I love that you never have to worry about what handle you buy from Dorco because all the cartridges and handles are interchangeable. If you decide you want to go from the three blade cartridges to the five, you don't need to buy an new handle because they'll all fit.

I’ve been using a Dorco Shai 6, and still using the first blade after 6 months for legs and underarms. I’ve used cheap 10 cent disposable razors, up to the intuition ones, and safety razors. The Dorco is my favorite. Nice smooth shave, never nicked myself, and the blades last forever.

Having spent a significant time using both the gillete proglide and the dorco 6 plus I make he following observations. comparing the two brands is like comparing german and Japanese cooking knives. The gillette initially has a a superior shave for maybe one or two shaves depending how fast and thick your hair growth is but the blades in comparison to the dorco will dull a lot faster as the dorco blades last much much longer. I also find as another reader mentioned that the gillette is more likely to leave you bleeding and give razor burns. In regard to razor burns in general I make the suggestion that when evyone is done shaving to use cold water as opposed to warm/hot to rinse the face as doing so limits razor burn much more. In regard to razor care and making your razor last longer; after rinsing your razor do two things. A) use a towel and run the shaver in reverse direction a few times as this help to straighten the very edge blade a touch in effect making the edge seem sharper as the very edge of the blade will start to bend back to most people this will not be visible to the eye. I wish there was a way to show a picture demonstrating what I mean with this. B) Make sure your razor is clean and dry after your shave as all metals oxidize even stainless steel and when they do so the sharp edge will be the first part to degrade. If I may make a suggestion sir regarding your shaving technique. With the increase number of blades in a cartridge your shaving stroke should be much longer as this lets the blades do their job to a fuller extent. With a longer stroke you will limit razor burn as well. If you are set on using short strokes I would suggest trying a double edge safety razor or even a straight edge as these are more for short stroke shaving.

I honestly almost cried watching you shave without shaving creme if you don't want to use shaving creme because u can't see what your doing, order some dollarshavelub, shave butter, u can see what your doing and it protects your skin.

Sure looked like the Dorco took more whiskers in one pass than the Gillette.

I also tested Dorco Pace6. It was really good. I could not find a difference with Gillette.

I use the dorco pace 6 and I love it!!! Use to use Gillette....not anymore. Wife also switched to dorco Shai 6 blade. They last around a month, I toss them away and they are still sharp and don't pull.

Wtf? No shave cream?

I have no idea what kinda "soap" you have on your face but a good shaving foam or gel should be applied and your face should be totally white from ear to ear, so you are not drenching your whiskers enough and getting the right performance out of either razor.

I had the complete opposite opinion than you when I compared the dorco pace 6 vs the gillette pro glide. I felt the dorco shaved closer and 1 blade head usually lasts me about 20 shaves. By the way, I shave my entire head and face so the razor has to be sharp and cut close!

I got a huge box of these Dorco razors, and the difference between those and the Shick razors I used before is the durability. The Dorco razors get easily clogged up and seem impossible to clean without wasting time, while the Schick and Gilette razors remain clean with a quick rinse after use.

I switched to a rotary electric razor 15 years ago and will never go back. No blades to buy (I have never replaced mine, anyway) no lotions, no mess. I just love it!

Pace 6 plus (or dsc executive) shaves way better for me than proglide or any other cartridge I have tried

Great video.i use the proglide........but every single time I use it I get knicked exactly 1 time just like you did.i honestly dont know why I dont switch brands but strangely iv grown used to it .

I USE DORCO Pace 6 and Dorco is much bettter than Gillette Fusion Proglide or Gillette Mach 3.

Have you tried the ProGlide power. I really like that razor with the vibration. You are right though...blades are not cheap on the proglide series.

you also need to prep your skin warm water and yes cream foam whatever you prefer maybe even a pre-shave cream then do with the grain cross the grain before doing against less irritations..allso another advice i got do shorter strokes rens the blade often

I got tired of paying the cost of cartridges so switched to a double edge safety razor. I get a much nicer shave with it then any of the multi-blade contraptions out now. It does take a couple weeks to get use to a double edge safety razor but once you do no more nics and the shave is super smooth with no tugging. Blade are also way cheaper than cartridge. I only carry a cartridge razor in my to go bag now.

