As soon as I saw that lovely box I thought it ideal for my fountain pens even before you mentioned yours! No surprise I guess that a book, stationery and art lover would also like pens. It’s another rabbit hole I disappear down from time to time xx
I love this and all of your videos.. Your sweet and kind demeanor are so endearing. It is a comfort to watch and listen to you. Everything in this video is beautiful. Sending love to you from Nova Scotia.
You make my Sundays better, Miranda. I always look forward to your next vlog, and I especially love your favorite things and seasonal book recommendations. 🩷
Lilly Silks. Such great pieces. Love the navy blue blouse. The dress with the equestrian pattern is very special. Next time I’m in Cambridge I’ll visit Kettle’s Yard - thank you for mentioning it because I didn’t know about it. You’ve cheered my day Miranda. And I’ve got little discoveries to make. 😊
Hello ! On April 14th while visiting London, my husband and I stopped into the Marchpane bookshop for Children in London on your recommendation . My husband spied a very special copy of a book about Paddington Bear. We did try to leave the shop without it but the pull was so great on my husband that he said that he really must have it so we turned around and ended up having a marvelous chat with the shop owner. The owner knew the author and creator of Padgington Bear, Michael Bond all the way up until his death. He told us how Paddington Bear came to be in the lives of the author and his wife. I hope you can consider going to The Marchpane bookshop and speaking with the owner about Paddington Bear. I don’t want to spoil this story but it’s very, very sweet.
Your "favorite things" videos are among my favorite things. I always find inspiration and legitimate reasons--such as A Different Sound--to empty my wallet! I'm so enamored with the work of Emily Patrick. I've made one of her images my screen saver. Thank you for introducing us to her in your lovely newsletter. I hope you and Donna are enjoying London, the cat "royalty" granting you a visit, and all of the coronation festivities and good will. 👑 🐱 🌷
Thank you so much for your very kind support, Pamela! I so appreciate it! And I'm really glad you enjoyed these recommendations (and the ones from my newsletter - Emily Patrick is so fabulous, I agree!). I laughed over the cat 'royalty' - so true!! We are so pleased to have some time in London again 😊 ❤️
Thank you Miranda for another wonderful vlog! I’ve decided to watch it on Monday morning to have a lovely start of the week! Your taste is always perfect : the dress, blouse and skirt are so classy and elegant…I can’t wait to read Ways of Life, Kettle’s Yard is one of the places of my heart…As a foreign student in Cambridge I spent long hours there breathing the magic atmosphere and admiring each single meaningful detail ( even the way the light from the windows touches the works of art). I’m so grateful for your recommendation , otherwise I would have missed this beautiful book.❤
I was hoping you would do a "favorite things" vlog soon. Et voila, you did! Loved all the things you featured, but especially the clothes; very classy and elegant, just like you! I look forward every week to your wonderful videos, so accept my gift as a token of deep appreciation for the hard work you put into them and the great pleasure they give me! You've become like family to me! lol
That’s so kind of you to say, Grace! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video and thank you so much for your very generous support which I really appreciate! ❤️💐
Greetings Miranda! It's always lovely to see you and I really enjoy watching your favorites. I find your channel very soothing and somehow comforting. Love and blessings ♥️🙏
Oooh we have just started watching The Gilded Age, have only watched the first one but will definitely be watching more now that you have raved about it. You always choose such wonderful stationery. Love is a Pink Cake sounds and looks amazing.
Speaking of lovely television shows, “Call the Midwife” just finished their 12th season and it is my favorite of all time. I highly recommend starting with season 1 and going through them all. It is set in Poplar, London after the Second World War. It is well written and beautifully acted.
What a delightful 'favourite things' vlog. Thank you for highlighting the new Clare Ptak book - i have her first book & i love it! I have been reading (and rationing! I dont want it to end!) the Helene Hanff book; so skillfully written, you feel you are listening to a friend chat about her life. A tv series i would recommend, if I may, is Magpie Murders. Its a very clever and well made series starring Lesley Manville. I think you & your lovely mum would really enjoy it! X
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Penny - thank you! I love that first cookbook of Claire Ptak's as well. We have watched Magpie Murders and thoroughly enjoyed it - we're big Lesley Manville fans (and I enjoyed the book too). Hope you're having a lovely bank holiday weekend! xxx
My brother bought me a mug and a plate by Emma Bridgewater for the last 2 Christmases. His friend will be going to her factory and he asked me if there is anything I would like. I saw your rabbits and kits mug which I love so hopefully she will be able to find it for me. Thank you for creating such lovely videos. You are a classy breath of fresh air!
Dear Miranda, you look so elegant and beautiful in this lovely dress! Thank you so much for sharing all the inspirational things you like. As always I found plenty which I liked too, I have to be careful though not to want everything😂 Have a wonderful week in London, I will be there in August for a week around my birthday with my two daughters and I am already filled with excitement, even though I have visited London quite often already. But there is always so much to see and to do! Have fun!❤
A lovely selection Miranda. I think I might get one of the pen boxes as I need somewhere to store my pens now I work from home so thank you for the recommendation ❤
I'm a bit jealous as I saw on IG that not only are you in London during the Coronation but also got to go to the Berthe Morisot exhibition!! She is one of my favorite painters, have always loved her depictions of the simple but beautiful moments in a woman's life. Hope you are having a fabulous time. Your new clothing is stunning and sophisticated. Thank you for the recommendations for "The Gilded Age" and "Transatlantic". 💕
Thank you Miranda, for introducing me to Manderley Press. I have just ordered from them The Last Kings of Sark, which I can't wait to read. A few years ago I spent a few days on this beautiful and unspoilt island. I'm looking forward to the revival of happy memories of the places and people I met there.
