No need to waste so much onion. I only take the bottoms that we cut and throw anyways and put them in the garden and get plenty of spring onions, all year-round.

In my garden I planted green onions and leave them yearly they regrow from there seeds and you can cut tops from greeens like this individual did or pull whole plant up, just leave the ones that flower to replenish for next year

We learn something new every day. You can start potatoes in a similar fashion. The eye from where the sprout grows is where the new plant starts. You can cut them up with 2 or 3 eyes per piece, let it sit out until the cut side drys some, then plant a foot apart.

Nope . guys it's spring onion, used for seasoning and some curry making(i use this for dal preparation) ,salads and we can also use this for soups preparations

You can use small part of the onion which has those roots, no need of whole onion, and you can have spring onions ❤️

Yeah it's because , we know only this variety of onion and we grow the same. You know for an us dollar you can buy 4 to 5kgs of onion in India i.e almost 10lbs ...

Exactly. These aren't what we typically call spring onions: based on the size & colour these are typically called red onions. In any case, most (all?) onion species grow with an upper plant stem which you can chop and use as demonstrated.

@@PaulZeeX they are still called spring onion. Spring onion is the green shoot of the onion which is shown here. However, typically smaller variants of onion bred for spring onion is used instead. They have a much better flavour and cost less to produce.

ohhhhh....super....if we gently cut tha onion for two pieces... then 3/4 will use for curry..&.. the remaining 1/4 will use as breed to get onion plants (spring onions )which will use for another curry... really super Idea...!!!

​@@Imaddictedtodramas yes you are right. here is a tip, you can actually use the seeds and that will give you same spring onions and if you grow it at home you can cut the leaves and leave the onion inside and get the full onion later

I use sambar(small) onion to grow spring onions. I don't cut off anything. Just plant them in soil. They too grow good. You can try that too once.

But pl do it without wasting a whole onion like shown in the video. You can use the ends that we cut anyways, gives the same result. Just tuck them properly and cover with 1cm soil.

To make vegetable of that. I have grown it naturally and the size is small only because it is natural I have not usen any chemical fertilizers that's why the size is small 😃😃

No. Spring onion or scallion how we can it will never produce a bulb like onions do. Instead, they can grow a bit bigger resulting in white soft scale free bulb
