Hello, this is Koooo. Stayed in the car with a sports car called Toyota GR86. The inside of the car is small, but it was fun. #carcamp #carcamping #toyotagr86 #asmr
This was very wholesome and insightful to watch. I'm into cars but haven't been into camping, however this makes me want to try camping in my sedan. Great job setting your 86 up for it!
@@Kacpa2 So my rear seats fold forward but not fully flat, and the boot floor is a lot lower. Doesn't look comfortable, but I like my car so want to see if it's possible lol
@@seanm996 You could try try to make a sleeping platform but in a sedan its kind of bad verticly, station wagon would ve much more versatile. Tho you still can try to make a new trunk floor from some ply wood to raise it up or camping foam mattress pads and cut the to shape. Unless the angle pf the seats when folded is extreme then front sits reclined as flat as possible is an option
@@Kacpa2 Those are some good ideas thanks. I'll have to investigate more. The front passenger seat might be the best option, I would only need the sleeping bag, pillow, and cut out window covers. Would still be a fun adventure I imagine!
this was unbelievably relaxing to watch. i'm thinking about also camping inside my 1988 firebird and documenting it just like you. keep up the amazing content man!!
This video told me more about the practicality of the 86 than every other review that I've seen combined. Well done, can't wait to take mine on some cross-US road trips.
@@Koooo_DriveandCamp I really want to travel to Japan one day and do a road trip there. Hoping to do so sometime next year as a celebration for finishing college.
Now that is what I call innovation. Sleeping/camping inside a car most people would call it impossible. This guy definitely broke the boundaries! Love that video!
You always read and see old film of people driving and doing a country picnic like this but society then felt out of love with such adventure. Glad to see, in the social media era, that people are encouraged again to do this type of travel and to encourage others.
Thanks for watching my video! Actually yes, the GR86 is a sports car and fun to drive, but it is also very practical. It can carry a full set of camping gear and you can sleep in the car.
Your setup is so creative! Here in the US most of the people who do this kind of stuff either have a van or pop up tent on a truck. Seeing someone do it in a small sports car is awesome!
This is so cozy. I found that Japanese people are so good at using spaces. When I visited Tokyo I was surprised by the size of the hotel but also felt fun. I couldn’t even fully open my luggage case but I can see the Tokyo skyline from the gigantic window. It’s such an amazing trip. I want to visit Japan again!!
It might be my 6th car right now - very jealous if you get it as your first!! Always good to look forward and have a goal for the future, but to be given it to you by your parents!! Wow
I have the outgoing 2020 model. Pretty good first sports car if a bit slow. And it’s rare enough (at least here in America with all these mustangs, Camaros, and challengers) that you def get some looks passing by.
Yes, car camping is safe. In all my car camping experience, I've rarely been bothered by a person or wildlife. However, occasionally things do happen and where you decide to park for the night is usually the biggest factor.
Thank you! I've been wanting a 86 for a while. And I have been wondering if camping in one was possible. I love camping and I love these cars. You have inspired me even more to get a GR86 or BRZ.
I’ve wanted an 86 for a while now and this video made me want it even more. Such a fun, versatile car. Can I ask how tall you are? I’d love to camp in one too!! Also, your English is really good! Thank you for the subtitles, I got to watch along with your adventure. Thank you!
Thanks for watching my video! The GR86 is a very nice car. I am about 5'7" tall, but I think I can lie down up to 5'11". Sorry, my English is not good and I can only speak Japanese. Instead, I carefully translate the subtitles and comments one by one.
@@botandrew1 I am 1.85m and sleep in my GT86. The length of the lying surface is 1.95m in the GT. I assume it will be a bit shorter in the GR, but should still enough for you.
@@Koooo_DriveandCamp you’re too humble, your subtitles were super interesting to read and got the message clearly across. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos!
So cool to see a legend be able to do many things from daily drivers, track racing, drifting, touge racing, and even camping!? I mean what else could you want this is the perfect daily car for many people..
I think you should add rain guards so you can open the windows a little bit for fresh air when its raining, especially when cooking to clear the smoke. Great video!
With frameless doors you sasly cant have rain guards. Best there is are side with deflectors that go over them. They work mostly when driving. But if rain is light like here it isnt much of a problem
Thanks for watching my video! My channel will continue to be updated and become better and better. I will be very happy if you are watching my videos then.
Thanks for watching my video! It may not have looked like it was open in the video, but it actually was. I need to get some ventilation, otherwise it's too hot to sleep!
One time I had a small roadtrip I decided to take 1 day early in my 86, but turns out there were no hotel rooms available around the area I was in. So I went to the store and bought a blanket and slept in the back of my 86 just like in this video!
I'm glad i ain't the only one that scoot the seat back and get out. I do this in the S2000 and Type R.....or actually pretty much all manual transmission cars.
Thanks for watching my video! Even though I am small, it is difficult for me to get in and out of the car without moving the seat. However, I am not afraid of this tight space.
Wow that’s really interesting content! I was surprised by the practicality of Gr86. I can see everything though I don’t really like camping. Thank you very much for your video.
The more and more I watch Camping videos, the more and more truer what Jeremy Clarkson said, “Camping is deliberately making life harder for yourself.”
Thanks for watching my video! Yes, I think it is hard for tall people. Luckily I am about 170cm, but there is still plenty of leg room, so I might be able to handle up to 180cm.
This is fantastic! I was wondering how I was going to travel across the USA in my BRZ without paying for expensive hotels. You've shown me the solution!
