So if you were around during the roundhouse build you will remember me installing the water system. well it ran none stop with no problems at all.
we are in a bit of a drought in wales so the spring isnt putting out much water, that made it the perfect time to do some maintenance.
hopefully soon we will get some good rain and the spring will flow again.

I have been watching your videos since you started building your house and u are a real inspiration. I enjoy watching you videos and have learnt alot from watching them and want to thank you for that. I just watched House's on the edge and it was all about you and how you started and where u are now and I must say it brought a tear to my eye hearing your story. So please keep up the great video content and can't wait for you to build the new work shop.

the dipping supply to this tank . remind me of a churn i used to put under , a dripping tap much slower then that. it produce a full churn evry morning. that drip is much faster than my tap . suspect tow churn will be the result come morning .

Hey Kris. Have watched a ton of your videos and I know you are going through a low water season right now and you talked about diverting water from another stream for hydro power as well as scavenging some from the pond if needed. Have also seen where you are having a ton of water and bummed over losing all the power that is there. Well might I suggest setting up a ram pump? When you have a lot of water flow in the stream you can run the ram pump and get a little extra water up in the pond to use during times where you have less water available. You can also use it to take and push water into a tank for the trees and garden's use instead of having to ferry water around by hand. A couple of swing gate check valves and you should have little else to do other than adding a " T " into the line that your hydro is on or running another line for the ram pump. A couple of the swing check valves like what you used in your anti flow back system for your water heater will work perfectly. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-A9W0zx2D7aU.html

Might help with water conservation if you put a lid on the spring to slow evaporation from the water that collects there in the little reservoir. The sun will heat those rocks, inturn heating the water, making evaporation faster. Plus, might help keep it cleaner.

I was wondering that too. Filling it to the top with stone, covering it with more of that thick plastic and putting turf over it would not only keep it cool, it would prevent surface water contaminating it as well.

No issues with runoff from the field above the spring contaminating it? Do you drink this water?

Lot of youtubers use a bluetooth lapel mic. Keeps it close to you mouth. Also a windscreen would help a lot. A DIY windscreen from any type of foam should work.

Check out charcoal used to purify water , cheap and low hassle , may need another water container or too but it will also increase reserve capacity some.

Maybe get an IBC (plastic tote on a pallet which can contain 1000L of water...If you can find one which had food (syrups and the like) in it you are set...

Hi Chris. Have you thought much about extending this spring area?? Add some reefs into the gravel area, they’re brilliant at absorbing nutrients from the water

Would an intermediate settling tank/cistern close to the spring reduce the amount of sediment getting into the pipe and into the main tank?
@roberthayward9299
@roberthayward9299 3 года назад
What that would do is increase the head of water at the cabin. As Kris has pointed out, there is already plenty of water pressure there, so it wouldn't be necessary. What might be useful could be to install a disc filter in the line before the cabin. That's what I do with my water supply from the Brunswick River here in Australia. Works really well. I have a 10litre pressure tank on the house side of the filter and a garden tap on the supply side. This lets me backwash the filter without any messy disassembly. Kris would need an additional cutoff tap on his supply side if he were to use my technique.
