i must admit this is probably the best youtube video i have ever watched, i’ve been a painter for 30 years and even i learned loads

Wow, this video brought back so many memories. A long time ago I worked for a couple of companies that supplied the paint line in automotive plants (temperature monitoring systems, paint line flush chemicals and paint booth chemicals). I spent very long hours at Chrysler, Ford, Volkswagen and Nissan plants. The process is very similar but I could see many improvements in this line. When James asked how did they do it back in the day, I smiled because we had paint robots back in the mid 90's, so it's not that different. Just a factoid that was true back in the day and maybe is true now: The most expensive process within a car assembly line is the paint system, by far.

The painting is the easy part, it is all the Prep and clean environment that will make or brake your paint work. When I paint a Car all over, I spend +40 hours on bodywork +10hours on cleaning, Masking and prepping and just 1.5-3h on actual painting.

Wow! I've worked in the automotive industry for 20 years now, I have seen this process before at other car plants but this was some top drawer technoligy in terms of paint plants. Absolutely fascinating!

I imagine those paint specialists were nearly having heart failure as your drone was flying directly over their precious works of art!! As in, "Please God, don't let the batteries die now!!!".

As a person with that whole hypersensitivity “issue”, lol, this sort of video is explosively interesting to me. There are a lot of little details that haven’t been mentioned such as some clean room type paint set ups like this will even require a type of moisturizer that is also required for employees to use on exposed skin to keep the flaking down to an absolute minimum. It’s amazing how much dust is created from dry skin alone and that plays a role in surface perfection. Such a cool process when you take into account all the circumstances that are considered in it’s process and method design. The knowledge and dedication to perfection is next level! Very cool. 😎

Incredible, and to think that’s just a deep dive on the paint process, take into account all the other processes of involved, design, testing, fabrication, manufacturing to name a few you start go get a real appreciation for the time, effort and costs involved in the automotive industry. Particularly a high end company such as Aston Martin.

Before I started watching this I thought "32 minutes to watch some paint being applied, I'll skip through this in 5-10 minutes" but ended up watching the entire length as that was so interesting and satisfying. Can't wait to hopefully one day see this in person.
