Saw these guys in Dallas, they were breathtaking. They opened for Melvins and came back and joined them onstage to play Hung Bunny/Roman Dog Bird. It was beyond incredible.
That 3rd track 'The Grower' is a absolute banger. Whole wave of emotions with that song. Kind of a weird sludgey intro that almost builds into a crescendo. That guitar that comes in at 13:06 😮🫠. Then the soft affirmations. I first heard it and was blown away.
'The Grower' is a fucking absolute banger. My God, talk about a masterpiece. "NOW GIVE ME A BEE-YOTCH, AND I THINK YOU GOT IT!" Give me your ride right now punk or I will dust your ass!!
Saw these guys/girl last night in Toronto, and I loved it. Reminded me of early Smashing Pumpkins mixed with new Deftones, but they also have their own thing going on musically as well.
Just saw Spotlights last night at the Milestone Club in Charlotte where they opened for If Trees Could Talk. Unbelievable music they put out for a three piece band. So much talent, depth and just plain art. They went straight to the top of my list. Please come back soon, you guys ROCK!!!
Everyone should support this band if you are here. I seen them on tour with the Deftones & forgot all about them until I was looking through old concert tickets. Spotlights should've gotten bigger....
Saw them at The International Centre (Mississauga / Toronto), Aug. 13, 2016 where they opened for Refused and Deftones. They matched both bands in terms of musicianship - no question. Spotlights - no pretense, honest music making, restrained showmanship, very meaningful. Honestly, they put Refused to shame. Refused - pretentious, ostentatious, they came across as being a parody, actually embarrassing to witness. Deftones - masterful, of course. The perfect bill would've been Spotlights and Deftones. Gotta see them again!
Totally agree with you 100%. I hope these guys eventually see the light of day. They were great live with Deftones. Didn't like Refused to be honest, I thought the singer was annoying.
Excited to see this band live.... there are paths this album takes you on that I didn't expect - and it's nice to get turned where you don't expect when you listen to music... it's what makes it beautiful
they are LOUD as fuck. Really good though. Never heard of them till I saw Pallbearer in Syracuse and again on Long Island. Listen to them all the time now. I was lucky enough to see them and Pallbearer twice in one week :)
I have to agree. Castor sounded really good. Hum, while one of my favorite bands ever...well it was not their best show I have ever seen. Spotlights just has a massive sound and they are really super nice people.
Thanks for the post. I am glad to have caught your act here in Edmonton July 17,2017 at The Union Hall. Have you thought about brining in a drummer into your group? I hope to see you guys soon.
Damn. I had hoped to catch them but the trip from Toronto to Mississauga took forever and I missed their entire set. Hopefully they'll be back soon for their own show in Toronto proper.
I told them that when I seen them play with the deftones and they smiled so hard, chino watched them play there whole set and was digging it the whole time.
