Stop using "PSA" as a precursor every time you refer to a grade. 44:20 mark - "Don't assume you'll get a PSA 10." Just say "Dont assume you'll get a 10." That repeated usage of PSA when you're not talking specifically about that company just reinforces the bias of this channel. I get they're in business with PSA. But, try to show some neutrality.
It’s already occurring. It’s not going to hit more expensive cards like it will hit the cards under $200. But it will likely not peak at the end of this period, it will peak before the end. We may be getting closer to the great dumping of cards.
Depends on the era of card. You're not going to see 10,000 89 Upper Deck Griffey PSA 10s drop in the next 5 years. Ultra-modern from 2018-Present is a different story
I really wish PSA gave customers an option to add visible subgrades to the back of their slabs just like how BGS does for their slabs. Or at least an opportunity to view subgrades online if you look up the cert number.
PSA takes way too long and too many people have been disappointed by their service. I have been investing in sports cards for quite some time and I recommend those who are in investing to use AGS. With AI being the wave of the future, AGS has implemented a robot that grades your cards for you that produces unbiased cards. Furthermore, they have fast return times when you need the grade quickly and AGS offers logical and legitimate prices. I have always been satisfied by their service.
@@justinzhang6780 bottom line, people use and trust PSA, BGS, CSG and SGC. Those are the top graders in the industry that command that high ROI than any other companies out there.
Subgrades require algorithms to weigh and come up with a final grade. BGS started with subs. PSA would need to spend lots of $ to get to adding those. Vintage is even tougher. Computers can't always pick up on counterfeit, power erasing, and trimming. Humans still have to look over a card either way.
As someone who worked in grading for 1 of the big 3, the algorithms and work needed to build out subs would be tough for company who didn't start that way. BVG and BGS started with subs.
Agreed! they will get all of my business going forward. CSG would be my backup. Can't stand what the scam artists at PSA are doing with POP control and giving out graded based on who subscribers with them! They have lost my business forever. Even BGS I would trust before them!
@@petalparrot12 I've heard a lot of stories and controversies like this revolving around PSA. Just because you're the golden standard you abuse your power... sad. HGA is certainly the future.
HGA is okay but PSA.... PSA has been way too inconsistent with their grading. I have been investing in sports cards for quite some time and I think AGS is the new wave of card grading. With AI being the wave of the future, AGS has implemented a robot that grades your cards for you that produces unbiased cards. Besides, AGS robot allows the cards to be graded quickly unlike human graders and AGS offers rational and rational prices. Try their service once and you’ll never go back to human card grading companies!
Lets be honest, PSA's grading has NOT been consistent lately. So many cards are under-graded or over-graded. SGC and BGS are more consistent with their grading, even tho I know PSA brings in the most value. There are sooo many times where I think a card should be a 9 or 10, it would come back a 6 or 7, and there are times where I think a card is a 7 or 8, and it comes back as a 10 from PSA.
Yeah I agree. PSA has been way too inconsistent with their grading. As a sports card investor, I recommend those who are in investing to use AGS. The robots grade the card accurately and precisely. Furthermore, AGS robot allows the cards to be graded quickly unlike human graders and AGS offers legitimate and reasonable prices. AGS have not disappointed me in their grading service.
Saying to stay away from HGA since other companies have a known committment for quality shows that these people are really biased on their grading companies. Like come on, PSA gives 10 like candy and they also flop on the naming of their slabs even tho they have years and years of experience ahead of all the others. Not to mention their very poor customer service. The slabs of SGC and CGC, no offense, looks bad. If your looking for quality and good looking slabs with legit grades go for BGS and HGA. More so, promoting startup companies will improve the quality of grading and turn around time of the established companies due to increased competition. So dont turn down HGA right since they are just starting.
You might think about doing a video on how to spot problems (recoloring, trimmed, etc.,) so how we can help ourselves from purchasing raw cards, selling raw cards and saving on time waiting for cards to be returned from grading companies. Just a thought.
As we move into the future and more grading companies become established and get good reputations, when will a 10 be treated the same the no matter the company?
