally love the design. Of course if the rider is a litte taller than average, the visor can be replaced with a higher one to shield more of the chest. Frankly I am astonished how so many people miss the whole point of the design. If having a huge fairing to shield from the wind is such a big factor when it comes to it's purchase, then this isn't the bike to be looking at. A very similar bike can be found within the Touring line that has a massive wind shield/fairing and.... even with the option of a 114 versus the SP's 107......of course it also comes with a minimum of 100 pounds heavier! Maybe HD marketing department hasn't done the SP justice. Maybe HD should explain the purpose of the SP's fairing design more explicitly. Personally, living in LA with it's mild weather compared to other parts of the country, I took off my fairing the day I rode it out of the dealer. In the past 2 years, I have never once rode with it on. Not only the wind has never bothered me, it has actually made my ride much more fun. I actually think it should be an option so that the base price would be lower and more competitive with other manufacturers. Anyway, I quite like it's rather traditional HD look speaking of which I was so happy that contrary to the Breakout, the SP is not equipped with digital speedometer etc. Another best of both worlds design, the SP has the look of the 70s with 21st century technology. I would have really preferred if it's speedometer and tachometer were split like the Low Rider giving it that much more of a traditional look. Overall, as you stated, HD needed such a bike in it's line of bikes. It's definitely THE BEST Softail/touring HD hands down. Just wish it came with a 114 S, or even 131....after all IT IS called SPORT Glide.....fly like an eagle....

This bike handles really well. It’s one of the most fun bikes I’ve owned. I’ve owned sport bikes. This is a cruiser but and it’s a big butt, this bike does remind me a tiny bit of riding a sport bike. I really like having the bags. Very convenient. I would like to put some sort of wrap or paint because they seem like they show scrape marks easily. The fairing with the 5” screen does help some on the Freeways/Highways. I put mini floorboards on the front and it’s so comfortable. It’s almost 700 lbs but feels like 500 lbs. Mods are starting to come out for this model, soooooooo here we go...... Great review, nice positive attitude. Ride safe

I been waiting for this man. It def looks like they took a lowrider and halfway did the club style for you and added some upgrades along the way. I'm now stuck between this and a road king special for my next bike. But like you I ride hard everywhere I go so this may be better. Just hate the damn plastic fender piece for license plate and the tail lights. That would have to be the first mod. Don't forget to mention Harley said they narrowed the primary on this model over the other softails. Thanks for the review

This is definitely one of Harley's current "high value" bikes. I also like the LowRider. Great looking with lots of standard features. I love that this bike is finished off. It has standard two-tone gloss black and chrome trim everywhere, which makes accessory shopping less painful, and it is beautiful. One thing I would like is bags that lock to the bike and an optional high windshield. I would personally like higher bars, like apes. Other than that, it is darn near perfect.

I am looking for my first Harley and coming from a sports bike I went to a touring bike. I didn't do as much touring as I thought but this fits a nice middle ground. I am just waiting to see what they come out with the wind screen.I definitely would want a slightly taller one. I thought the bags were flimsy though. But it does ride well and turns nicely.

Bought a new Sport Glide 11/11/2017 - I've been sitting on a test riding different HD platforms for ten years - vibration and girth always kept me from plunking down the bucks. When I test road the 2018 Sport Glide I had to hide my enthusiasm to keep the sales people from jacking up the price. I liked it SO much I told them to add the Screaming Eagle Stage IV upgrade to 114 CU. Damn, HD finally got me. I think my highly customized Indian Scout and 2014 Honda Valkyrie are gonna get layers and layers of garage dust on them.

I sure wish they'd put some decent lean angle on that bike...sub 30 degrees just doesn't cut it for something with the word sport in the name. It may handle well within the 27.9 on the R and 28.7 on the L degrees of lean angle but that just means I'll want to throw it around more and end up scraping stuff. I'm sure you could eek out a bit more lean angle with a longer Ohlins out back. FWIW, you'd have more lean angle on a Street Glide, albeit a heavier bike. At least they put a decent sized fuel tank on it. Thanks for posting this up, I've been interested in this since it was announced.

