Did you use the -d parameter? I just tried -d description="whatever" on Linux and it worked fine (added the comment to my pom file). Try again, and let me know what happens.
I tried it again here and for some reason, when I add a space in the `-d description="Rest API"` comment, even though it is in quotes, it returns "curl: (3) URL rejected: Malformed input to a URL function ". But without space it works well. `-d description="API"`. I don't know if I didn't read the documentation well, but I would like to add a more detailed comment.
I just ran this in Ubuntu without any issue. curl start.spring.io/starter.tgz -d dependencies=web -dbaseDir=demo -d bootVersion=3.1.4 -d javaVersion=17 -d type=maven-project -d groupId=com.beginsecure -d packageName=com.beginsecure.memo -d packaging.jar -d description="Generated 09-December-2023" -o demo.jar it created the comment with no issues.
