How will spray painting my $1,000 Honda Accord EX Coupe turn out? The answer is a resounding "not bad," at least it's all one color and I was able to level quite a bit of it out. A little sanding and high build primer really helped clean up the lip. After quickly priming we moved to painting with some factory color match paint O'Reillys mixed up that morning. I ended up stopping at about 3 coats with good coverage and uniform color. The plan included swapping the window regulator but we're dealing with daily thunderstorms at the moment, I don't want to be caught in a thunderstorm with nothing to support the window!

To fix a crack in a plastic bumper I take a heat gun and zip tie and use the zip tie basically like solder and melt it into the crack, works every time

An Idea I got from someone else is a little carbon fiber or black grip tape along the wheel wells and bumper lips cover up rust and paint imperfections and looks like a nice rock guard setup. Really can sharpen up a used car.

I did the exact same thing to my car with gloss black paint and then clear coat for my front bumper. Came out really nice and covered all damage/scratches. Good thing about it the only place the paintwork was needed was on the lip/flares on my bumper so it blended in nicely with the lines. Hope the storm was too bad though im a weather fanatic so whenever I hear a big storm is coming I hope that its true and I watch it, even though at the same time I worry for my car getting damaged. Not a good combo loving cars and weather!

FYI: PaintScratch can provide spray cans of your exact color code if you have a few days. Always hit the finished color with clearcoat several times and then sand with 1500, 2000, 3000 and polish. It will look professional.

Not bad results considering you were using spray cans. Before you started, the car looked bad from blocks away, the black plastic stuck out like a sore thumb. Now the car looks great until you get very close to it and I am sure, still much better than it did when you do. Nice Job JR!!! Just a little tip, after you've prepped the surface, be careful not to touch it. We all have oils in our skin and that can cause problems with the paint after it's applied. If you do touch it, prep it with the alcohol again.

Yup, the Volt costs me about $1.50 a day in electricity or $4.50 a day including the power/loan/insurance. About the price of a 1.5 gallons of gas. 🍻

One trick is use some paper and fold it back to it's self making it still curved a few inches away from where you painting and it helps it blend alot better

I got a similar accord with similar scuffs, experimented with painting only the damaged areas, hard edge, soft edge, up to a body line, nothing works, you gotta do the whole part even if you only got a couple inch scuff on one end of your bumper you must paint the whole thing, and even then you have to worry if color matches properly, though my paint supply guy did a great job and it does. But really what defines if the repair was successful is your tolerance to imperfection in some cases you don't care if it's all different colors like a janky drift missile, other times you are worried that it's anything else than the original

My previously discussed Lynx XR3 had scuffed and faded bumpers and trim. Granted, it was a semi-flat dark gray, the end result after sanding and a couple of cans of spray bomb were night and day. Hack job paint is great at 10 feet.

Primer is porous, so rust will come back threw primer after a while. Also painting the plastic bumpers, you need to use a flex agent in the paint, or it will peel off in no time... Guess your just doing a quickie for resale, but it won't last. It looks good in the video. I hope you don't get a tornado, but you are kinda in tornado alley.

Looks nice now, you've not done such a bad job it for a DIY job. Older cheaper cars are just not that viable for professional work, unless you have a really exceptionally good professional friend lol. I actually saw my first one of these in the flesh here in the UK a few days ago, and there's not a lot of them for sale here either, so don't think it was a big seller here.

Some compound and an air tool you probably can blend the paint/remove some of the imperfections in new paint. Looks good otherwise.

Did you try waxing the inside and outside of the window before getting a new window regulator? Or was it damaged badly? Also, I've been able to remove a broken strand of the cable before buying a new unit... Just thoughts.

Get a can of Master Pro adhesion promoter from O’Reillys and put a light coat on the bare plastic before any other coatings. On second thought after completely watching the video, leave the painting to the professionals. lol

I won the same car and I just got to say they look WAY better with profile tires on it bud. Don't sell it. HODL like Doge for 20 years and it'll be worth so much. These cars are not only reliable but sexy AF, so long as you have profile tires on it. Makes the biggest difference.

bruh, your supposed to sand after high build primer... work up through the grits to 4-800 grit before even trying to shoot base color. you can get good results with rattlecans, but it takes the same prep as actual body shop paint.
