If you know how to prep the door you don’t have to take it off. You always take the weather stripping off mask off the and never close the door to spray it.
@roberthoustan7476 😂 that was my comment... but yeah, wasted time. Remove the door and place a curtain on the back to spray nice easy and faster than cover the house like this.
When you remove the weather strip it leaves a 1/2”-3/4” gap. So if you tape off the inside of the door jam and cover the gap from the inside of the home you can spray the entire door front without needing to remove the door 🤘
@@moosepainting I’ve never seen that work, so video please. Also what about the four edges of the door? To me this is the house version of s Maaco $500 auto re-paint.
@@HBSuccess He literally explained it. Remove the weather trip from the inside of the frame, it leaves a gap. Then tape off the interior molding and exterior brick molding... and spray.
It’s definitely quicker but not if your gonna have to come back later and retape the painted part so you can then paint the white edge he didnt paint yet and depending on the paint it may flash
Great video. What type of paint do you use? Im currently using a base coat paint with a small amount of hardner in it for my cupboard, doors ect. Thanks
@@philipalvarez2561you’re right. It should only take you 45 seconds to mask off a door and an additional 90 seconds to extend 3 feet out to protect for overspray.
Ridiculous as a painter I do this all the time. Wait 30 minutes pull the paper plastic walk away and let the door dry instead of having to let it sit there on the sawhorses for a few hours as their front doors wide open
Umm NO !! Even if weather strip is pulled you still have the paint on the interior of the jamb…. Even IF he masked that there is still the one leg of the door that is not painted when door is opened. THIS IS CLOWN painting and if you think this is correct then your a clown too
Here this job would be simply inacceptable: what about lateral hidden corners? But moreover, have you scratched all the surfaces with fine grit sandpaper?
Is that a 211 tip? I was really surprised how close you were to the door while spraying. Also, by removing the weather stripping you’re able to coat the entire face of the door? I’ve never seen it done this way. Cheers.
The weather strip is pulled out and it leaves a half inch gap where the paint can go in. Tape the cracks from the inside so you don’t get any over spray
Man, these comments are wildly confused about how easy this is. It would take no time to tape this off, set up the sprayer(if it's not already setup), and have a nice coat of paint on this and be done. Besides prep, this would take an hour w/experience. Also, removing the weatherstripping is all you need in order to paint to the edge.
That door will dry with stroke marks lol! You need to do better. You missed horizontal top to bottom to make sure enough paint was there and smooth finish.
Ehh one coat. Same as my builder did to my house. Just give it one good thin coat and let it ride so the homeowner gets to take care of it after the warranty is over.
Jeez champ, you normally have to hold your gun that close for an even coat?? Id be surprised if you didnt have any runs form on that door. I know low pressure spraying is becoming a thing now though 😄 just seems risky to me
Lol so much prep to paint a door that can never be touched up with nothing other than a sprayer. Way to eff up. Paint with the grain leaving a perfect door that can touch up. I would spray my first coat tho, it have to be more than 5 doors to make it worth the prep. But I'd finish coat with a brush so it can touch up in the future