That was brilliant. You took the best version of this car (though I am a Subaru fan boy), with the best color of the car, added the lovely TOM's bits, and went all prepared to camp in it. Amazing! Although I am a Subaru fan I do have a Yaris TS (Vitz, 2004) and a Jimny which I did take to camp a few times, slept crumped in the back seat from side to side, it was tough but I made it. Great times. I wish I could buy the GR86 but it does not sell in my country sadly and to import one will cost about, in current exchange rate: 11,020,000 Yen. So I guess I will start to watch your videos about beautiful Japan I want to visit one day, in another dream car I wish to have one day. Thank you for your time to put on the subtitles!
Thanks for watching the video, and for your nice comments! The GR86 is the result of a collaboration between Toyota and Subaru, so it has been well received by fans on both sides. It made me realize that Japan is blessed to have such a car sold at a reasonable price in an era when sports cars are not popular.
I also had a GT86, and always wanted to do 車中泊, will try the set up, thank you for your video. 私がGT86ある、ずっと車中泊と思っていたんだ。やってみます。 ありがとうございました。 (日本語を勉強しています, Kooooさんが理解していると願います)
About to do something like this end of the month here in US - will probably use a wood board + 2 folding crates I'll use for stuff anyway (InstaCrate, our Costco sells these, maybe yours does too!) as pillow area. These cars need good power BADLY, but handling and versatility is second to none in their class! You guys have the GR Yaris though, and I can imagine that one being an absolute treat for long trips.
Thanks for watching my video! Yes, the GR86 is lightweight and powerful for a cheap price, and I'm sure the GR Yaris can carcamp, but the soon-to-be-released GR Corolla looks more comfortable for the same hatchback.
Wow, awesome video. Love the GR86. Been looking for a manual for sometime now, but just went for the Supra instead since they were so hard to find! Regardless, great video!
Thanks for watching my video! That's great that you own a GR Supra. Must have been expensive, right? I'm glad you complimented the video. Please check out our other videos.
Man..I wish I have a car one day that I can sleep, eating, watching video on it and even custom it and going for a trip with it nice video by the way from malaysia 🇲🇾
This is great! We use our GT86 as a camper too. Nice to know we're not the only crazy people who do this. It's the same colour as yours. 2020 we did a 16 day roadtrip only sleeping in the 86. But we use a 1.3 x 1.9 m foam mattress and normal blankets. Even though I am 1.85m tall I can sleep comfortably in there. The window shades are a great idea! Which Material is that? It is surprising that your windows aren't fogged. We sleep with the windows half way down and usually the rear windows are fogged, sometimes the windscreen aswell (depending on the weather). Do you have something else to handle moisture or is it just held up by the shades? Keep that interesting stuff up! Greetings from Germany
Thanks for watching my video! I'm honored that we're on a similar trip with the same body color, even I've never done a 16 day trip, that's awesome! I made the window shades myself with urethane mats and netting for the outdoors. I open the windows too. Sometimes the glass gets fogged up. Maybe it's because I run a fan so it doesn't fog up as easily. I'm glad you're watching my videos from a country far away from Germany. Keep checking this channel.
Thanks for watching my video! Yes, I think there are pros and cons to using fire in a small car. If this channel grows, you can buy portable batteries with the proceeds so you can cook safely with them.
@@KrashKan My biggest excuse for getting the 2023 1LE 2SS was that I am a GM Mechanic. Otherwise I'd probably buy some older Japanese car but the roads here just don't fair well with them.
@@frbrbrgrblgrr7777 i got a 2014 1LS but i dont like all the modern overengineered stuff gm has done to it. can't even change the shift knob without doing some goofy adapter with a grub screw that nobody makes.
@@KrashKan they make them less and less worth working on. I got a 10 speed for a reason, it has less electric garbage to monitor it than the 6 speed manual. Truth be told I mostly own this car for the later on resale to the old people lol
Thanks for watching my video! Yes, I know, there are a few who do serious camping in sports cars. I did a lot of searches on RU-vid and found very few hits on sports car camping, so I decided to post a video myself. lol
Respect! Don’t forget to crack the windows when using flame indoors. I’m sure those fuel tables are safe to use inside, but I still wouldn’t risk it. I would add window rain guards so you can crack the windows when it’s raining! Be blessed !
Thanks for watching my video! In case you couldn't tell, when we use a fire, we open a window and turn on a fan to ventilate the room. We use solid fuel instead of burners to lower the risk, but you are right, it is still dangerous. Eventually I would like to bring a portable battery and cook using electricity. The rain guard is very useful and attractive, but I am hesitant to purchase one because it would detract from the beauty of the GR86. If you liked this video, please check out our other videos.
Very creative set up! Do you have any issues with condensation buildup between the insulation and the glass? If so, it might be worth hiding magnets behind the interior trim and making plates that stick on.
Thanks for watching the video. It does have condensation as you said. I know it's unavoidable as long as I sleep in the car, but I'll take your great ideas into consideration.
Having more “air barrier” between the glass and whatever is covering it will help reduce it a lot. Your videos remind me of when I was younger and didn’t have to worry about stuff so much. Keep having fun, I look forward to seeing more!
So cool! Are you allowed to camp at parking lots like these in japan? Where I come from you're not allow to at most places :( Greetings from switzerland
Thanks for watching my video! There are some places in Japan where it is allowed and some where it is not. Many places prohibit fire even if long term parking is allowed, so I have been using campgrounds more and more these days.
