that ring is a keychain, so you can also open it, fitting the spring through it and rotating it... Just like adding or subtracting an actual keychain 😉
There probably is. They have tournaments for everything under the sun. Grocery bagging, eating, chopping wood. You name it there is probably a contest fir it.😃👍🤙
This one was discovered when a puzzle maker was digging through his junk drawer and found a key ring stuck on a spring. The rest as they say is history.😃👍
My problem was they packed one of these it with 24 other disentanglement metal puzzles, and they always have one strict rule: don't bend or use force in any way. I had already figured out it would work if I was allowed to twist it, but I thought it was a forbidden move, so I baffled myself for half an hour trying to figure out a "bendless" way, until I finally gave up and twisted it, removing it in half a second.
I always took this thing everywhere as a fidget toy and gave it as a puzzle/magic trick to anyone that was curious to see what i was holding. It was my brother's and one day i lost it and I'm still sad about it...
That's also a keyring. You can remove it the way you'd take off a key. But your way is indeed easier. Unless that was also a rule you neglected to mention.
Called it!! 🤣 this always happens with my keys when I have springs in my pocket. Took me about a year to figure out that I just had to turn the ring and push it through.
