Brighton Jetty, where it all started for me in Adelaide. Squidding off the jetty is my comfort sport here in town and I'm gonna share my favourite style of catching them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rod: Savage Gear Inshore 1DFR
Reel: Shimano Sienna 1000
Line: 10lb J-Braid, 30lb PRYML clear mono leader (very cheap!)
Lure: DUO D-Squid Herring Ruff (Get these at Brighton Tackle Store or Fishing Wholesalers and now Anaconda/BCF)

I kept 6 squid on this day and caught a total of 28 while an additional 9 were claimed by the seal. I gave away all the rest to families and anglers.
The bag limit in South Australia for Southern Calamari is 15 per day. There is no size limit here so keep the specific sizes you need whether it be bait, stuffing, cutlets, etc. You will definitely catch more than you can use so don't be a greedy fool and keep your bag limit every single day. Give some to people on the jetty who didn't do as well as you did, especially families with kids or the elderly and everyone's experience will be heaps better!
Once again thank you to those who made this video possible. I appreciate you all from the bottom of my heart for your endless support.

Its a really good spot for quite a few species though it takes some time to figure out how to get them. Though even if you don't get anything, the sunset/sunrise makes you feel great at the end anyway.

Spot on. As you say, it's not all about the fishing, especially for me as I don't seem to catch much, but the journey, destination and surroundings really make it. Would be a nice finishing touch for me to actually catch something! haha!

@@rnevo1945 Awesome! So get yourself a DUO D squid in the silver colour from Brighton tackle shop. Also get a Gancraft UO JYA Nude series #06. Its the green one with red stripes and a yellow and white belly. You'll want to use the same line as I wrote down in the video description. Take note with the gancraft you should wait 4-6 seconds between every 2 flicks and 2 seconds between flicks with the D-squid. GOOD LUCK!

Would you recommend Brighton Jetty for squid close to Adelaide? Cause I get a lot of success on the Yorke Peninsula with squid.
@JEFFISH
@JEFFISH 5 лет назад
Brighton jetty is an alright place for getting at least 4 squid in an hour or two. If conditions are right, you can get way beyond bag limit like I did in the video. It really depends like in all cases for fishing but generally places like Moonta on Yorkes outperform the metro jetties. That being said, the most reliable squidding jetty on the metro is surely Brighton. I've also seen squid here range from babies to some with hoods over 50cm.

@grawmebrown9759
@grawmebrown9759 3 года назад
The bag limit is the bag limit, does not matter what you do with them "giving away a lot more" does not give you the right to catch a lot more. The limit is to protect the resource for every one. If you want to give away your 15 fine. How do you think giving them away on the jetty is any different than giving them away when you get home?
@JEFFISH
@JEFFISH 3 года назад
I actually thought about my phrasing of this a week ago and felt like being clearer. Don't worry, I actually kept 4 and gave away 10 of them. The last one was released by reverse winding it down on a short tentacle. I'd apologise and be professional about it normally but I'm in a bad mood today so instead, fuck you. But fuck you kindly. Have a great day. I hope you understand :>

@@anonemoose4138 They'd need to be alive to expel ink from pain. Other than that, once you kill them with a chop to the head, they won't ink anymore. You can remove the ink sac entirely intact with proper gutting technique. You'll find plenty of videos on how to do that which are easy!

@philipgfishing
@philipgfishing 4 года назад
Jeffish thanks Jeff. I’m just new to this hobby do you recommend a 3.0 or 3.5 if squiding at Port Noarlunga Jetty. Will go later before sunset, what you reckon? Cheers
@JEFFISH
@JEFFISH 4 года назад
@@philipgfishing I recommend a DUO D Squid at 21grams. The 3.0 and 3.5 sizes are pretty redundant in my opinion beyond storage efficiency. Colours of the jag tend to have a way bigger impact especially in heavily fished areas. For Brighton I recommend any colours that look like fish rather than prawns. Try Herring Ruff or pilchard and kgw colours.
@JEFFISH
@JEFFISH 4 года назад
@@philipgfishing Also, for today specifically I'd say it will be a bit hard to squid with the water quality at the moment. But during and after sunset might be good. When the water is dirty or it is dark, use dark or black coloured jigs 👍

@philipgfishing 4 года назад
@@JEFFISH really appreciate for your active response. I hope to get some jigs later in my nearest tackle shop and hope to catch some squid later. massive thanks for all the tips and information from the pro! Cheers
