Hey DIY friends!
Now the time has come to do something about my ugly bathroom vanity countertop and luckily I have a few options on hand. I chose to try two different kinds of spray paints on my countertop based on other people's attempts I viewed to know which would be best for my half bath.
Prepping your countertop is key before painting, but I also give a tip on using another product beforehand that will possibly keep my countertop looking amazing for the long haul.

@@ShanettaDIYLife I did it BUT for me it was too messy with the paint settling in the air. I think I'll get the one they have for countertops that you paint on with a roller from the same company and just roll it on. ☺️ Less prep less mess. ☺️

T. Myers I already use mine. Finished came out smooth very beautiful but the worst part is a lot of overspray so be careful .i cover the to the top of walls to the floors and everything had overspray . The problem I had there was dust particles that got stuck even that I made sure to dust before but using a big fan to get out the strong smell the fan is what pick up the dust. I would recommend not using the fan but in a bathroom that u can use Not use for a couple of hours then turn on the fan when is semi dry so the dust can stick

I just did my bathroom countertop today with the appliance epoxy and idk what happened but mine ended up drying with texture. I made sure to sand it beforehand and cleaned it very well. Im a little disappointed because I wanted the mirror shine finish but im ok with what I got. And yes make sure to ventilate and cover everything especially the floors. The spray gets everywhere!!!

What is your opinion about this like any painted surface if you go ahead and sand the surface first going from a course to a somewhat finer grit sanding the complete cleaning alcohol wipe down then application of a primer two or three coats. Preferably a sandable primer and then the application of your coats of paint. Then some clear coat or sealer followed by a fine sanding I think the finish was kind of matted because the surface wasn't smooth during the application I'm just thinking.
@ShanettaDIYLife
@ShanettaDIYLife 3 года назад
The first sink surface was matte due to the product as I mentioned I contacted the manufacturer due to reading many reviews and everyone received the same results. In my case, some areas were smooth and others were matte. I still purchased the Krylon tub and tile thinking that the people commenting didn't do enough prep, but nope it wasn't the people it was the product itself.

I'm going to go with the epoxy spray I'll get it before and after picture and let you how everything went
@ladyshrink22222
@ladyshrink22222 2 года назад
You don’t want to or need to use a top coat. Epoxy paint seals itself. Any top coat WILL yellow pretty quickly. You do need to sand before you apply the epoxy paint. And then clean with acetone before painting. You can re-coat within 12 hours or if not possible, you have to wait a week to re-coat.

Thank you! I just redid my bathroom using the rustoleum spray you used. However, I did this before I watched your video and didn't put a primer on it first. I did everything else you did though. How long did you wait to do the scratch test on it? I'm at a little over 24hrs and it seems to still be curing.
@ShanettaDIYLife
@ShanettaDIYLife 3 года назад
I waited a little over 24hrs, but it will cure more and more each day. I personally always apply a primer, but I've seen some people not use a primer and still have success.

@@Pigeonee I just did mine and got so many droplets from the can. It almost looked like water droplets. Trying to figure out what to do
@ShanettaDIYLife
@ShanettaDIYLife 2 года назад
This happens when the nozzle isn't wiped off. Here is my suggestion.. you can allow the entire area to dry and then sand lightly, wipe dust off, spray the droplet section multiple times (light sprays - while allowing each coat to dry to the touch) to level out that droplet section.
@claytonmoses5686
@claytonmoses5686 Год назад
When it comes to all sprays and roll on paints, it always comes down to how many coats you apply.
@ShanettaDIYLife
@ShanettaDIYLife Год назад
I half agree because if the products quality is subpar you'll need to apply multiple coats definitely vs if you want to. I've used consumer grade and commercial grade products and multiple coats doesn't always matter if the quality is on point.

Did you end up sanding the rustoleum? I did mine yesterday and While it does look good from angles there are spots I hate. I would like to to be smoother.
@ShanettaDIYLife
@ShanettaDIYLife 4 года назад
My appliance epoxy came out without flaw. I would suggest waiting for it to dry 24 hours. Then apply another coat over areas you have an issue. This allows the 1st coat to dry enough so when you add a second coat it will not take as long for the 1st coat to cure underneath.
@GerardoGarcia-tb7gi
@GerardoGarcia-tb7gi 3 года назад
Anytime you have to spray something you should always sand the area then primer it the primer will fill any imperfections and then apply the paint with some distance an not to heavy so you don't get any runs.

This was excellent!!!!! Do you think this would work on kitchen countertops?
@ShanettaDIYLife
@ShanettaDIYLife 4 года назад
Thanks so much! I don't see why not. The trick is prep prep prep. As long as the surface you intend to paint is able to bind with the spray paint you should be fine. I would apply some poly on the surface of your countertops as they will get more alot of use and exposure to different things that could potentially ruin the finish. Hope that helps.