@fastjax
@fastjax 6 лет назад
I've upgraded the Mic several times already and am currently running a pretty expensive mic. So for now I'm going to have to lean more toward placement and condition as being the culprit of some of the audio issues. The Mic is very close to my mouth and the contact point is in the elements. I will have to keep messing with it until I find the right mic and position. but for now buying a mic a month isnt getting me anywhere. thanks for the feedback though, It's a constant issue Im battling

oh thats a tough one! Hey Jax hope your doing fucken awesome! Loving your videos just came across you so I’m going back and watching all your videos. Had a question, I have a 17 softail slim. What are your thoughts on legends air suspension. I’m thinking of adding that. I’m fairly new to harleys as this is my first. Not sure what exactly to expect, but from what I hear that suspension is a dam Cadillac Hope you and your family have a fantastic upcoming thanksgiving!

Thanks brother I Appreciate that! And what are you after when it comes to suspension? Are you just looking for a softer smoother ride or are you looking for some better performance with a smother ride? I actually haven't dealt with legend too much but I haven't heard anything negative. I don't see too many people change the suspension on their softails at my dealership. I do a lot more sportster and Dyna shock upgrades but I'm sure you'll be happy with them

joserubenvega Then I think the legend shocks would probably be perfect for you. I've done some longer rides on a Slim myself and the first thing I'd change is the seat by far if you haven't already and if that didn't cut it I'd go for some shocks.
@joserubenvega
@joserubenvega 6 лет назад
Fast-Action Jax I most definitely changed that seat out haha I didn’t feel my ass on the way home after 200miles. I currently have a mustang seat on there It’s their touring model I believe, including the passenger and backrest for both. Then I have the Memphis batwing with the spoiler on it. I mainly want to do the suspension to improve the ride quality for the gf. She says the ride is rough and I would wonder if with the added comfort she would be willing to ride more, right now she’s happy is winter here in Chicago now. But she also doesn’t ride with me all that much either so I also wonder if it would be worth spending the money on a suspension right now, I feel like I would be able to grind out a long trip with the stock suspension but I’m sure the upgraded suspension would be awesome. Currently looking at adding some viking slanted saddlebags with a quick detach. I’ve also yet to change the air filter and I also have not done a tune, I only have short shots Vance an Hines I would also like to get a used sportster like yours one day, awesome bikes

sounds like the same situation as me, its hard to get my wife to ride. time is an issue mostly with no one to watch the kiddo but still. I'm sure you found out really quick just how much changing the suspension is and the stock suspension really isnt that bad on softail models. if you can manage and your mostly changing it for her I wouldnt do it to be honest. its a hefty price to pay if you pull the trigger and dont get the result your looking for (wife riding more) because no matter how much I change personally mine would still rather just take the car. slims are not the most comfortable bikes for a passenger to begin with.

Excellent looking machine! Can you tell me - do the bags lock please? In the film they just close and have a lever. But hope you can lock them on! Also, about the only thing I'm not keen on is the pipes. I guess that aftermarket separate duels etc will soon be made available.
@fastjax
@fastjax 6 лет назад
Yes the bags do lock, and I actually like the exhaust but I'm a 2 into 1 fan myself. I would still change it though.

How would you compare the vibrations/engine feel at highway speeds vs. the new Road King? I really like this bike, but I like it smooooth for longer trips...
@fastjax
@fastjax 6 лет назад
I think it is pretty smooth, in a test to see which is smoother the road king would probably win but not by a whole lot. I dont think you'd get uncomfortable at any point. It rode very nicely.

Thank you for this review. I'm almost certain this will be my next bike. For my reference. What is your height.? I'm 5'9 1/4".. regarding ergonomics. Wondering if we were same height. Thanks. Looks like it handles real good. And has the nice bags. Wow

I see a lot of videos on this bike travelling on straight/highway roads. I wish someone would take this bike through some twisties just to see how it handles going through hilly/forest roads and see if it really justifies the name "Sport Glide".

Yeah I wish, Unfortunately I live in florida so even finding a twisty road period is an adventure in itself.