When people quit blindly buying the crappy PSA 10's! I have seen at least 100 videos where the submitter is surprised their card got a 10, when it was off centered or had issues they could see. It happens the other way too, where a card that is very very nice gets a 7 or an 8. It is so obvious that PSA is poor at grading, yet for some reason, people still trust them, no matter what they see!
Hopefully that happens, it seems that everyone using PSA has created a bunch of inconsistent grades. Hope those new grading companies with new tech enter the scene like AGS, they use AI to grade cards which is supposed to be more consistent.
Just realized i main posted this. Thought it was a response.
Yeah it's not only PSA's prices. Last time I used PSA, they returned the grade over a year later. I have been investing in sports cards for quite some time and I think AGS is the new wave of card grading. With AI being the wave of the future, AGS has implemented a robot that grades your cards for you that produces unbiased cards. Furthermore, they have fast return times when you need the grade quickly and they have rational and rational prices. I have always been satisfied by their service.
I'm new to this. I inherited my father's collection. Anyway, it seems to me that the graders that charge extra money for a card that is worth more money after they grade it is extortion. You send the card in with a price for grading and if you hit the jackpot...the grader sticks his hand out for more money? Does it cost the grader more money to process that card as opposed to any other card? To avoid the feel of corruption or payoffs, grading should be one price for all cards. You both sat there during this whole video praising how honest the graders are, then the card is a winner, they want to tap into the winnings. Just my opinion, but I could be wrong. Like I said I'm new. But that would be extortion in any other industry.
Thanks for the very informative video love the complete breakdown of what’s going on in the hobby today, it sucks we won’t be able to look forward to grading with PSA as easily but we’ll see how fast they clear their backlog. I’m personally might just stick with SGC for the time being and only use PSA if I have something really valuable to submit. I think the value of SGC should increase since we are seeing more of their grading in the market. If I can grade with the other companies I’ll also consider that as well depending on who I can find around my way thru third party options.
There is no way a company can physically grade that number of cards by hand with trying to increase output from there and still have top quality control. Or i wouldnt think anyway...
PSA grades have been inaccurate and is based on what the graders feel. As a sports card investor, instead of using other card companies, I use AGS. The robots grade the card accurately and precisely. In addition to, AGS robot allows the cards to be graded quickly unlike human graders and they have fair and fair prices. I have been using them for quite some time now and I hope that you do too!
how about european grading companies? will cards graded by them rise up in value over the time? GSG from germany has a pretty tight grading procedure and is well known (... and feared) for it. A GSG 9.0 is so hard to get, a 10 ... is a real 10.
Curious if anyone has any advice in why wouldn’t Kevin Durant first USA olympics 2012 Prizm #2 card isn’t worth more or in higher demand with such low pop and he’s all time leading Olympic scorer? Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated
Funny that you mentioned the holder, I think he was saying that because that’s what separates them from the “old school grading companies “ I just submitted 10 cards to “Pure Graded X” for their slabs alone. I think all of the grading companies, new and established, have tuff standards the market is just getting more competitive. Of course this is just my opinion. I love your channel by the way.
You don't need grading when you know your sellers well and they have good reputation. And it makes no sense it worth 5-6 times the price of ungraded when the card is the exact same and you paid 30 bucks to grade it. Card market is ridiculous since the last 2 years and grading got overrated. And how can you take seriously the grading process when the company has to deal with 40K cards a day. PSA (Collector Universe) always been a big joke. No inner sleeve, cheap wavy labels with poor design, thin case, no sub grade. BGS and SGC all the way even if it does not worth the pain submitting.
i have a 86 fleer MJ ...bought it in early 90"s...i want to get it graded...looks like a true 10, no BS...how would you handle such a card ?..i'm hesitant to put it in any mail system ...
If you truly believe it is in great condition , I would travel to the grading company physical location. First thing you do is contact the grading company then let them know what you got and find out if you are able to setup an appointment to drop the card off physically.
