Fun fact in the First hell divers Lore they always intentionally wanted to eradicate all of the bugs, but once they found out when their body fully decomposes, it actually turns into oil then their tune changed, and they decided to start pushing a campaign to basically make a bug farm on plants to harvest the oil

From what I read somewhere else, we exterminated all but one planet of bugs, that planet got turned into a bug farm, then through heavy genetic editing and rapid survival-of-the-fittest-ing they breached containment, took over a bunch of planets, and now helldivers 2

Reminds me of how in Destiny and Destiny 2, player’s constant shenanigans are canon activities for the guardians. They canonically have the ability to create hardlight constructs, and also canonically use it to emote to their friends and enemies alike, as well as, thanks to their immortality, consistently launch themselves off of the top of the tower just because.
