All of the frustration and hard work put in to this movie really paid off! The absolute GOAT of shark movies. The shark was more realistic than any CG crap today. 👍🏻✌🏻💙

I was part of that Dallas audience!!! I was 8 years old at the time! My mom screamed so loud my ears rang all night! I laughed every time she screamed. 🤣🤣🤣

How old were you? My 6th grade classmates raved over it, so... I finally persuaded my dad to take me to it months after it's original release date.

@b2vo4pt3t Ok, User, so I made a small mistake and didn't re-read that you were 8 years old. Jeebus! And you call me out. Why, User? We coulda had a fun conversation but you choose to be a douchebag and I'm called you out. "Pay attention" to the meaning of that.

Just watched this masterpiece again with my wife who had never seen it before and got some good screams in all the right places, well, except for when the shark comes right up and eats Quint as it just looks too animatronic, especially in high definition on a big screen (god knows how they got the image so good for the newer releases, very clever). I'd forgotten, or hadn't realized how perfect the movie was, all the way through. Thanks for the upload, very interesting. 😊

turn off motion interpolation, or motion smoothing, will look much better, the whole movie in fact.

When I was a kid in Western Australia and the movie was released the beaches became empty. The 70’s was a great era, this was the only violence I was subjected to.

It's funny that Roy Scheider himself gets the line wrong. It's not we're gonna need a bigger boat it's you're gonna need a bigger boat. And Roy Scheider himself actually corrected Carl gottlieb. Roy talked in a news article about how yes he did improvise on the set and some of it made it into the movie but that line was in the script the whole time. Carl had been incorrectly stating for years that it was improvised until Roy Scheider said no it was not. It was in the script. You can hear Carl talked about it in an interview from Jaws fest 2005 with Carl gottlieb and Peter benchley. It's available on RU-vid and it's within the first fifteen minutes or so of the interview you will see that the bigger boat line was not in fact improvised

I'd like to think so... the line is so perfect (whether "we're" or "you're," no matter) that it just had to be written - a no-brainer Brody quip. What else could he have said?

Well they pulled it off. The greatest movie of all time. #2 would be the deep. Kind of movies you can watch over just to hear the great lines and see the little things like slightly slipping in the gunnels of the orca.

The Deep! A great thriller. Katherine Bach? Was that the bombshell? And that outboard motor fighting scene with the bald villain - had me on the rivet!

Eh, I wouldn't say the deleted scene with the guy in the sharks mouth carrying the kid was "too violent" or "too bloody". It just looked stupid and doesn't make any sense. I'm glad they didn't include it.

i think it was a good cut, im glad i got to see it though, i just love watching deleted material, it really gives me an idea where they were trying to go, sometimes. Most often they cut em just for time , keeping the movies under 2 hours, which is considered a death sentence if you go over evidentally lol, thanks for watching !

Omg- this movie scared the hell out of me!- I had never been in the ocean... but late nite fishing in a murky river was already scary- then,I went to see jaws..... wow!- no lie,I wouldn't swim in my uncles clear swimming pool w an underwater light in the pool ,at nite. I couldn't even close my eyes and go underwater in my own bathtub.!- Literalĺy - to this day, the most terrified I've ever been ... freddy, and Jason didn't have nothing on JAWS- EXCELLENT MOVIE,- SCARIEST . GO SEE JAWS AND LET A FRIEND DROP YOU OFF IN A FRESHWATER LAKE - ALLS YOU HEAR IS DARUM DARUM.. DARUM DARUM DARUM- UNBELIEVABLE- FROM SCENE WHERE SHARK COMES UP UNDER THE GIRL SWIMMING AT NITE AND SHARK POPS HER DOWN LIKE A CORK! SOMETHING SCARY BOUT SHARKS ANYWAY,- AND JAWS WAS A SUPERVILLAN SHARK... - & AQUAMAN WOULD BE LUNCH!

What strikes me most about this is that some of the really great movies were made in the face of huge technical challenges. Challenges which can be solved easily these days with computers and better technology. Yet still the movie industry turns out a regulation load of crap every year. Directors are lazy, screenwriters are lazy, cinematographers are lazy. The industry needs to pull its collective finger out and up its game

Jaws is the definitive shark movie. No need for sequels which are all utterly terrible.