I don’t trust the grading companies themselves! How can we be sure we’re even getting the same card back? I had a card come back with a creased corner and it was PERFECT when sent in! Is there some sort of grading school or college degree for this industry. Shady, shady, SHADY!
question. wouldnt the populations of cards drive the values down? i mean they are still graded. but wouldnt the volume dilute the value? laws of economics
We need to be aware these grading services are in it as a business there might be a reason to grade inconsistently for certain cards. We are giving these grading companies a lot of power. I have seen over and over rare cards get easier psa 10 but common cards get psa 9 Grading changes per card volume
Post- shutdown at PSA, Ive found CSG to be a great alternative in terms of grading accuracy. Ultra clear holders are a nice touch. Resale value leaves a lot to be desired, but accuracy is definitely on point.
I agree.. and the parent company has a great name & track record in other areas of grading. I think over the next 5 years they will grow massively in popularity!
@@hawaiiactionfigureguy4847 I agree, but I do have to say their labels look terrible! If SGC and CSG changed their labels they would be fun fine. They both grade very strict but fair and have a decent reputation!
It makes no sense to submit to PSA period. If you send them in a 10 and get a 7, and that happens all the time. PSA is not good at grading, they are now grading 40,000 cards a week? Ha ha ha ha, the worst grading company is getting worse!!! Why there is a premium on PSA 10 is beyond me, I have a video on what poor cards you can get in a PSA 10 slab. I could do one a day. because they just suck at grading, so you guys buying PSA 10's are paying a premium for a worse card in many cases, than another companies 9, 8, or 7!
@Alice Mitchell Yeah, My first investment with Mr Patrick Smith he earned me profit of over $25,530 US dollars, and ever since then he has been delivering
Every comment on here is from a bot who joined less than a week ago... Why doesn't @sportscardinvestor simply block the term Patrick Smith so these stupid bots can't get a post through. Better yet just block the term crypto all together. Obnoxious Ponzi schemes are ruining every comment section on YT.
Without any doubt, SGC IS THE MOST CONSISTENT GRADING COMPANY IN THE MARKET! Since day one, they are spot on with there 10's and PSA is all over the place, especially there old labels! Some old psa 10's wouldn't grade out a 9 with SGC .Facts! My investment graded cards will now only be SGC!!

Yeah, some of these companies are not organized well. PSA has been way too inconsistent with their grading. As a sports card investor, I suggest you use AGS. AGS uses robots to grade the cards very quickly. Also, AGS has AI that grades the cards without bias and they have legitimate and rational prices. I really suggest you try them out as they are the new wave of the future!
PSA has been way too inconsistent with their grading. I have been investing in sports cards for quite some time and I suggest you use AGS. There is never a delay with the grading, at most taking a month. Furthermore, their robots are unbiased and grade without human emotion and AGS offers logical and reasonable prices. I have been using them for quite some time now and I hope that you do too!
I have been collecting cards sense 1988 . I believe BGS will become better then PSA for these reasons PSA has become very greedy now over charges . Say you have a card that is valued at $5000 or more now you will have to pay almost $1000 for grading because the value of card . And PSA customer service has been horrible lately .
SGC HAS EXPLODED!They have always been the most consistent from the beginning. I've seen PSA 10's that would rate out at an easy 9 at SGC. I am all in on SGC now for high grade investment.

My most recent submission took about 13 days to get back to me on the $150 express service. They received 11/03 and they got delivered 11/16. Has anyone else experienced fast turnarounds like this?
PSA has been way too inconsistent with their grading. Investing in sports cards myself, I recommend those who are in investing to use AGS. It is true tho lol, I will not buy anything other than PSA or BGS. I don’t want sgc or any of that other crap. I Just don’t like the look of the Slabs tbh and that’s it plain and simple
PSA brings in the "premium price," but I feel like BGS and SCG have more consistent grading. PSA can be frustrating and all over the place. I personally feel that SCG is the harshest grader, so for me a SCG 10 is the closest to "perfect" that card could be. However, I think that BGS has the best looking slabs. I wish more people realize that a BGS 9.5 is the equivalent of PSA 10. For me BGS/SGC for my personal, and PSA if I plan to unload it at some point.
This whole Sport's Card grading deal is ruining the industry because it's costing way to much to have it done! I have collected sports cards for almost 45 years and the only graded card's I have are one's I have bought graded! Evey card I have and I have a lot have come straight out of a package and straight to protective holders and NO ONE HAS EVER TOUCHED THEM BUT ME!
