Please Note: While clean, unglazed terra cotta pots are thought to be safe for food, I took the extra measure of lining them with trimmed-down plastic bags before filling with fruits and veggies. This also helps prevent staining of the pots. Never use pots that have previously come into contact with chemicals, fertilizers, etc. as the chemicals can soak into the terra cotta. Be aware that glazed pots can contain lead depending on the manufacturer. This is only a decorative suggestion based on my own research and experience. Use this idea at your own discretion and risk.
