Although this DS game may have some pre-rendered 3D sprites, there are a bulk of true triangle meshes being rasterized here. E.g. This is why Mario is able to grow so large (in interpolated steps) without any distortion. (also dynamic diffuse lighting from lava etc). This is some nice design and hacking, it's got a very Portal-esq feel for "solving" the puzzles... Only one flaw... where you use some of the spring boards you could easily just wall jump up to where you need to go. Good vid anyway.

How the player's supposed to know that he must press the switch to get the springboard at the beginning? Also, I can find some cutoffness (a tile ending abruptly without ant type of outline or proper ending tile) there. The design feel kinda bland and uninspired at some parts, and I an see that it is a puzzleish hack, but the puzzles feel kinda uninspired and bland too. If you plan on continuing it, take that in consideration.

the "wall jump" move is so lame. It is bad enough when high school or college kids use it for their class project games that wind up on flash game websites. But for Nintendo to use it for a Mario game shows how desperate they are.