Been in this 40 years, TAG will be big, we've all seen PSA 10's that should not be, seen 8's that should be higher, it's the problem with human grading, and , also with some suggesting big cards not getting 10's to protect the few who own it, with AI grading it doesn't care how many 10's already exist

They damaged a $500 card of mine and gave it the sub grade it should've received... I wouldn't trust them at all. My 1997-97 Metal Universe MJ had a pristine corner, now it is completely bent and fucked up.
Love the information you give us Geoff! Was wondering if you could give us a video on your thoughts on Mac Jones and the parabolic rise on his graded cards 🍻
Have you guys head of AGS card grading? Apparently their AI grading is faster and less biased than PSA, which might be pretty good considering how long PSA turnaround is.
Do you think sportscard market is getting destroyed as more people move to NFTs? Sports card is not as liquid, storage fees, volatile, able to forge, scratches on psa Slabs, loose PSA case, etc. NFTs don’t have any of that… people are staring to realise how easy it is to play NFT
I started with BGS and absolutely love the gold labels. I will be an all time fan of their. However, I feels like the demand for grading will open up new opportunities for other company. Just hope their integrity is as great or greater than BGS & PSA. If not, it could discourage a lot of investors from investing if investors start loosing money based on integrity. We need to continue growing positively and make history. This could be the start of history . Hopefully everyone keeps up the Integrity. So this generation that we’re all apart of could indeed become apart of history.
@@justcharlie818 The fees are definitely going up and are getting out of control. Nice to know there are still affordable options out there to grade cards.
At what point (if any) will these guys acknowdege other non-designer card grading companies? I recently returned to card collecting after 30 years and it has become a job not a hobby to enjoy. I can't afford to send my cards to PSA, BGS, SGA or HGA. I have sent a set of 10 cards to GMA with their new labeling and I was generally pleased with the grading and turn around time. I will never send cards to PSA, I would rather use that money to invest in my kids college education.
Hey do you have a deal with PSA Bulk shipping or just what's on PSA sight? Have 100s need graded but can't afford at once being on disability but not worth using other companies in my opinion.
I’m newer to all this. Can anyone give me a low down WCG. Are they a joke? I got a few cards that are 10a from them. Seems like they almost might be worth more to remove them from the cases and get them regraded by a more respectable company? Thoughts??
This is an eye opener to the market gap... meaning just leave PSA ALONE AND OPEN OUR OWN GRADING COMPANY! THEN set up the membership pro grading services for your company at a certain price range... PSA will never be able to do enough... that is because more cards are always gunna be getting graded and they will never catch up and its not worth it to grade PSA
I have 4,650 cards that have been sleeved for 40-45 yrs.I need to win the lottery to afford grading.Tons of rare rookies.Think what they will be worth in 20 yrs.lolol.
As of today I would say yes, but it also depends on wether your grading sports cards or non sports cards…PSA is the gold standard in the sports card grading companies, and will get you top dollar, and more often higher sales prices vs the other companies…PSA is expensive, but you get what you pay for, and if your cards are of solid value according to your research, and in the best condition as far as you can tell, then you should be willing to pay the extra money for a hopeful PSA 10…The hardcore investors know that a PSG 9 is equivalent to another grading companies 9.5 or 10, so a PSG 10 and 9 will certainly carry its weight in value verse all the other companies…PSA #1, Beckett, or BGS #2, SGC #3 are my rankings in the grading companies from my experience and research…I have 30 years of experience in card collecting, but not nearly as much experience in the grading game, so this is just my own personal opinion, nothing more…My advice, your best cards in the best condition, spend the money on PSA…Weigh in on the current market trends for that card/player, but don’t necessarily let that be the deciding factor, as one thing is for sure with this market is that current players can always increase or decrease in value dramatically from one season to the next…cards that may have decent value and in great condition, maybe you believe they will increase in value in the future, or you decide to grade during a down year for the player, maybe consider BGS or SGC etc…And if you have a card that might be off center or a mild ding in the corner I would go with BGS or SGC, as well as the thicker memorabilia cards like they suggest in this video…hope this helps!