Hey jax great review, how's the seating position say compared to the FATBOB...?
@fastjax
@fastjax 6 лет назад
MR AW50ME The fatbobs seating position puts you in a little more aggressive position due to the bars on that model. You sit in about the same riders triangle on this bike but the bars have more pullback and it's lower so your back is straight

Love the new wheels. Does this prove that you can put forward controls on the new softails that come with mids? Where is the 13K Softail?
@fastjax
@fastjax 6 лет назад
jmilb10053 Even if not released yet, you will be able to. Harley has always focused a lot on fitment
@jmilb10053
@jmilb10053 6 лет назад
On the Lowriders and the StreetBobs there is a reservoir on the break side of the frame where the forwards should go. I am not sure how Harley got it to work with the Breakout. The slim, classic, and deluxe's foot boards are under the reservoir so it does not affect them. I do not know what the reservoir is for.
@MidniteSon

Its just a newer version of the switchback.
@mikebigeasyrider
@mikebigeasyrider 6 лет назад
Nice Bike, but imo the foot controls are way to forward, not good for slow maneuvers , my idea would have been put smallfloor boards further back , closer to mid controls.
@fastjax
@fastjax 6 лет назад
Mike BigEasyRider I'm A mid control guy myself and one of my complaints with this bike was it having forwards, but you'd be surprised. They did it in a way that doesn't make you lose too much of that
@mikebigeasyrider
@mikebigeasyrider 6 лет назад
Yep, I am a mid control guy also, last bike I had b/f my Road King was a Dyna Super Glide, mid controls. I will have to do a demo ride on it at my dealership, the bike does look good though!

Why are all the Harley’s going to forward controls? What about us short guys? I ride a 2003 Dyna low ryder and was going to buy this new Sport glide but can’t reach !

It's a good looking bike, and I bet it's fun to ride. I just have to scratch my head, with the cruiser/ Softail line appearing to have all of the bases covered already, especially with the availability of bolt on parts, how relevant is this bike going to be @ $19K? And if the "Sport" term is going to be used, I hope Harley has something new in the works with the VRod engine in a real sport touring model. This looks like a Low Rider with bags and fairing sans the wheels and inverted forks.

@MarcRitchie
@MarcRitchie 6 лет назад
I'm sure it's a blast. It looks like a cool bike. At nearly 20 grand, I will be interested in how well it sells, and how the new Softail line compares its sales in '18 to overall Softail and Dyna models in '17. Not to be a pessimist, but with the current market, I'm betting the numbers will be nearly the same, or slightly lower, and this model won't make much of a splash. .02.

@fastjax
@fastjax 6 лет назад
Im 6' and I think youd be fine on this model but everyone likes things to fit a little different so I'd suggest going to riding or at least sitting on one, Harley does make extended reach seats and extended forwards as well if you need a little more room

You didn't really ride hard around a right hand corner where it is likely to scrape first and you didn't say if mid controls can be fitted, especially given you are pushing the sports aspects of this bike.

Jax.... do you think that bike is worth 19k?
@fastjax
@fastjax 6 лет назад
CreedX360 I have no comments about price, I learned a long time ago in this business that price is a matter of perspective. 19k could be the most expensive bike in the world to some and the cheapest to others. So is it worth 19k? You'd have to tell me brother, cause If I could buy this bike I would. but to me 19k is pretty expensive, not speaking of the bikes worth.
@Axl_colts
@Axl_colts 6 лет назад
Fast-Action Jax ....I understand what yer saying. Imo these 2018s are priced too high for the average Joe. Cool looking bike....and if it was about 3k cheaper if go for it!
@PowerYacht
@PowerYacht 6 лет назад
Street Bob and Low Rider are more or less the same price, just 500$ more. Slim with 107 is cheaper then S with 110 and 750 more then standard. Price difference for a new frame and much modern engine is not that much all IMO.
@fastjax
@fastjax 6 лет назад
I'm with you on that one, I could probably do 15+++ but I cant do 19+++. cause the +++ kills ya
@GearinSuper
@GearinSuper 6 лет назад
You can compare Softail prices in 2006 were on average $14.6 for a standard so there's a $4k increase in the past 12 yrs. So in 2028 Harley Softail will cost you 23k on average and over 26 for a custom. Yikes!
