Question. I just bought the fast Eddie xl with the triple stack. The l spacer and bracket you’re showing at the beginning I guess spot Hogg redesigned it because mine does NOT look like that at all and I can’t adjust it

@KristenErwin-x6r hey there! It's definitely possible that they redesigned it since I made this video. I haven't looked at that newer one so I'm not sure. Thanks for watching!

I'm new to compound bows and had a shop put my bow together. I was going mad trying to figure out why I couldn't adjust far enough left to get on target. Your tip with the mounting block (which was crazy obvious in hindsight!) put me right back in the middle of my windage. Thank you!!

Thank you for sharing very informative 👍I'm a novice archer and your content is consistently helpful! I'm in the process of mounting a regular Fast Eddie Double pin and I'm hoping you can help in regards to moving the mounted position of the housing on the vertical rail. You mentioned that you'd be moving your housing down a notch to increase overall shooting distance of the sight/bow. Well, my issue is that if I move it down, then when I nock an arrow and test clearances, the sight housing contacts the arrow shaft when the wheel is spun and the housing is at its lowest point of travel on the vertical rail. Do you follow..am I making sense? I think I need to raise the housing mount location a couple notches up to allow arrow clearance but I then reduce the overall distance capability of the sight and bow. Any way around this? For reference - New from packaging in its factory settings, the arrow made contact with the housing's larger MRT ring when wheel is spun to the lowest travel point. If I keep the housing at its factory setting on rail and use the smaller MRT ring is just clears the arrow at its lowest point. I'd prefer to use the larger MRT ring if possible although I don't want to sacrifice too much shooting distance capability of the sight/bow. Thank you for making the time to read thru this essay. Your time and expertise are much appreciated! Mike in Canada 🇨🇦

@BackwoodsPursuit 3 года назад
Thanks for the question and for watching! You are on the right track and moving the housing up will be just fine. You really won't sacrifice any shooting distance as, really, moving your housing up is only going to affect where on the vertical slide the housing sit. You will loose clearance at the same spot regardless of where the housing sits. So, maximize where you put the tape, and you'll be fine. If you are wanting more clearance and longer range than your current setup gives you, a lighter arrow and/or faster bow, or more poundage (if possible) will help get more distance, but obviously you'll lose other valuable penetration and momentum properties when you go too light on the arrow setup. Hope that helps!

@@BackwoodsPursuit one follow up question...is it normal for the riser to partially block the sight ring? Hoyt Axius Alpha / Fast Eddie Double pin. The arrow's center in rest is at 13/16" off the Berger hole. Even with the smaller MRT sight ring, it is partially blocked by riser. Something to be done or learn to live with it? Many thanks!

@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 2 года назад
Hey there Brian! Man, that totally depends on the bow. Finding a flat sit can be a challenge on some of these risers, but the Hamske 3rd axis level will give you the best shot of making that work. You could also clamp a flat piece of sheet metal or cardboard on there and try making a flat spot that way. Best of luck!

Great video man dumbed it down for me to understand! Don’t have a bow vise got a brite site to do it. I was wondering what about the 1st axis ?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 2 года назад
Thanks! Glad it was helpful. The true 1st axis is typically all set from the factory, but there is an Allen screw out by the housing to adjust that if needed. If you mount the sight to the riser holes, your 1st axis should be good, but always good to check. Some companies refer to the vertical slide adjustment as the 1st axis though in their instructions, so it can be confusing.

I'm having the same issue with my triple stack as mike from Canada mentioned. I have the spot Hogg triple stack same setup as your video housing is just the same I have the small housing MRT ring and I'm shooting a way lighter arrow than last year 525gn-287fps arrow to now roughly 490grn- (idk) fps. Pulling 75lbs, and having trouble after sighting in. Sighted my bow in at 60yards and decided why not roll it down to see what she can do. Couldn't get bottom pin anywhere close 90yards stopped at 80ish yards on sight tape. Keep on mind my housing on the vertical slide is the same as in your video almost to it's lowest setting. What should I do? Have any recommendations?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 2 года назад
Man that's a bummer! You could mess with moving the housing, but as far as the sight goes, not a lot else you can do there unless your bow has a second set of mounting screw holes. Sorry!

Are the spot hog sights modular in the way that the sight housings are interchangeable? For example: if I buy the 3 pin slider can I later swap out the sight housing (only) for the single pin housing?

Great vid just bought this sight and this video explains perfectly how to set it up. From talking to a few different people they usually put their scope as high as it can go on the vertical slide to get maximum range, but you mentioned you like putting it at the bottom, what’s the difference between putting it up at the top vs the bottom?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 4 года назад
Thanks Gabe and thanks for watching! There's certainly not "right" or "wrong" way in regards to where you put it on the vertical slide, but putting it lower worked well for me. I can still shoot well past 100yds set up that way, and it allows me to also dial in to exact shorter yardage if needed(use the bottom floater pin for, say a 37yd shot with a tight window). Do what works best for you though! It all depends on your bow set for sure. Thanks again!

So maybe I missed it but is there no adjustment on the 1st axis? I watched the video and never saw any specific 1st axis attention other than just leveling the bow? Am I missing it?
@BackwoodsPursuit
@BackwoodsPursuit 4 года назад
Thanks for watching and that's a great question! The 1st axis really is just the sight (and mounting bracket) being level to the riser. So, unless you've put a shim between the riser and the mounting bracket, there really isn't any 1st axis adjustment (on this or any other sight that I'm aware of). Just level the riser and put the mounting bracket on and the 1st axis should be good. Most sights only have 2nd and/or 3rd axis adjustments, but the 2nd axis adjustment is commonly mistaken for the 1st axis.