Hi guys! Why you don’t expand market movers for Canadian especially for hockey card and make like a canadian market movers version that promote the 3 grading company KSA, MNT, ACA. Because the way i see, there will be a balance between all the “good” and “worthy” grading company. Anyway that just my opinion. 😎
Graded cards ruined the hobby imo, most current cards are going 2 grade a 8 at minimum, but every1 wants there get there base rookie card that's worth 10 bucks to get a graded 10 so they can sell it for it 300
If the PSA survey i took a couple weeks ago is an indicator, they are working at a 30 dollar standard for the cheap people, like me!! Not Everyone can get any high end cards. My idea of high end is so different than the big boys.
I've watched countless vids with psa returns and I've seen nothing but random crap even poke rev did a packet of pokemon upgraded to a new style case the packet was a 10 but they folded the seals to fit inside the packaging when they upgraded the case it came back a 10 with crease and fold marks all over it Beckett is the best these guys should be saying Beckett as well I'm about there age and when I was young Beckett even had there own mag at newsagents to check prices and I'm so confused why people send pokemon to professional sports authentication when there a non sports card imagine the poor bloke getting a stack of pokemon working there it's probly why there behind people keep walking yelling no more pokemon
the only problemo with the AI grading is it will grade unfairly based on other things like for example this guy didn't pay his taxes so they will grade down
You guys answer this.. why do you guys only talk the most about PSA? Is it because you guys have invested all your money on PSA? I mean.. not many kids out there can Afford $10k cards and packs Geoff.. it is absurd to make videos with content of unreachable cards and product for all this kids.. com’on all companies have proffessionals and are good at what they do..
Which is why you can't listen to all the content creators - most of them only tout PSA. You guys "have to do you". Do what makes sense for you. Me? I LOVE LOVE LOVE HGA. I've sent them 250 cards...and counting....no issues, great label, great slab, consistent grades (they grade hard), quick turnaround, and cheaper than everyone else. Sure, they take a little longer to sell than a PSA slab, but the younger crowd gravitates towards these and they do eventually move - and they are affordable to grade with and affordable to buy in person. And while we're on the topic, let's all not argue over who's best, I say use who you want. I think having all these companies out there...and choices....is good for the hobby. There does not need to be just 1 grading company that rules the roost.
@@daniellarsen889 I dunno if I'd go that far. He's entitled to give his opinion. We just don't have to agree with it. Wink. Like I said, make your own choices people. His statement is based on the risk in the long term viability of the newer grading companies. They have an uphill battle to climb and if ever BGS or PSA come back to under $40, it becomes "oh crap time" for them. The other thing ppl have to watch out for is someone buying up HGA. If they become pesky enough to the bigger dogs, the bigger dogs may offer money to go away or engulf their resources/technology. I don't see PSA doing it. But BGS or SGC are dumb if they don't at least think about it. Hmmm....If that were to happen you have a little more respect/reputation/authenticity in the slab AND snazzy labels together? Ok, I'm in for something like that. I'm not sure HGA would ever sell, but everyone has a price. And SGC and BGS need to make a move to keep up with PSA. Like I said, they are crazy to not have at least talked about it.
Old Bulk pricing will end up being their offering for registry cards. They’re bottom line pricing probably won’t be any better than $50/card by next year.
love the show but man i felt like you overtalked the guest hardcore here Geoff. i would love to get to hear his perspective a bit more rather than what felt like a drawn out intro, great info from both of ya tho

I recently submitted cards to PSA and after about 1 month I received a random call form someone saying they just received my cards in the mail. When looking at the PSA website it shows it still in a grading process. I ask the random individual to send me a picture of the cards and they where indeed my cards with all my info on it. I called PSA and tell me they investigating it but really no responses. Has anyone felt with this before?
My only experience them “losing” my card for 2 years! What happened with your cards? Did the random person end up sending them back to you?!? If so you really really lucked out with an honest individual. Much respect to them for even calling you
Csg is a complete resale disaster. Sgc is still to expensive even at 30$. Hga will pass sgc in resale within the next 3 years. Psa resale is completely ridiculous at the moment. It’s all a big horse and pony show.