I’m so pleased that you and Donna enjoyed “The Gilded Age.” I almost didn’t recommend it to you because I never know if others will enjoy a TV show as much as I do. I think I’ll give “Transatlantic” a try, based on your recommendation.
What a beautiful classy dress from Lily Silk . Love the Gilded age. Saw it a while back. 😊Love, love the TransAtlantic was a beautiful story also loved that it was based on a true story. Also the fashion was beautiful, the actors were brilliant . Great video like always dear Miranda.
I always love these vlogs. So many lovely things. Gardenia is my favorite scent, but my asthma won't allow me to wear perfume, darn it. 😊. The Letters from New York by Hanff looked especially interesting. I love her books. 📚👍 Thank you Miranda. 🤗💕💕
I always love your favourite things videos so much! The new clothes look lovely on you, the dress has such an elegant cut and I especially love the skirt and floral top outfit. I love Debbie George’s art. I have her jug bunting which I love, it’s so pretty and cheerful; her beautiful book is on my wish list. Thanks for another lovely video Miranda.
Ooh yes I’d really recommend a trip to Kettles Yard! It’s a gallery in one part and the most arty house you’ll ever see in the other part. So inspiring ❤
As always, you find the most beautiful and unique things for your favourites videos Miranda 🥰. Particularly loved the Debbie George book and the Starsmead pencil box.
Your dress is lovely, Miranda! I finally visited Persephone Books for the first time and stocked up on Virginia Woolf but your choices look tempting as well.
Hi Miranda! Lovely video! so many beautiful products! I adore the cards by Diane Williams. Beautiful! I also loved the buntings by Debbie George - just gorgeous! I am so excited about the new Manderley Press! We have been on a few road trips and have been listening to the Vanderbeeker series. We are now on Book 5 - The Vanderbeekers make a Wish. They keep getting better and better. I love that each book references other pieces of children's literature. I also love that each one teaches a bit about - gosh I don't know what you would call it but... objects of real-life responsibilities like business licenses, deeds, leases etc. I think its so great for kids to get exposed to those types of things. Thank you again for choosing it as your CBC read last December and getting us started on it! 🌷
Thank you for all the inspiration. I need some new wardrobe staples, including a new silk shirt, so will definitely look at Lily Silk. You look like a someone in an Agatha Christie adventure set in a lovely holiday location in the pleated skirt and flower pattern top outfit - for it's elegant style I hasten to add 😊
As usual love your video. Fun fact I live in Rhode Island where some of gilded age was filmed (one of the famous Newport mansions was used) and my next door neighbor who is a dear friend worked on the costumes for the show
Hello Miranda, I love your favourite things videos. And, I am so glad I am not the only one who thought that The Gilded Age was so much better than Downton Abbey. Sumac is a fab spice; I use it with grilled fish. The caramel piping on the blouse is just perfect! Best wishes, Jason
Love all of your videos and the effort you put into everything! I loved " Transatlantic" ! I oved the silk pieces and am a huge fan of sumac! This is a different spice but if you've not tried you might like cörek ötu which is also found in Turkish or middle eastern shops. Beautiful on salad or sprinkled on feta then on a piece of green pepper or cucumber . Heavenly delicious!
Thank you so much for your very kind words and support, Sharlene! I'm very grateful, and I"m so glad you enjoyed these recommendations! That spice sounds good too - I'll see if I can get it xxx
Your clothing and stationery choices are always so pretty! I love media set in the 19th century - going to check out The Gilded Age. Thank you for the recs!
Hello Miranda, I have enjoyed this vlog. The Lilysilk blouse is lovely! I adore the basket with handles! Anything done by Julian Fellowes is amazing. I have many times had note cards and post cards framed. Have a lovely week!
Love your ‘favourite things’ vlogs. I adore the bunting - it reminds me of some of my Poole Pottery jugs! I’m a regular visitor to Kettles Yard as I live in Cambridge, I am sure you would love it there. Enjoy the rest of your bank holiday weekend❤
Thank you, Sarah! The bunting is fabulous, I agree! I really do hope to get to Kettle's Yard sometime - it sounds wonderful! Hope you're enjoying the long weekend as well xxx
Hello Miranda tfs more of your "favorite" things I so enjoy your stationery items love the pencil box I have a few w/my favorite "pens" . . have a beautiful day/evening take care ❤️🙋♀️🦋🌻🌺💐🐦🥰
Thank you for another lovely vlog. You mentioned the gilded age and I have just read The Custom of the Country by Edith Wharton which covers this period. There was a review in the latest slightly foxed magazine and I highly recommend it
Thank you very much for your very kind support, Wendy! I so appreciate it. Funnily enough, I bought The Custom of the Country back in March after reading that SF article! instagram.com/p/CpXO3e4r5aw/?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
I had been looking at the Lily Silk site but resisting buying even with their offer of a 10% discount. Now you have one for 12% I might just have to go back for another look!
Thank you! I'm not wearing a highlighter - my blush is Rose Inc Cream Blush & I also have on an Estee Lauder bronzer (from one of their Christmas boxes) xxx
Hello Miranda. Have you read any books by Catherine Gaskin? I recently read the Ambassador’s Women. It sold 40million copies and is 800 pages long. It starts in Cornwall and goes through the Second World War and beyond. It’s about the women that cross his life. Other books she has written are very good too. Always enjoy your videos. 🙂
