„ISO 14000, party on!“ 😂 Really enjoyed the video and learned a lot by hearing how you look at an image.

Always great to listen to your critiques. As a media sports photographer myself, I tend to edit the majority of submitted shots cropped in the horizontal plane rather than in portrait. Newspaper spreads of two or more columns need horizontal art and horizontals are almost a must-have for the web news. Portrait edits are great for short single-column editorials. Just about all of your crops in this video were cut in the portrait or vertical mode, which is great for framing small personalized photos on the fireplace mantle or work desk. Much depends on the background of the image-does it help to tell the story?

I find I prefer portrait for some reason, I've got to force myself to shoot and edit in landscape.

Indeed, all sports photography outlets prefer a 3:2 ratio so some of Peter’s crop suggestions just wouldn’t be possible.

Tom Minton which of the rugby shots were yours?

@@BruceLeroyUK the one with the guy sticking his tongue out, the one with the hills with houses on them in the background and the wide horizontal one - if that makes any sense 😆

I love this so much! I want to do sports photography as I love taking photos of action, but thanks to Covid there isn't much sports going on in my area! But these are excellent tips and critiques and makes me want to go take more photos :)

Love to learn, this is interesting to watch. And here comes the but, image size of my camera is 6240x4160. If I do not get the crop almost right from the beginning, there is no chance I can crop the pictures in post that much, is there? I mean there will be no pixels left… At least if anyone would like to make a print out of it. Are you thinking of pictures for media when you crop that hard or is it to show me, that I need to nail it better from the beginning:)?