Tried Harry's & Dorco....Gillette Fusion Power beats them all (for me) by a country mile. I thought about the prices. I pay $49.99 for 16 Fusion blades @ BJ's Wholesale ($3.12 per blade) That's not including the Gillette coupon ($2.00-$4.00) I can find in my Sunday Boston Globe coupon flyer. The Fusion blade will last almost a month for me, where Harry's & Dorco don't last anywhere as long. In the end, you're saving only a few bucks less IMHO. Plus the Fusion attachment/detachment system is the best in the business. I want to myself clear....I went on a serious search for the less expensive razor blade & I couldn't find anything better then the Gillette Powered Fusion. Plus, the vibrating handle DOES made a difference for me. My face was shredded by both the Dorco & Harry's when shaving against the grain, not so with the Fusion.

I shave my full face, neck, and three sides of my head. I have a "Marine High and Tight" haircut. I use the 2 blade cartridge for starting out a "Trim Line"; 4 for the overall first pass of shaving my head. The six blade cartridge smooths my face, and head. I am one totally smooth dude when all is done. There is a distinct difference between 1,2,4,5,6, and the Dorco 7. Using the Dorco blades, I have NEVER been nicked, and I have a plethora of brands, and blades to compare with. Dorco, and Dollar Shave Club (DSC) are the very best in my opinion. I compared: Gillette, Schick, Astra, Bic, Iron Soul, Equate, Singles, 2,3,4,5,6,7 cartridge, and the single edge safety razor blades. For my face I prefer the 6 blade cartridge by Dorco. I usually get BIC flex 5 2 pack on sale with coupon for $3...70% cheaper than Gillette, although the Fusion is superior. for daily shaving BIC; for bbs Fusion.

I was worried when I first heard "Dorco contacted me". I'll stick with my Gillette, but more so my electric razor. Not a fan of the clean shave myself anyways. I wonder how long the Dorco blades lasts, the stability of them.

Try double edge safety razor against multi-blade cartridge. Safety razor blows cartridge razor out of the water.

I used to use Gillette Fusion blades but got tired of paying so much, so I switched to the Dorco Pace 6+. I had similar results - the Dorco is not quite as good as the Gillette, but factoring in the price had me switch. I personally no longer shave against the grain; I shave down on the first pass and then horizontally toward the centerline of my face on the second pass. I greatly reduce ingrown hair this way. I also shave immediately after showering and don't use cream or soap because it doesn't seem to help give me a better shave. I'd rather save the money and use only cold water to keep my skin tight and pores closed.

Yes, Dorco razors do shave well, but getting a replacement part is the problem! And there are two little plastic bits that can give way. That is why it is safer and simpler for most people to use the Gillette Mach 3. As for this guy, he ought to use more foam of whatever sort (even plain Lux toilet soap with a brush) to shave more easily, but the video was indeed helpful. The reason why I Googled for some help was because after about four years of very satisfactory service the bit of metal that docks in to the blade seemed to come loose; examining, I found that the bit of metal had been kept in place by a bit of plastic which had given way. Much earlier I had found that something similar could happen to the blade - at that point of docking, so I've been very gentle in gliding the razor - and yet this happens. About two years ago, I found that stores were giving away Dorco blades at half price, so I've ended up with ten packs of 4 cartridges (sufficient for ten years!), but the handle just can't be bought in my country (Sri Lanka). The handle (and everything else) is indeed of good quality and feel, but if that little bit of plastic gives way, you've got to throw that piece away. Some of my cartridges are 6 blade, most are 4 blade. There even is a 7 blade cartridge which I hadn't purchased when Dorco was available in this country. The handle fits them all. It so happens that I spend time in two places, and I have a Mach 3 in the other place, and I have now bought myself a Mach 3 even for the present place. It's a familiar story, isn't it? The first razor and cartridge are given cheap, but replacement cartridges are what the manufacturers make their profit on - like computer printers! I think that I can get myself a couple of handles from a relative who lives in another country, and there's no hurry, but the bottom line is: it is good to have competition to keep prices relatively low, and the Dorco does shave slightly better.

Use a shaving brush and soap. I use a straight razor and DE razor. Multi blade razors are just to expensive when I get a closer shave with one single blade

That was painful to watch. Really, the pockmarked face with those moles and an atrociously poor shaving technique, it was harrowing! At no point, I was comfortable watching this video but just stuck around to hear the verdict, which I must admit wasn't worth the agony this man put himself through.
